First…please introduce yourself,

1. Do you agree when Science and Mathematics are teaching in English? Why do you
agree/Why did you do not agree?
2. Do you think the implementation will affect the student’s result?
3. Do you think teaching Science and Mathematics in English will help the students to
compete at international level?
4. Recently, the government wants to abolish PPSMI. Do you think it is relevant for the
teachers and students?
5. In your opinion, what are the initiative that can you suggest to teaching Science and
Mathematics in English?
6. What are the responds of parents towards PPSMI?

Answer:

1. Yes because science and mathematics is a subject taught in the entire world, so if we

want to further ours studies abroad in the fields of science and mathematics, we will be
hard to understand if  it was taught in Malay because this subject usually was taught in
English. In addition, many science and mathematics textbooks were published by
the state of the world famous publishers was produced in English, if we learn science
and mathematics in English, we would be easy to understand and most
important reason is that if we want to compete with the world in the field of
science and math we should be fluent in speaking English because English is
the language of the world.
2. No. whether it is taught in English or Malay, it will not affect our learning. Only our
understanding in concept of learning that will affect us in study.
3. Yes because it is the world language, therefore to compete with them, first of all we
have to learn and understand their language.
4. Probably only relevant to the teachers, but in no way the students. Students no longer
learn science and mathematics in English may not get its effect, but for students who
have studied science and mathematics in English, it will be difficult for them to grasp it
back in the Malay language.
5. In my opinion, learning techniques in the English language should be changed to suit the
learning environment. Probably the only teaching manual is not very effective for
students. But if we use teaching aids such as computers and LCD may be the
students will better understand each subject even it is taught in English.
6. For parents, of course, has no impact on them about language that has being

taught to students in learning. What is most important for parents are the results of

their children.
