IDENTITY OF BEST
VISION

SIGNATURE SYMBOLISM
The signature of BEST is the key component of the organisations visual identity. It is represented by two elements: the logomark and logotype which have to appear together in order to create a valid signature of BEST. The logomark is a simple shape with the look of a rotating three tipped, three coloured star.

EMPOWERED DIVERSITY
The logomark represents three people coming together from 3 different directions, putting their heads together. This is the way how we work, arriving from different backgrounds and working together in order to have great achievements.

DEVELOPING STUDENTS
The three arms of the star start at the outside before pin wheeling towards the centre. As they spiral inwards, they grow and develop - symbolizing the growth and development of the skills and knowledge of students that form the soul of BEST.

The twisted elements of the logomark express a rotation which shows BEST as a dynamic organisation that is continuously developing itself.

BEST Signature can be used without the name of group, usually when representing more than one local group or the entire organisation of BEST. Usage of this logo is prefered.

The name of the local group is written under the BEST logotype and is aligned to the end of the letter T. The local group name is always written with capital Latin letters and britannic spelling.

Also signature without the explanation, of what BEST stands for, is available.

In case the name of the local group length reaches the beginning of the letter B, then it is aligned to it from the right side. The local group name is always written with capital Latin letters and britannic spelling.

SIGNATURE COLOURS

The primary signature uses the 3 colours for the logomark and blue for the logotype. It can be used on any background as long as it is not affecting the visibility of the symbol.

In black and white the signature has to be in contrast, in order to ensure the good visibility. Greyscale version is forbiden for use since it allways has infirior visbility compering to the full black and white version

Single coloured versions can be used also as long as the background is not affecting the visibility of the signature. When using the single coloured version is strongly recommended to use them in one of three official BEST Colours

SAFE SPACE
A safe area around the BEST signature must be preserved to ensure the maximum legibility. No elements such as typography, other logos, graphics or photos may intrude upon this safe area, unless it is used as light background elements. In addition, placing the logo too close to a cut or folded edge also interferes with the safe space.

MINIMUM SIZE
Signature variations of BEST must never appear smaller than shown below. The minimum size will ensure that the signature is clearly visible in all kinds of reproduction. This size is dened by minimum height of signature.

MARGINS
The margin unit (M) is the element of measure, which sets the position of the signature in reproduction. The margin unit only depends on the width of the ma terial considered. The margin unit dened by the formula: 1M = material width 21

As shown below, the height of the signature is 3 times the margin unit. The margin unit always consists the size of the safe space. its recomended to place The brand signature in left top or right down corner of the material to keep coherency with other produced designs.

UNACCEPTABLE USES
In order to have BEST recognised clearly in all the marketing materials, it is essential to use the BEST signature in the right way. This is why the incorrect usage should be avoided. Here you can nd some of the unacceptable uses of the BEST signature.
LBG

Never use LBG, small caps or non latin letters in the BEST signature.

Never use the gray-scale version of the BEST signature.

Never outline the BEST signature.

Use the appropriate colours for each signature variation.

Never substitute the font face of the logotype.

Never tilt the signature.

Never distort the shape of the signature.

Never rearrange the order of the logomark colours.

Never rearrange the elements of the signature.

Never place the signature over a background that can affect its visibility.

COLOURS
Ofcial colours of BEST
The ofcial colours of BEST are green, blue and orange. These colours represent the three different target groups: partners, universities and students. They are coming together from different directions showing that BEST connects them. Green represents universities and symbolises traditions, harmony and contentment. Blue represents partners and symbolises honesty, integrity and trustworthiness. Orange represents students and symbolises creativity, happiness and condence.

Additional colours
Another palette of colours similar to the ofcial ones was included for added exibility. These colours would be used in the design elements and other graphics. They would never replace the primary (signature) colour palette of green, blue and orange. Text on BEST documents will be coloured using the grey in the colour palette. This ensures readability of the text while eliminating the harshness of black.

TYPOGRAPHY
These three typefaces have been chosen for the BEST visual identity. They are to be used in all printed or virtual marketing materials. Each of the three fonts was selected for its visual compatibility with the BEST signature and for the consistency that they have inside the BEST brand.

TAHOMA

The primary typeface of BEST is Tahoma. This is the typeface used inside the BEST signature. Because of its simple and clear form, the logotype of BEST is represented in a visible form. Besides the logotype, this typeface should be used for headlines in printed or online materials.

In the headlines, Arial is an acceptable substitute for Tahoma when Tahoma is unavailable. Arial can be used in text and projected presentations.

Verdana is the typeface used in the online applications. Its wide space between characters makes it readable on screens.

DESIGN ELEMENTS
The sinusoid
As a symbol of technology, the sinusoid is used as a design element. Along the sinusoid line there is another dashed line of similar shape. The colour of this line should be the corespondant second additional colour. The sinusoid can be rotated in increments of 90 to appear on any border of the material, it can be moved closer or further from an edge by varying the amount of solid colour space, it can also be used as a division between media, by placing one type of content on one side of the sinusoid and the other content on the other side.

BEST watermark
BEST watermark is derived from BEST logomark and it can be used only on background, in any color with a transparency value from 5% to 20% so it does not disturb the foreground. It is not allowed to rotate, outline or apply any kind of visual effects to it.

Map of Europe
To underline the European background of BEST, the map of Europe can be used as one of the design elements. The map can be used in the following congurations: Outlined map Coloured map Map with marked BEST groups

Headlines
One of the design elements are the Headlines which, in the case of multiple-word headline, should contain of two colours. One is an ofcial colour and the second is supportive from the same palette. The dashed underlining is always coloured using the proper BEST colour.
