3. APPLICANTS TO NOTE
1. Before filling in the application read the Prospectus carefully. Preserve the Prospectus till the completion of the course. 2. The Applicant has to detach and fill in the following : (1) Application Form, (2) Computer Coding Sheet and (3) Address Slip. 3. The Application must be accompanied by All the Original Certificates as stated in the Prospectus and the Registration Fee of Rs. 150/-. Candidate seeking admission in the Study Centre / Participatory Programme Centres and other Centres to Provide the Original certificate in these centre for admission. 4. The Applicant has to state clearly the Degree Course and Subject which he/she wants to study. 5. Photographs to be affixed : 1. One on the Application Form [Attested by a Gazetted Officer / Faculty / DR / AR of the University with Seal] 2. One on the Address Slip. 3. One on the reverse side of the Coding Sheet.
ATTENTION ATTENTION
Students can seek admission only at Single Window Admission Centre / Spot Admission Centres / Study Centres / Participatory Programme Centres listed in the prospectus / University Website. Students are advised not to have any dealing with any other unauthorised Institutions/ Agencies pertaining to admission to any of the courses offered by this Institute. They are cautioned that admission secured from unauthorised centres will be automatically cancelled.

All the columns in the application form should be filled in carefully. Incomplete application forms will be rejected.

The xerox copy of the statement of marks of the qualifying examination accompanying the application form must be attested by a Gazetted Officer and also by the Co-ordinator of the Spot Admission Centre / Study Centre in the case of Spot Admission.
Designated Banks - State Bank of India / Indian Bank / IOB SINGLE WINDOW ADMISSION CENTRE AT IDE CAMPUS, Chennai
With a view to simplify the admission procedure for the distance education students, the University of Madras has opened a Single Window Admission Centre at the IDE building at Chepauk Campus, Chennai. Located in a spacious hall, the Single Window Admission Centre ensures admission in thirty minutes. Students seeking admission at IDE Campus of the University at Chennai can make use of this Centre. Students using the Single Window Admission Centre should follow the following instructions: 1. 2. 3. Collect the Application-cum-Prospectus from the Prospectus Sales Counter on payment in cash. Pay the registration fee at the Registration Fee Payment Counter. Enter the Single Window Admission Counter with filled-in application form, collect the token and wait for your turn. Candidates seeking admission to degree courses should submit the mark statements of 10th Standard and 12th Standard (+2) and also the Transfer Certificate. Candidates seeking admission to post-graduate degree courses should submit the provisional certificate or degree certificate of the qualifying degree and also the transfer certificate from the last studied institution. The xerox copies of the Certificates will be verified with the originals and the original certificates will be returned along with the provisional admission letter. After obtaining the provisional admission letter, the students can remit the specified fees at the Bank Counter located at the Centre. Payment may also be done at the State Bank of India or Indian Bank branches within the University Campus or at any one of the designated Banks. After remitting the fees, the students can collect the study materials and ID card from the respective counters located in the Single Window Admission Centre. SPOT ADMISSION
1. Spot admission to the first year will be given to those who come to the Institute in person or at the Spot Admission Centres and Study Centres along with the required original documents/certificates. 2. Eligible candidates who seek spot admission can collect their first year learning materials at the Spot Admission Centres and Study Centres (including the Institute) by producing their copy of the payment Challan endorsed by the designated Bank. For particulars of total fees to be paid (excluding Registration Fee), please refer Page Nos. 29 to 34 Fee Particulars - Course-Wise. 3. The second year learning materials can also be collected by the students at the Spot Admission Centres including at the Institute and Study Centres on production of the students copy of payment challan endorsed by the designated Bank.
ADMISSION THROUGH PARTICIPATORY INSTITUTIONS (Campus Learning Centres) The Students who are willing to do the Courses of the Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras as regular week end programmes through Participatory Institutions [Campus Learning Centres] can refer to page 50 for the list of Participatory Institutions and Participatory Online Institutions.
Students who have undergone the first year Postgraduate course in institutions abroad must submit along with the application an EQUIVALENCE CERTIFICATE obtained either from the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi. Students applying for lateral admission must enclose the Transfer Certificate or Course Completion Certificate issued by the Institution where they did the First Year Postgraduate course. The certificate should clearly state the period of study without giving scope for any ambiguity. The syllabus enclosed should be attested by the Principal / Head of the Department of the Institution where they studied. Only after a proper scrutiny of these documents a decision on granting exemption shall be taken. Provisional admission will be given with the condition that the student appear for all the papers of the First year course. However, after the scrutiny of the syllabus, the decision regarding exemption will be communicated to the student individually. Student seeking lateral admission from other Universities and Autonomous Colleges are NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CLASSIFICATION. Students from colleges affiliated to the University of Madras coming under a different regulation / pattern are also NOT ELIGIBLE FOR CLASSIFICATION.

