Q. Hi, I have received the rules pack for the WH doubles, within the scenario section it states:
“Players calculate victory points using the Doubles Tournament Points Rules”.
Nowhere within the pack does it detail what the Doubles Tournament Points Rules are.

A. Please Note: Due to an error in the printing of the pack, the following information
has been omitted. Please be aware that this info should now be considered as part of
the scoring for the Doubles Tournament.

Doubles Tournament Victory Points

The Warhammer Doubles Tournament uses a slightly different Victory Points (VPs)
calculation than the usual one found on page 198 of the Warhammer rulebook.

Victory Points (VPs) are awarded as follows:

• You receive VPs equal to the points value of each enemy unit either destroyed, fleeing or
having fled the table.

• Each independent character is counted as a separate unit for this purpose, and
characters mounted on monsters are also counted separately from their mount.

• You also receive VPs for each enemy unit reduced to below half its original starting
number of models; you score VPs equal to half the unit’s points value (round up).

• Independent models reduced to half their starting number of Wounds count for the
purposes of this rule.

• Do not count this for units that have already been wiped out, as detailed in the first rule
above.

• Divide the table into four quarters. Each table quarter that contains at least one of your
units with a Unit Strength of 5 or more that is not fleeing, and no enemy units which are
not fleeing, counts as controlled by your Army. Whichever side controls the most table
quarters scores +200 VPs.

• If a unit straddles two or more table quarters, they can only contest the quarter that the
majority of the unit occupies. If this is fairly equal than they must pick which table quarter
they are claiming as such units cannot claim both table quarters.

• If you have slain the enemy General, or if they are fleeing or have fled the table, you gain
+100 VPs.

• Please remember to be clear about which Hero in your Army is the General in this game.
See the Team Play notes above.

• Whichever Army has captured the most enemy banners at the end of the battle gains
+100 VPs.

• If you have captured the enemy Battle Standard at the end of the battle you gain +100
VPs.

Q. I've just spotted something. Page 5 of the rules pack, a distrustful ally comes up against a
trusted ally and the trustful gets to pick the scenario? Where's the advantage with being
distrustful? I mean you get -1Ld within 6" and you don't pick the scenario. That must be wrong
surely.
A. Thanks for the spot on that. Here is the correct table to follow for this event:

ARMY B ►
ARMY A ▼
Battle Brothers Trusted Allies Distrustful Allies
Lowest points value Army
Battle Brothers chooses
Trusted Allies choose Distrustful Allies choose

Lowest points value Army

Trusted Allies Trusted Allies choose

Distrustful Allies choose

Distrustful Allies Distrustful Allies choose Distrustful Allies choose

Q. If the two opposing forces both have one half that is Bretonnian and they both decide to
pray, how do you decide who gets to chose the first turn?
A. If both armies contain Bretonnian forces, and they both wish to pray for their first turn,
then players should follow the result of the dice roll they made to see who goes first as per the
scenarios. Both sides then start with the benefit of having prayed. The game will still take 6
turns to complete.

Q. If a mixed force of Bretonnian and Empire wish to pray, do the Empire get to move while
the Bretonnians are in prayer?
A. No. If the Bretonnians pray, then out of respect, the Empire may do nothing that turn.

Q. If an army contains mixed elements of Bretonnians and Empire, do the Bretonnians get
the benefit of the extra character special rule?
A. No. The combined 1500pt army is entitled to 3 heroes, 2 of which must go to the
Bretonnians in order to fulfil their special rule for the army standard bearer. However, if both
forces are composed of Bretonnians, then we will allow a fourth hero, as per the Bretonnian
special rules.

Q. Can a non-Bretonnian army gain any benefit from the Bretonnian Battle Standard bearer
in their army?
A. Yes. Treat the Battle Standard Bearer as per the rules in the Warhammer Fantasy Battle
Rule book.
Q. Will the Kislev Book be valid for use this year?
A. Unfortunately not. Only Warhammer Armies: books that are currently in print will be
included in the event. This includes Chaos Dwarfs not being permitted, but not Dogs of War
for the purposes of this event. Dogs of War will be allowed for this year, with it’s inclusion in
future events on a case by case basis.

