The Master of Science in Geographic Informa-
tion Science degree (MSGISc), offered entirely
online, is jointly provided by the University of
Denvers college of professional and continu-
ing studies, University College, and the De-
partment of Geography and the Environment.
University College also offers a graduate cer-
ticate in GIS both online and on campus at the
University of Denver. Masters students seeking
an MSGISc typically start at University College,
where they will earn a graduate certicate be-
fore seeking admission to the Department of
Geography and the Environment, where they
will nish the masters degree.
Courses with the GIS prex are offered by University College. Courses with the
GEOG prex are offered by the Department of Geography and the Environment,
where students must be separately admitted at a later date
Completion of a minimum 48 credit hours (24 GIS & 24 GEOG) that includes all
required coursework with the exception of prerequisite courses
Completion of a capstone project
Master of Science in Geographic Information Sciences (MSGISc)
General Requirements: The GIS graduate certicate is comprised of 24 credit hours
of coursework, which includes 8 credit hours of required courses and 16 credit hours of electives.
A bachelors degree is required for admission.