PASSING MINIMUM A candidate shall be declared to have passed the examination if he/she obtains not less than 50% of the marks in each Paper / Practical / Project. Classification of Successful Candidates Candidates who have secured not less than 60% of the aggregate marks in the whole examination shall be declared to have passed the examination in FIRST CLASS. All other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed in SECOND CLASS. Candidates who obtain 75% of the marks in the aggregate shall be deemed to have passed the examination in FIRST CLASS with DISTINCTION provided they pass all the examinations prescribed for the course in the first appearance. Candidates who pass all the examinations prescribed for the course at the first instance and within a period of two academic years from admission to the course alone are eligible for RANKING.

6. GENERAL INFORMATION
CERTIFICATES TO BE ENCLOSED WITH APPLICATION FOR POSTGRADUATE COURSES
The following original Certificates/Documents with one set of xerox copies attested by competent authority should be sent along with the application form for admission to M.A. / M.Music / M.Com. / M.Sc. Courses : (a) Transfer Certificate from the Head of the Institution where the applicant last studied. (b) Statement of Marks of the Qualifying examination. Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination (Degree Course) from this University / other Universities should enclose all the original statements of marks right from their secondary school education along with the application form. (c) Provisional Pass Certificate / Degree (Diploma) Certificate of the Qualifying examination. (d) If the certificates are in a language other than ENGLISH / TAMIL, an authenticated translation in English duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should be sent along with the original certificates. (e) Candidates who have not undergone and passed the qualifying examinations under 10 + 2 + 3 or
11 + 1 + 3 or 11 + 2 + 2 pattern or Open University system of this University / other recognised
Universities need not apply, as they are not eligible for admission. Failure to submit any one or more of the above certificates / documents may entail rejection of their application. The application form duly filled-in and signed by the candidate along with all the original certificates mentioned above (a,b,c) for admission to M.A., M.Music., M.Com., and M.Sc., Courses, together with Registration Fee of Rs.150/- for the Post-Graduate Courses by means of challan paid through the designated Bank should be sent by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due or submitted in person to The Director, IDE, University of Madras, Chennai - 600 005 for Spot Admission at IDE, Chennai / the Co-ordinators of the respective Spot Admission Centres in Tamil Nadu / Study Centres outside Tamil Nadu listed in the prospectus.The Registration Fee paid by means of designated BANK challan towards admission for
the above courses is not refundable under any circumstances.
A Course Completion Certificate will be issued by the Institute on completion of the course or on discontinuance for the period completed. Such candidates are permitted to take the examinations in which they have not passed even after the issue of the Course Completion Certificate till the regulations with which the candidate has undergone the course is in force.

All the original certificates should be attached at the top left corner of the application form with a tag or string to prevent them from getting lost. Candidates are advised to take sufficient number of attested copies of their original certificates before sending them to the Institute. Candidates pursuing any other course of study at this Institute or elsewhere are eligible for admission to one additional course at the Certificate or Diploma level offered by this Institute. They will not be permitted to join any other additional degree course offered by the Institute. Admission to candidates who have qualified from other Universities/Bodies will be considered only on the condition that their previous qualifications are recognised by this University. However, action will be taken to recognise the examination of a recognised University provided the syllabus of the qualifying examination is produced by the candidate, subject to approval by the authorities of this University.

