The bible, the word of God or holy scriptures are also known by other names.

It consists of sixtysix books with various writers over many centuries from all walks of life. They were inspired or moved and spoken to by the spirit of God. Today the Lord God and Savior the Lord Jesus Christ is still moving in the hearts and minds of His sons and daughters, those who are open to His way, will and word. 1) The word of God. "But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." (Luke 11:28) 2) The word of life. "Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain." (Philippians 2:16) 3) The word of (Jesus) Christ. "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." (Colossians 3:16) 4) The book. "Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me." (Psalm 40:7) 5) The book of the law. "Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee." (Deuteronomy 31:26) 6) The holy scriptures. "Which he had promised afore (before) by his prophets in the holy scriptures." (Romans 1:2) 7) A lively oracles. "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us." (Acts 7:38) 8) The Scriptures. "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39) 9) The sword of the (Holy) Spirit. "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17) 10) The good word of God. "And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come." (Hebrews 6:5) We are instructed concerning the word of God to neither add or subtract from it, but instead follow it completely to be saved. "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." (Deuteronomy 4:2) It's a living thing that can grants us both wisdom and discernment in all matters. "For the word of God is quick (alive), and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12) His word will stir up and break through the hard hearts of men. "Is not my word like as a fire? said the LORD; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?" (Jeremiah 23:29) "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:37-38) We become "Born Again" by and through the word of God. "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Peter 1:23) The word of God, Jesus and God are one and the same. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:1-2, 14) The Lord God looks in all the world for any man (or woman) whose heart is toward Him. "For the eyes

of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars." (2 Chronicles 16:9) That type of person will hear and fear His word. "For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word." (Isaiah 66:2) His word is sent with a set purpose and will always prosper. "So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) If we love Jesus we will keep His word. "He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me." (John 14:24) To hear and obey the word is life. "My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life." (Proverbs 6:20-23) To disobey it means death. "So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it." (1 Chronicles 10:13) It will judge us in the last day. "And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day." (John 12:47-48) The servants of God will speak forth His word, and those who hear us hear the voice of God. "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God." (John 8:47) May the word of God keep and bless you always, granting peace, mercy and truth along with eternal life to you.
