Final Project Overview and Timeline

Final Project Overview

For your HIS 125 final project, create a presentation evaluating the effects of various events on
U.S. history. From the list below, choose five political, social, or economic events or changes that
occurred between 1865 and 1945:

1. The Fourteenth Amendment

2. Western expansion
3. Railroads
4. City life and city culture
5. The political machine
6. Wilson’s Fourteen Points
7. Progressivism
8. World War I
9. Pearl Harbor
10. World War II

Select two additional events or changes occurring between 1865 and 1945 that you consider
significant. Your selections should be political, social, or economic in nature and not in the list
provided above.

Create a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint presentation addressing the following points of
the seven selections you chose:

• Describe your selections and explain their significance at the time they occurred.
• Explain how your seven selections shaped current society. How might our society be
different without those events, advances, or changes?

Include detailed speaker’s notes on each slide and a reference slide in your presentation. Cite at
least five sources to support your presentation. The presentation, including citations and
references, must follow APA formatting guidelines.

There are no stipulations on how you format your presentation. Be creative with fonts, styles,
images, and formatting. Be sure, however, that your presentation maintains a logical flow, is easy
to follow, and that the formatting and style do not take away from the content. Limit your text on
each slide to approximately five lines per slide and approximately five words per bulleted item.
You may include images in your presentation if you would like, although, they are not required.