Students admitted through the Study Centre are advised to forward the payment challan endorsed by the designated Bank to the Study Centre for onward transmission to the Director and for collecting the learning materials from the Study Centre. Fees once remitted will not be refunded or adjusted in any manner under any circumstances. Prescribed text books are not supplied to the candidates by the Institute of Distance Education. Hence they are advised to get them from the book-sellers. However, the syllabi and the learning materials will be sent to the candidates. Learning materials will be supplied at the Personal Contact Programme/Study Centre/SpotAdmission Centres. Those who are not able to receive at the centre may request the Director to despatch the learning materials by post. The last date for receipt of the tuition fee and postage & stationery fee etc., for all the Second year Postgraduate Courses is 13.07.2012 for the Academic Year Admission, and 9.02.2013 for the Calendar Year Admission.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Students who want to discontinue their courses after the completion of first/second year should inform the Director, IDE., before 31st May of every year. Otherwise, full fees will be collected for the subsequent years. Only after receiving the entire fees, his/her Course Completion Certificate will be issued. Legal dispute, if any, relating to Admission / Examinations of IDE. will be subject to Chennai Jurisdiction only. Visually and other physically challenged applicants are advised not to apply for the Practical oriented M.Sc. Degree Courses.
METHOD OF INSTRUCTION
(1) The method of instruction is (a) mailing or distributing learning materials periodically to the students enrolled and (b) personal contact programme. For each paper of study, a set of learning materials is given to the students. The learning materials can be collected by the students or his/her representative personally from the Institute/ Study Centres/ Spot Admission Centres on production of the students copy of the payment endorsed BANK challan. These learning materials will guide the students in effective learning. In courses where attendance is compulsory, if a student does not attend the compulsory contact programme, he/she is not eligible to appear for the University Examinations (Theory and Practical). If candidates appear for the University Examinations (Theory and Practical) without adequate attendance in the compulsory personal contact programme, they do it at their own risk and it leads to cancellation of their appearance in the Examinations.

The Personal Contact Programme classes will be arranged for the benefit of the students in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at the Study Centres in India. This programme is meant for classroom lectures on important topics and clearing the doubts of the students. Students are advised to attend the classes in their own interest for effective learning. The venue and dates of PCP Classes will be intimated separately.

ADDRESS SLIP
The applicants for admission are required to furnish their address in each of the six slots provided for the purpose on a separate sheet attached to the application form. The admission intimation, original certificates and learning materials will be sent to the address furnished in the Address Slip only. Write the address in capital letters and use ball pen only.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS
All communications and learning materials in the case of those who opt to receive by post, will be sent to the candidates to the address given in the application form. Any change in the address should be intimated to the Institute, Spot Admission Centres and the Study Centres immediately with the enrolment number. Candidates are advised to make necessary arrangements in the post office for their mail to be redirected to their new address in the event of a despatch being sent before the change is effected.
IDENTITY CARD
Identity Card will be issued after the receipt of First Year tuition fee. The Identity Card will be valid till the completion of the course. In the event of a student discontinuing a course, the card shall become invalid for the year / years yet to be completed. Candidates are instructed to preserve their identity cards. They should note that the examination Hall Tickets will be issued by the Chief Superintendent of the Examination Centres, only on production of the identity card. The arrear candidates can use the Identity Card for obtaining Hall Tickets even though the duration of the course of study is over. If the original card is lost, a duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs. 100/- through the designated Bank Challan and the payment endorsed Bank Challan is to be sent for this purpose together with a passport size photograph.
ENROLMENT NUMBER
Enrolment Numbers will be assigned to candidates on admission. The enrolment number will hold good for the entire duration of the course of study. In communications addressed to the Institute, this number should be stated. Letters received without the enrolment number will not be entertained. The Enrolment Number is a twelve digit unique code (alpha-numeric). The first two digits indicate the year of admission. The third, fourth and the fifth the centre, the sixth, seventh and the eighth the subject and last four the actual enrolment number.

