General Announcements

(New) Don't miss the 2nd Annual Dancing with the Hawks competition this Thursday,
May 12th at 7:00 pm in the PAC hosted by Mr. Beauchamp. The tickets are $5.00 at the
door, and we will be selling Chick-fil-a sandwiches, chips, & drinks throughout the
event. The night will include performances by RHHS Cheerleaders, Infinity Choir,
Highsteppers, and Startsteppers. Your favorite dance competitor needs your vote, join us
this Thursday!

(New) Senior Parents: Changes have been made to this year’s senior awards/scholarship
ceremony. The senior awards will be scheduled with the other class awards on May 24th
at 7 p.m. in the PAC. Scholarship announcements will be made on June 1st at 10:30 a.m.
in the PAC. The change was made due to the length of the senior awards/scholarship
eremony in past years. We invite community members and parents to our ceremony and
we need to be conscience of their time away from their daily responsibilities at the work
place. We hope this change will not inconvenience any of you! If your student is
receiving an award, they will be notified. Thank you!

(New) UIL Academics News - Alysha Joseph placed 2nd in Spelling and Vocabulary at
the UIL Academics Regional meet at UNT last Saturday. She advanced to the state meet
at UT on May 7. Congratulations Alysha!

Attendance Procedures
All absences require written documentation the day a student returns to school. If you are
signed up for Family Access, please enter absence notifications through Skyward in lieu
of written notes. Family Access applications are available on campus or on the district
web site. All parents are encouraged to sign up for this excellent source of information.
For questions or for a student's early release, please call 469-698-2601. If your student
has athletics 9th period and needs an early release during that time, please call the office
by 2:30.

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate all parents bringing in forgotten homework,


athletic clothes, lunch, etc. Students WILL NOT be notified that they have an item at the
front desk. It is their responsibility to check for items left. Instructional time is crucial
and we do not want to waste a moment of it! THANK YOU for your understanding.

(New) Spring Sports Banquet Honoring Baseball, Softball, Tennis, Golf, Track and
Gymnastics will be held on Monday, May 16th @ 6:30 p.m. in the RHHS Cafeteria.
Tickets are $12 and can be purchase in the Athletic Department until May 12th . NO
TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR!!!

(New) ROUND TWO - AREA BASEBALL PLAYOFF INFORMATION: This week


the Hawks will play the Molina Jaguars for their second playoff round.
Game 1: Thursday May 12th @ 7:00 p.m. at Higgins Field – Kimball High School (3606
S. Westmoreland Road, Dallas, TX 75233)
Game 2: Friday May 13th @ 7:30 p.m. at Heath High School
Game 3: (If needed) Saturday May 14th @ 1 p.m. at Higgins Field – Kimball High
School

(New) Several of our students compete in Water Polo and their team competed in the
TISCA North Texas Region. The results were:
There were 48 teams playing water polo in North Texas this spring between all divisions
with the top 4 teams qualifying for the State Tournament. Three RHHS students were
given individual awards and teams placed: Heath Boys- 11th place- Boys Division,
Heath Girls- 7th place- Girls Division (tie with Rockwall Girls), Rockwall/Heath JV- 5th
place- Junior Varsity Division. Individual awards were given to: Boys Division Coach of
the Year- Andres Rodriguez, Morgan Madrid- Second Team All Region, Chase Nelson-
Honorable Mention All Region, Kathryn Langdon- Honorable Mention All Region.
Congratulations to all!

Clubs

(New) Sailing Club is going to Nationals!! The team will travel to Norfolk, Virginia on
May 20th to compete in the ISSA High School Mallory and Baker National Regattas.
To raise money to go to Nationals, we have scheduled a Chik-fil-A Fundraiser for May
24th. Please, come out for an easy family dinner and leave your receipt for RHHS
Sailing. Club members will be there as well so they can give you all of the details about
our trip. We are also looking for 100 people willing to donate $75.00 each within the next
three weeks. We understand that this is a lofty goal, but: We Believe! If you, your
company, or anyone you know is able to contribute (any amount) please make your check
payable to “RHHS Sailing Club”. Donations can be dropped off at the school, or mailed:
C/O RHHS Sailing Club, to 801 Laurence Dr. Heath, Texas 75032. We also have space
left on the club t-shirts we are currently designing, to put the company logos of those able

AUTO CLUB - RHHS Auto club has red and black H umbrellas in stock and ready to
sell for our fundraiser. They are great not only for the rain but to keep the sun off you
during all of those out door games and tournaments. If you are interested you can contact
Mrs. Hyatt at khyatt@rockwallisd.org, send a student by room 3702, or ask the
receptionist at the front desk. The umbrellas are 60" golf umbrellas and the cost is $30.

Counseling News

(New) For Heath Hawks and Junior Hawks in particular - Kansas State University's
DFW Admissions Representative will be in the Rockwall-Heath High School Lecture
Hall on Thursday May 12 2011 during 3rd period Advisory. Ms Allie Teagarden will be
available to discuss the opportunities available for Heath Hawks to come to KSU and be
a part of the exciting adventures that await you there. Ms Teagarden is very
knowledgeable of her campus and will answer your questions about the fall admission
process, financial aid application process / requirements, and tell you how to schedule a
summer campus visit if you are in the area. Campus visits are always a great way to see if
the campus really is a good fit for you.

Please note the following extended registration deadlines for the June ACT and SAT
administrations:

Registration deadlines for both June test administrations extended to May 10 2011. The
June administrations are the last 2 eligible exams for TCPP voucher from TEA.

This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to attend college but have not
really thought about how to make it happen. Any students interested, please go to the
web site and complete the application. TACAC's Camp College 2011 - June 6-8, 2011 -
Huntsville, Texas . Camp College is a three-day summer program for rising college-
bound high school juniors and seniors. Students will learn about a variety of colleges
and universities, build relationships with many admission representatives and college
counselors, as well as spend two nights on the campus of Sam Houston State University
(Huntsville, TX). All applications are due April 15. The cost of the trip is FREE. Go to

Featuring: Theatre Production I Students: Katie Cooper, Eddie Cornelius, Jackson Currie,
Ryan Geiser, Danielle Muniz, Andrew Orozco, Katie Robertson, Joelle Savage, Jeremy
Skinner, Audrey Townend, Amanda Zabolotny; Theatre Production II Students: Lacy
Abercrombie, Alex Cass, Makynzie Stevens, Melanie Tomic; and Theatre Production III
Students: Zane Brown, Evan Brumbelow, Rachel Hilton, Tyler Russell, Sara Woodard &
Mekel Wright

Our student written show always possess these attributes of collaboration, interaction, the
release and control of student strengths, risk-taking and experimentation. This year's
show is made up of student-written scenes derived from the theme LISTEN. Join us for
this fantastic show-case of student work. A favorite of the year!

Fund Raisers

(New) Nacho Ordinary Fundraiser! The class of 2012's Prom is in a short while, so we
are having a fundraiser Mexican Style! Proceeds will benefit the Class of 2012 Senior
Activities and Prom. South of the Border Soiree is for parents and other adult community
members. The event is limited to the first 150 CASH sponsors of $75 or more, per
person. It includes entertainment, food, silent auction, a fun raffle and a table
tournament.

Sponsorship levels are as follows:


GOLD contributors $150 or more per person
SILVER contributors $100 or more per person
BRONZE contributors $75 or more person
