Job Duties: • Works with Childcare Center Director and Assistant Director to
plan and implement a child development program for young
children and classroom teachers that meet developmentally
appropriate practices, along with other federal, state and local
requirements.
• Complies with the Texas Department of Family and Protective
Services (TDFPS) minimum standards for a licensed Child Care
Center.
• Complies with the Texas Rising Star standards and criteria to
ensure compliance and maintain the Center’s status.
• Supports and maintains the implementation of the High Scope
Approach/Curriculum.
• Maintains on-going documentation on children’s progress using
the High Scope Observation (COR) Tool.
• Maintains a positive and nurturing relationship with the
children, Child Development Specialists, and parents.
• Implements and adapts intervention strategies for children.
• Participates in parent conferences.
• Attends staff meetings, trainings and other work-related
functions.
• Maintains Program self-assessment related to each of NAEYC
program standards.
• Collects and maintains documentation of families’ self-study
involvement for the NAEYC accreditation.
• Accommodates diversity in the classroom curriculum to meet
NAEYC accreditation.
• Continues Program improvement by recognizing the assessor’s
professional judgment for the NAEYC accreditation.
• Provides developmental screening that meets the normative
scores and screens of the sensory, language, cognitive, gross motor
and social-emotional factors.
• With guidance, evaluates the screening outcomes and referrals
to appropriate professionals.
• Implements and instructs the children’s daily curriculum.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills: Education – Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work,
Child Psychology or related field. Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally
appropriate practices for young children
Experience - Two (2) years experience as a classroom teacher of young
children in a child development center or other educational facility. Annual
completion of 15 hours of child care and development training in order to meet
the requirements of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
Equipment – Standard office equipment including personal computer,
fax, telephone, printer, plotters, scanners and copiers. Use of Microsoft
Office Suite.
License/Certifications – Must have Adult/Child/Infant CPR and First Aid
Training by the American Heart association or other accredited organization.
Other: Negative TB test and first shot of Hepatitis B vaccination series.
Criminal Background Check and background clearance through Texas
Department of Family and Protective Services.
Working Conditions: Usual office work environment. Attendance (after work hours and occasionally
on the weekends) at child care and development training provided by local
entities; attendance at local, state and national conferences; Center/family
functions, parent meetings that often occur after hours and on weekends. Must
be able to regularly lift 40 pounds with or without accommodation;
occasionally lift 10 pounds over head with or without accommodation.
Frequent stooping, squatting, bending, sitting, standing, crawling, dancing,
rolling on the floor, and performing calisthenics. Tact, diplomacy and
judgment necessary in dealing with others. Demonstrated independent
decision-making and problem solving ability. Within the scope of position
duties, responsible for seeing that operations are effective and efficient, assets
are safeguarded, reliable data is maintained, and applicable laws, regulations,
policies, and procedures are complied with.
Minimum Salary: $27,864 per year.

Required Skills: Education – Bachelor’s degree plus 18 graduate credit hours in direct
counseling courses leading towards a Master’s degree in Counseling and
Guidance, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling
or Social Work.
Experience -Two (2) years of professional experience in education, social
service agencies or mental health practice.
Equipment – Proficiency in use of PCs for standard office work (student
information tracking, presentations, web researches, etc.)
Working Conditions: May work in areas where special hazards exist. May spend long periods of
time standing or sitting. Must be able to perform moderate lifting (25 lbs.),
bending, and reaching to move equipment, etc. Exposure to outside
environment such as hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments. Some work
in restricted spaces will be required. Must be able to work while wearing a
respirator.