SCHOLARSHIP
A) Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who pursue their studies through this Institute are eligible for reimbursement of the fees. They are also eligible for an annual allowance of Rs.500/- towards purchase of essential/prescribed books. The details in this connection can be obtained from the Director, Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras, Chepauk, Chennai - 600 005. The eligible SC/ST students are directed to submit the SC/ST scholarship form during their study at IDE only and it will be accepted after the period of study at IDE on any circumstances. Eligible visually or otherwise physically challenged candidates, can avail themselves of the State Government Scholarship for the Disabled. The prescribed form may be obtained from the District Rehabilitation Officer in the districts concerned for reimbursement of non-refundable fees.

The Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras offers following fee concessions: A. Fee concessions to differently-abled candidates / Prisoners (a) Differently-abled candidates with atleast 40% physical disability and who are in possession of national identity card for disability issued by the competent authorities can pursue distance education programmes offered by the University of Madras with full exemption of tuition fees and special fees. Prisoners of Tamil Nadu will be considered for exemption of tuition fees provided they submit their appliction for admission with a No Objection Certificate issued by the competent authority.

PAYMENT OF FEES
Students are advised to avail themselves of the facility offered by the BANKS designated by the Institute of Distance Education University of Madras, spread all over INDIA for payment of fees relating to remittance of Registration fee, Tuition fee, Examination fee and other fees as applicable without any additional charges. Candidates who have passed any Degree Course (Regular Stream / Open University System) of the University of Madras or any other University recognised by UGC/AIU accepted as equivalent thereto by this University are eligible for admission to the Certificate Courses in Sanskrit, French & German. EXAMINATIONS
1. Candidates are instructed to read the following instructions relating to examinations carefully and take note of the special instructions relating to examinations. 2. Separate intimation regarding examinations and examination applications will not be sent to the students admitted from Academic Year 2011-2012 & Calendar Year Admissions 2012. They have to apply for examinations as and when they are eligible within the prescribed last date. Students should take photo copy of the specimen examination application appended to this Prospectus and submit it to the University before the prescribed last date furnished under serial number 4 below. The examination application can also be downloaded from the IDE website www.ideunom.ac.in 3. The annual main examinations for Students admitted under Calendar Year Stream are conducted at the end of the Calendar Year, i.e., November every year. Subsequently, the supplementary examinations for this batch of students will be conducted during May every year. 4. The last date for submission of filled-in examination application for the Main Examinations (November) is 31st October and for the supplementary examinations (May) is 31st March. 5. While submitting the filled-in application for examination they should enclose the xerox copy of the fees remittance challan towards the tution fees paid till the date of submission of examination application. Otherwise, their applications will not be registered for the examinations.

