Sacramento in March with Republican Women’s Club mem-
bers in huge numbers from throughout the state. It was a
privilege to meet CFRW President Mariann Hedstrom and
other familiar faces and the young Republicans eagerly attending.
Congratulations to all elected including the new Chairman of CRP,
Tom Del Beccaro and Janet Kirtlink, Vice Chair for our Northwest
Region.
A luncheon event was especially invigorating with Emmy winning
author, Dr. Frank Luntz seen regularly on Fox News. He is recognized
for consulting Fortune 500 companies. His work in 21 countries
writing, supervising and directing nearly two thousand surveys,
focus groups, and instant response dial sessions for corporate and
public affairs clients is well known. He offers more than seventy new
“words that work” for your success in his latest book “WIN”. He
discussed the top ways to communicate, keep the attention of an
audience, and was inspirational with his ideas leading us through the
2012 elections and beyond, an exciting hour indeed. Frank was really
cordial at his book signing and I took a photo with him and another
the night prior with my husband Todd and John Bolton- Hoorah!

George Washington never heard
of the separation of church and
state. This is a prayer he gave at
the close of the Revolutionary War
in 1783. He sent copies to all
thirteen colonies:
I now make it my earnest prayer
that God would have you and the
State over which you preside, in
the Holy protection that He would
incline the hearts of the citizens to
cultivate a spirit of subordination
and obedience to government, to
entertain a brotherly affection and
love for one another, for their
fellow citizens of the United States
at large, and particularly for
brethren who have served in the
field; and finally, that He would
most graciously be pleased to
dispose us all to do justice, to love
mercy, and to demean ourselves
with that charity, humility and
pacific temper of mind, which
were the characteristics of the
Divine Author of our blessed

So the hysteria begins
Our hearts go out to the people of Japan, after enduring a 9.1 earthquake
only to be followed by a tsunami. The loss of life at this point is 9,800 and
over 10,000 people missing. To make matters worse, the nuclear reactor
at Fukushima I is threatened. So now all the anti-nuclear people are
coming out wanting a moratorium on all nuclear power plants world
wide. Joe Lieberman wants the brakes applied. Not that he wants to stop
the building of any plants - no, he just wants us to wait so we can absorb
what has happened in Japan. Let us not forget who his running mate was
- good old ecofanatic, Al Gore.
I was in Costco the other night and this man asked me if I knew where the
iodine was. I told him I didn’t think they carried it; with that, the gentle-
man informed me surely they do. He went on to say the health food store
was out of it. I still wasn’t tracking with what he was referring to, and said,
“Wow! That is strange!” I was thinking about the liquid iodine that is used
for cleaning a wound, NOT tablets to be taken as a precaution for radia-
tion poisoning!!! So the hysteria is here, too!
In reading an article submitted to PatriotUpdate.com by Nathaniel David-
son, a regular contributor from Australia, he cited some very interesting
statistics. In comparing nuclear energy fatalities and the greenies’ favor-
ite, wind energy’s fatalities of the last ten years: the wind farm deaths
were 44 and the nuclear deaths were 7. I remember the
Chernobyl meltdown in 1986 as though it were yesterday. I was pregnant
with my first child and, of course, I was very nervous about any fallout
that might occur which could cause a problem to my developing baby.
At that time, they told pregnant women not to drink milk because it could
affect the fetus. (That wasn’t a problem for me as I hate milk! Sorry to my
family and dairy friends! But to those who know my son, now you know
what is wrong with him.) All kidding aside, it is easy to let the media and
the “anti” crowd frighten you, but let’s look at this calmly with some facts.
In 1986, we were told millions of people would die, but a study done 20
years later by the International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN Develop-
ment Program and the World Health Organization said they could attri-
bute 50 deaths to Chernobyl. Remember it was built with inferior Com-
munist technology. A chest CT scan will expose you to 6,900 micro-
sieverts. On March 17th, the radiation reading was 30 microsieverts at
Fukusima Prefecture and to reach the same level as a CT scan, you would
have to stand outside for 230 continuous hours. To add to the debunking
of the ecofantics, a properly operating nuclear power plant releases less
radiation into the atmosphere than a coal-fired plant. This is according to
the liberal Scientific American.
Although I’m not an expert, I’m not going to run out and get the iodine
tablets. I’m feeling very safe. Remember to duck and cover! Just kidding!!

