Objectives of Asia Exposure 2010: Hong
Kong
1. Enable participants to learn more about the different businesses of the firms, explore their
interests in Finance, Business and Consultancy, and increase awareness of the various
opportunities that these firms offer for internships and graduate positions.
2. Hong Kong is a developed market that serves the emerging markets in Asia including rapidly
growing nations of China and India. It is a hub for economical and financial activities. We hope
to facilitate the inflow of talent into Hong Kong, and promote Hong Kong as an exceptional
launch‐pad for one’s career.
3. This trip provides participants the opportunity to network with like‐minded peers from other
universities in the United Kingdom, build friendships and learn from experiences of others.
4. Introduce our partner firms to a group of intelligent, enthusiastic and motivated participants
and assist in the recruitment of potential graduates and interns.
5. Platform for the LSE Business Society and the LSE Asian Careers Society to innovate and
improve, to become a more professional student body and fulfil the objectives of its members.

About Hong Kong
Hong Kong is situated in China’s south coast on the Pearl River Delta. The main financial district
is located on the north shore of Hong Kong Island, known as Central District. As the central
business district of Hong Kong, many multinational financial services corporations have
established their regional offices in that hub.
The temperature ranges from 15°C to 20°C in the period of December. In comparison with
other periods of the year, the trip does not seem to coincide with the rainy season in the region.
The cuisine in Hong Kong is distinctively Cantonese with extensive influences from parts of non‐
Cantonese‐speaking China, thereby providing an unlimited variety of food in every class. The
main shopping district belts include Causeway Bay, Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsul and Central. Bring
along sufficient money to experience the food and shopping culture of Hong Kong. Instead of
changing money at the airport or hotels, do try to find local banks as they offer more attractive
rates.
Hong Kong has an excellent transport infrastructure with its network of buses, trains and cabs.
Different buses serve the financial district and you can plan your journey ahead by looking up
the website of the Transport Department. To get to Central, it is recommended that you take
Airbus (A11) for HK$40. The Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is also an efficient way of getting
around. It is highly recommended that Octopus Cards be purchased as it makes travelling by
public transport significantly easier. It is also possible to commute around Hong Kong via cabs.
Cab fares are metered, starting at HK$18 (Urban Taxis) excluding surcharges.
As Hong Kong edges to becoming an environmentally friendly country, we would like to urge all
participants to utilise the public transport system as far as possible.
