M ere than 50 veers ago Eladio Mueta handcrafted his first knife. It was undoubtedly a fine piece of craftsmanship that was the beginning of a saqa that would bring about a company offering hundreds of models that were to make his logo and name famous around the world.

The first knife Eladio manufactured soon convinced many collectors to obtain more of his models. Times were difficult, he worked without the help of industrial processes to make his work easier, but they also served to demonstrate this self-taught craftsman's abilities and tenacity. Ihev also confirmed the growing acceptance his knives enjoyed, the quality of the materials he used and the finishing he gave to all his products. The latter was always the most important aspect of all his products.

It was not long before the small workshop had to be moved and become a factory as demand for Muela's knives grew and orders began to be received from abroad.

As the years passed, Manufacturas Muela's catalogue of products grew in the number of designs and options. At the same time, the company's presence in shows and fairs both in Spain and abroad helped to increase the importanc:eand international renown ofa brand that was beginning to consolidate its position in the market.

Today Manufacturas Muela has modern technical, industrial and sales installations. The company is equipped to serve large order that come from around the world. Nevertheless, a part of the company's production is still dedicated to pieces whose craftsmanship sets them aside from the pr oducts produced by other manufacturers

Current production volume amounts to around 350,000 pieces a year. Once the metals (mainly high-quality martesitic steel alloyed with chrome, vanadium and molybdenum) are chosen afrom the foundry depending on the different mocets. all the main processes needed to produce each knife are carried out in the factory. Modern machines execute steps ranging from the cutting of metal sheets, the different mechanised steps foreseen in the knives' design, grinding, poJishing as wen as the different heat and finishing treatments. Many of these are assisted by computerised technology and controlled by highly qualified staff.

La production actual de Manufacturas Muela Sf' cifra en unas 350.000 piezas a! anD. Many Muela models have the attractive accessory of deer horn handles. This material is also selected, prepared and adjusted at our own premises. The tactcrv also has a trimmings department where the skins that are later to become the knife cases that come with the different models are cut, sewn and finished.

Despite the production advantages provided by modern technology, ManufacturasMuela prides itself in conserving a high level of craftsmanship in many of the knives it produces.

The traditional file and the experience of our craftsmen's hands are used

to produce models of an exceptionally high quality.

Once the manufacturing process is finished and the different quality control checks passed, the pieces go the department in charge of finishing the knives. There they are marked with

their distinctive name and the Manufacturas Muela logo. Finally, they are individually

packaged and go to the warehouse to be packaged in sets to go to our customers.

This obviously is more important for luxurv knives, which are normally produced in limited and numbered

decorations made from silver. The best silversmiths make these accessortes. Likewise these models are made with handles made from the most select deer horn

or valuable or

exotic woods. The

latter tend to be more difficult to work than
