 General Announcements 
 
(New) We will be administering the TAKS test on April 26­28 and 
we need your assistance in a few areas: 
  
1.  Please do not schedule any appointments during these dates. 
2.  Please help your student to remember to bring his/her lunch or 
plan to buy lunch from the cafeteria during these dates. WE 
CANNOT AND WILL NOT DELIVER ANY LUNCHES TO STUDENTS 
DURING TAKS TESTING…NO EXCEPTIONS.  
3.  Please encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and to eat a 
healthy breakfast.

(New) The UIL Academics teams competed this past Thursday, Friday 
and Saturday (March 31‐April 2) at the UIL Academics District meet at 
Highland Park High School. Congrats to all our students who 
participated in various academic contests! 
  
A special congratulations to Nick Engmann who placed first in 
Computer Applications and Alysha Joseph who placed first in Spelling 
and Vocabulary. They will be attending the regional meet at UNT on 
April 16. Go Hawks!  
  
Also, congratulations to our fourth place (wild card) winners which 
included Collin Abbott who placed fourth in Current Issues, Aleks 
Kochan who placed fourth in Headline Writing, and Colton Smith who 
placed fourth in Number Sense.  
  
A great job all around! Way to go RHHS UIL Academics teams!

Opportunity for Student Volunteer Hours   
·    Pullen Elementary is hosting a Chili Cook‐off on Thursday, April 
14th.  They are in need of Student Volunteers that are interested 
in earning 5 service hours for work from 4:30‐8:30 p.m. to help 
with set‐up, games, and tear‐down.  If you are interested, contact 
Ms. Moses at  lmoses4@aol.com.   
  
·     Springer Elementary is having a carnival and fun run on 
Saturday, April 16th. The official hours are 6:30am ‐ 1:30pm. 
Students can work as many hours as they would like. We need 
help with ticket sales, carnival games, set up, breakdown, 
registration, fun run, photography booth, etc.  You can email 
crohlfs6@gmail.com , or call Cherry Rolfs @ 972‐771‐4622 to 
volunteer.  Volunteer t‐shirts are available for $4.00.  
 
Attendance Procedures 
All absences require written documentation the day a student returns to 
school. If you are signed up for Family Access, please enter absence 
notifications through Skyward in lieu of written notes. Family Access 
applications are available on campus or on the district web site. All 
parents are encouraged to sign up for this excellent source of 
information. For questions or for a student's early release, please call 
469‐698‐2601. If your student has athletics 9th period and needs an 
early release during that time, please call the office by 2:30.     
 
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all parents bringing in forgotten 
homework, athletic clothes, lunch, etc. Students WILL NOT be notified 
that they have an item at the front desk. It is their responsibility to 
check for items left. Instructional time is crucial and we do not want to 
waste a moment of it! THANK YOU for your understanding.

Athletics

 (New) This past week our Lady Hawk Gymnasts competed in the 
Texas High School Regional Meet and our Lady Hawks placed 2nd! They 
will be going to the Texas High School State Championships April 13th‐
16th at Martin High School in Arlington.   
Individual Successes: This is out of 50 gymnasts roughly on each 
event! Carolyn Sherwin: 4th on the all‐around, 4th on Vault, tied 6th on 
Uneven Bars, Tied for 5th on Balance Beam, 4th on Floor.  Jade 
Bowerman: 6th in the All‐Around, 8th on Vault, 11th on Uneven Bars, 
Tied for 9th on Balance Beam, 3rd on Floor.  Jacquelyn Doughty: 10th in 
the All‐Around, 13th on Vault, 12th on Uneven Bars, 15th on Floor. Naje' 
Watkins: 11th on Balance Beam.  Lauren Statham: 19th on Floor.  GO 
HAWKS!  
(New) Last week our Men’s Hawk Gymnasts competed in the Texas 
High School Region 1 Championship Meet at Rockwall HS.  The men’s 
team placed 4th with a team score of 305.1, just short of qualifying for 
state as a team! We will have individuals going to the Texas High School 
State Championships April 13th‐16th at Martin High School in 
Arlington.  
  
Individual Successes: This is out of 55 gymnasts roughly on each 
event! The placements are from a combine score from two days of 
competition. Trevor Newell: 10th in the All‐Around, 9th on the Pommel 
Horse, 7th on Vault, and 9th on the Parallel Bars. Alex Milner: 7th on the 
Pommel Horse, 5th on Still Rings, and 10th on the Parallel Bars. 
Cameron Callaway: 6th on Vault, 10th on High Bar. Brian Moore: 10th 
on Vault. David Parker: 10th on High Bar. GO HAWKS!

(New) Friday, March 11th, Rockwall‐Heath High School held tryouts for 
the 2011‐2012 Cheerleaders & Mascots.  The results were posted on the 
RISD website and the girls were invited to come back to the RHHS gym 
for a celebration.

Clubs 
AUTO CLUB ‐ RHHS Auto club has red and black H umbrellas in stock 
and ready to sell for our fundraiser.  They are great not only for the rain 
but to keep the sun off you during all of those out door games and 
tournaments. If you are interested you can contact Mrs. Hyatt at 
khyatt@rockwallisd.org, send a student by room 3702, or ask the 
receptionist at the front desk. The umbrellas are 60" golf umbrellas and 
the cost is $30.  Below is a picture of the umbrella.

Counseling News 
 
Current 11th graders: the Guidance Office still has TEA fee waivers for 
the SAT or ACT.  All 11th graders planning on attending a 4‐year 
university should plan to take the SAT or ACT this spring. 
  
This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to attend college 
but have not really thought about how to make it happen. Any students 
interested please go to the web site and complete the application. 
TACAC's Camp College 2011 ‐ June 6‐8, 2011 ‐ Huntsville, Texas . Camp 
College is a three‐day summer program for rising college­bound high 
school juniors and seniors.   Students will learn about a variety of 
colleges and universities, build relationships with many admission 
representatives and college counselors, as well as spend two nights on 
the campus of Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX).  All 
applications are due April 15. The cost of the trip is FREE. Go to

Support the Spanish National Honor Society by purchasing a burrito 
from Chiloso's for $2 on Wednesday mornings 7:30 ‐8:35 in the hallway 
by the band hall and cafeteria.

BASEBALL is selling Ranger tickets. Info on the game:  Sunday, May 8th

in sections 204/205/206. (Left field line) All tickets are $25.00 each.

Rockwall Heath High School is working with Revolution Prep to prepare you for the SAT this spring.
Revolution has been working with Rockwall ISD students this past spring and fall and will continue
with their courses to improve RHHS students SAT scores. Please read this letter carefully to
understand all the options that will be available at Rockwall Heath High School.

SAT & ACT Preparation Programs from Revolution Prep

Revolution Prep will be holding courses leading up to the May 7th SAT at RHHS and RHS. These
courses are open to all RHHS students looking to improve their SAT scores. In addition, Revolution
offers personalized, in-home tutoring for those students seeking more individual attention.

Revolution Prep’s 6 week classroom program includes:

• Engaging, knowledgeable instructors