However, there is nothing to stop you using Kislev models to ‘Count As’ Empire troops. This
way you can still use the army in the competition.

Q. I am using empire and my friend using wood elves.

1. Can a warrior priest use some of his prayers on wood elves e.g. healing hand: target
model heals all wounds?
2. Can wood elves wizard cast spells on my empire units?
3. Are all the dispel dice added into one pool or kept separate for the 2 armies?

A. See below. In order…

1. In this instance yes. Where appropriate, one faction’s spells may be applied to the other
factions units.
2. Yes – see previous answer.
3. Each army (the combination of both players’ forces) should be considered as normal
when it comes to the magic phase. For example an army made up of 750pts of Empire
with a level 2 wizard and 750pts of High Elves would generate:

2 power dice in the pool (usable by any wizard)

+ 2 power dice for the Empire wizard (only usable by the Empire wizard)
+ 2 power dice for the first High Elf wizard (only usable by the first HE wizard)
+ 2 power dice for the second High Elf wizard (only usable by the second HE wizard)

2 dispel dice in the pool

+ 1 dispel dice for each of the level 2 wizards
Equalling 5 dispel dice.

In effect the magic phase is treated the same as playing with a 1500pt army.

The only real change is when using Dwarfs. Dwarf armies should generate 4 dispel dice as
standard. However with doubles it is possible to have only half the army made up of Dwarfs.
When this occurs only 3 dispel dice are generated rather than 4. When the army is a twin
Dwarf army it will generate 4 dispel dice as normal.

Armies which include High Elves gain their +1 to dispel as long as there is a High Elf Mage
alive.

Tomb Kings Magic must still be used in the hieratic order but other wizards from the allied
contingent may cast their spells at any point during the magic phase.

Q. Can a Wargor with the Mark of Tzeentch carry the Staff of Darkoth?
A. The book says that only Bray Shamen may use the item – however, Mark of Tzeentch
says that the Hero is now classed as a Level 2 Wizard. I think that the answer should be no,
as he starts off as a Wargor, rather than a Bray Shamen, and by some twist of fate, or
whatever, he gains the ability to use magic items. He still remains a Wargor with a Chaos
Mark, not a Bray Shamen – No he can’t use the item.
Q. Can Beastmen ambush in the Meeting Engagement. As Scouts still deploy differently I
guess the Beastmen can Ambush but worth confirming.
A. I think that they should be able to Ambush – however, the beastmen units are not classed
as Scouts according to their rules – therefore they follow the Ambush special rules, not Scout
rules.

Q. Will the special rules regarding pursuit (Manflayers may not pursue but gain +100 Victory
Points for each enemy unit they break or wipe out) apply in the tournament?
A. If they are part of the units special rules as written in their army list, then yes. If not, then
no.

Q. The scoring rules for the Meeting Engagement scenario are not clear in the Tournament
Rules Pack. It suggests that table quarters will be worth 500 rather than 200 VPs while the
Warhammer Rules Book suggests that table quarters are worth 100 VPs. Am I missing
something?
A. Yes – see the house rules document.

Q. It seems, within our interpretation of the rulebook, that skirmishers can no longer march
within 8" of enemy models. Is this correct and should we stop harking back to the outmoded
days of 6th edition?

A. See p 15 in the Warhammer Rulebook – ‘Troops can march if there are no enemy troops
within 8”’ In addition, see p65 – Skirmishing models are moved in the same way as individual
man-sized characters on foot…the entire unit must form a loose group or line with models no
more than 1” apart.’

Q. You need a strength 5 unit to control a sector but as the notes are written you only seem
to need a strength 1 unit to contest a sector. This does not seem to be correct. Then again
maybe a sector is only contested if both sides have a strength 5 unit controlling it. Help!

A. The phrase you are looking at is “if there are two opposing units equidistant from the
objective then neither side gains the bonus”.

Because it does not state the unit strengths requirements of these units to contest, you are
asking whether they need to have US 5 or not.

It is very clear that the intention of the rules is that only US 5 units count so in order to contest
at all you must have US 5.

Anything less does not count.
