Served as an Emergency Actions Controller (EAC) in United
States Africa Command (AFRICOM) Joint Operations Center (JOC) Emergency Action (
EA) Cell. My responsibilities included:
*Assisted with the effective liaison and coordination among various leaders and
organizations (e.g., President, Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chie
fs of Staff, Joint Staff, National Military Command Center (NMCC), Department of
State, American Embassies, Central Intelligence Agency, National Security Agenc
y, Federal Bureau of Investigations, AFRICOM Commander, Directorates, Divisions,
Components, other combatant commands, and garrison agencies (e.g., fire departm
ent, security police).
*Received, processed, and executed CJCS/AFRICOM EA procedures in accordance with
CJCS/AFRICOM EA directives.
*Coordinated with JOC Team Chief/JOC Operations Officer regarding AFRICOMs respo
nse to CJCS EAMs, real-world operations & exercises.
*Received and disseminated changes in readiness conditions (e.g., Continuity of
Government Readiness Conditions (COGCON), Information Condition (INFOCON), Defen
se Condition (DEFCON), Force Protection Condition (FPCON)) to Africa Command and
six (6) components.

ical direction to EA cell controllers and communication technicians.

implementing all required checklists used on the console (i.e., Joint Staff dire

roller basic checklist (CBC), and emergency action checklist).

secure and non-secure COCOM command and control communications systems, equipmen