The Eagle Forum of California’s Tenth Annual
State Conference will be held in Sacramento
on Friday-Saturday, June 17-18.
Friday morning, legislators will speak to us about
important legislation at the Secretary of State’s office.
Friday afternoon will be spent lobbying concerning
legislation.
Friday evening’s reception begins at 6 p.m., followed

Honor Flight Update

The community response to Honor Flight has been so great
that we now have a local hub - North Coast Honor Flight
which will serve Humboldt, Trinity and Del Norte Counties. We
have received applications from over 50 veterans, and have
tentatively scheduled our first flight for May 14. The next flight
will be in early fall (we want to avoid the hot summer months)
and we are exploring the possibility of a charter that would
leave from the Arcata Airport.
Please look for our float in the Rhododendron Parade April 30,
and mark your calendars for our big fundraiser to be held at
Blue Lake Casino on Thursday, May 26. We will also have
booths at the Humboldt County Fair and other events through-
out the summer. These will all be great opportunities to meet,
thank, and cheer our World War II veterans.
A great big thank you to all of you for your continued
support of this project. Many of you have sent contributions
which help to make this all possible. (Jerrie Bartley's German
dinner was a huge success---not only for the money raised, but I
continue to hear what a great party it was).

excellent books; and other outstanding speakers, state
legislators, authors and experts on the theme “Exposing
the Many Tentacles of Agenda 21”. More details will be

story, but I think it is an important one to tell.
In 1990 I ran for public office: County Recorder. I lost the race
and was quite disappointed, as one might expect. However,
on looking back it was a good thing, since I probably would
not have been able to complete my term of office. During the
campaign, I met Marge Handley, who was running for State
Assembly at the time. Two years later, Marge ran for the State
Senate and I became an early supporter. But, while campaign-
ing for her, I began to have pain in my back and legs. Follow-
ing the campaign that pain increased to the point where I
could barely make it upstairs at home, where our bedroom
was.
I began seeing a doctor and she tried a number of remedies,
none of which worked. So she referred me to a specialist in
Arcata. It was determined that I had Spinal Stenosis, arthritic

nerves and causing the pain. I was scheduled for surgery in
JACK R. MCDONALD 1995. The surgery was a success; as soon as the pain from the
surgery began to subside, I felt so much better and could go
on with my life.

During the next several years I had more pain, and more visits
to the doctors. Additional problems were discovered and I
had several more operations, including the installation of an

eliminate the pain so the pain medications were continued.
With the passage of years, and the gradual increase in pain,
the number and strength of the pills were increased. You can
guess what was happening. Because of the drugs, I had
completely lost my ability to think critically and logically, and
my sort-term memory was likewise destroyed. The pills had
done a fair job of reducing pain, but had done an excellent job
of killing my mind.
The miracle occurred in 2009. I got very, VERY sick in the
summer. So sick, in fact, that I could not eat and I even elimi-
nated my pills. As I began to get well, I resumed my eating
AND my pills. But before those pills reintroduced the stupor
to which I had become so accustomed, I began to realize that,
while I was off my pills, although I felt physically rotten, my
mind was beginning to function: I could think. Although
through the years every doctor I saw warned me not to stop
the pills without discussing it with them first, I stopped taking
ALL my pills. However, after a few days of thinking more
clearly, I resumed my vitamins and other medications, elimi-

Goodness, is it Spring?
This April 14th from 12 to 2PM is
our Annual Membership Spring Tea!
This year, Esther Holmes has offered her beautiful home in West-
haven for this enjoyable event. Belle Starr Clothing of Arcata and
Eureka has offered to do a fashion show and some of our mem-
bers will be modeling her lovely clothes. The Board members are
contributing sweets and hors-d’oeuvres and there will be lots of
drawings and gifts! This is a great time to bring a guest. Please
invite members who may like to share a ride with you or call
Debbie Walker if you need arrangements for a ride.
Because of the Tea, there will be no General Meeting on April 21st.
