2. COMPOSITION / POLYMER INGREDIENTS Common chemical name: Polyethylene terephthalate

May contain additives and spin finishes, which are all included in the EINECS/ ELINCS inventory of chemical substances.

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION Potential health effect: ADVANSA PET staple fiber itself is not hazardous. Nevertheless, a significant level of airborne fibers and mists from residual moisture and surface lubricants should be avoided. The lubricants on the fiber have been toxicologically evaluated and found to be generally of low order of toxicology.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Suitable extinguishing media: Specific hazards Water and all commonly extinguishing media PET fibers will burn if exposed to fire. Depending on temperature and availability of oxygen; combustion gases contain mainly water, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. In case of smoke wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Should not require special measures for clean-up. Shovel or sweep up for disposal. A routine cleaning of processing areas is necessary to avoid accumulation of dust.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Technical protective measures: Exposure to fiber fly, dust and decomposition products of spin finishes should be avoided by ventilation or vacuum cleaning. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Avoid dust formation in confined areas. During processing, dust may form explosives in air. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Store siliconised fibers in a building with sprinklers.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION If used under normal conditions, there is no known negative health effect alleged to this fiber. Animal tests confirm negligible toxicity. For critical end-uses such as food contact or medical applications, please consult your supplier first.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION This product is not associated with any known negative ecological effects. Spin- and overlay-finishes will be removed by water, which should be treated in a waste water plant to comply with local regulations.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS This product can be recycled, disposed off as solid waste in landfills, or burned in suitable installations subject to local regulations.

14. TRANSPORT INFORMATIONS PET fibers are not classified as dangerous good compared with UN, EC IATA or any derived organization regulations.

15. REGULATORY INFORMATION As an article, the product does not need to be labeled in accordance with EC directives or respective national rules.