6. The examinations are conducted at various centres furnished in the examination application appended to this prospectus. However, the University has the right to restrict the number of examination centres depending upon the students strength. In such cases, students choosing a particular centre may be asked to take the examinations in the nearby Examination Centre. 7. Normally two examinations are conducted per day. The fore-noon session is from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and the after-noon session is from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. Those who have cleared all the prescribed papers at the end of each year, will have only one examination per day. 8. Qualitatively, the examinations conducted for the students of Institute of Distance Education are on par with the examinations conducted for the regular College students. 9. The ID card issued by the Institute should be produced at the Examination Centre both for obtaining the hall ticket and for taking the examinations. No other ID card will be accepted for taking the examinations. 10. Even though the students are registered for the courses under English / Tamil Medium according to their choice indicated in the Admission Application form, students are permitted to write their examinations either in Tamil or English irrespective of their choice of medium of instruction at the time of admission. 11. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
I. Rejection of Application : Application form received without ENROLMENT Number as per IDE-Identity Card / Correct Subject Codes / Name of Exam. Centre & Code / Prescribed Examination Fees / Signature of the Candidate or with false details will be rejected at any time and such candidates could not put forth any claim over that on a later stage. The Examination application submitted during Feb / March will be considered only for the subsequent May / June examinations. Similarly applications submitted during Sep / Oct will be considered only for the Nov / Dec. examinations. II. No Refund of Fees : Applications once received from the candidates for the current Examination shall not be used for the subsequent examinations and the fees, if any, paid by the candidate shall not be refunded in any manner or carried over or adjusted for any subsequent future Examinations or for any other purposes under any circumstances. III. Payment of Tuition Fees : Tuition Fees should not be remitted along with the Examination Fees under any circumstances. IV. Not Eligible Candidates : Candidates who have arrears of Tuition fees etc. and those who are not eligible on some other reasons (i.e. Candidates disqualified by the IDE or Booked under Malpractice, etc.) are strictly advised not to apply for the Examination otherwise the Examination taken by them will be summarily cancelled. V. Intimation for Exam. Centre / Exam. Time-table / Hall-Ticket : If Intimation on Examination Centre and Time-table are not received by the candidates in time, the same may be collected from the Leading News Paper Notifications as well as from the IDE Web-site www.ideunom.ac.in well in advance. Accordingly, Hall-ticket should be collected from the Chief Superintendent of the respective Examination Centre alone by the Candidate during three working days before commencement of the First Day of the May/November Examinations by producing Identity Card issued by the Director, IDE without fail. No candidate is allowed to write the IDE Examinations wilhout Identity Card issued by the IDE. No other Identity Card will be entertained on any account for appearing IDE Examinations. VI. Practical and Project will not be conducted on any account during Supplementary Examinations. VII. Arrear Subjects under Old Regulations : Candidates are advised to take their Examinations for arrear papers if any under Old Regulations, by choosing the equivalent papers under the existing syllabus ONLY which are available in the Office of the Addl. Controller of Exams, IDE, failing which their results shall not be declared and no claim will be entertained. INSTRUCTION TO CANDIDATES
01. Application Form / Examination Time-Table / Examination Centre Notification / Publication of Results - will be made available in the university Web-site : www.ideunom.ac.in as and when they are ready. A copy of the Examination Time-Table and the Examination Centre Notification will be sent to the candidates individually by Ordinary Post. However, those candidates who are not in receipt of the same by post, may collect the information from the Web-site as well as from the leading Newspaper Notification. 02. Examination Centres : Candidates shall choose any one of the following Examination Centres to appear for the IDE Examinations. Each Examination Centre is given with a Centre Code. Enter the correct Centre Code and Name of the Examination Centre legibly in the columns provided therefor in the application. The Institute reserves all rights to change any of the Examination Centres at its discretion. In such cases, candidates will be intimated in advance.

03. Change of Examination Centres : Candidates who desires to change their Examination Centre on valid reasons should make their request one month before the commencement of I.D.E. Examinations on payment of prescribed fee of Rs.100/04. Medium : Candidates shall appear for PG Degree Examination as per the Medium of Instructions given in their Admission Prospectus. 05. Candidates appearing for the first time either for First year or Second year should pay the fees for all the papers prescribed. Additional Fees for choosing Examination Centres Located Outside Tamil Nadu: Candidates who wish to appear for the Examinations in the following Examination Centres located outside Tamil Nadu should pay an Additional Fees also as noted below : Bangalore, Cochin, Hyderabad, Kakinada, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Nellore, Patna, Rs.250/- for each appearance Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupathi, Trissur, Vijayawada, Vishakapatnam, Warrangal Delhi, Port Blair, Shillong, Sikkim Rs.300/- for each appearance Baharain, Doha Qatar, Dubai, Singapore, Srilanka - Candidates should forward their Fillcd-in Applications through Study Centre alone 08. Mode of Payment: All Payment of Fees shall be made by way of THREE Part CHALLAN in any one of the designated Bank WITHOUT ANY SERV1CE CHARGE (IDE Copy of the Challan should be submitted) or Account Payee Demand Draft, drawn from any one of the scheduled banks (payable in the city of Chennai) in favour of the Director, Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras, Chennai -600 005. The name and place of the Bank, Demand Draft Number, Date of Payment and the Amount, should be mentioned in the Application Form. The Enrolment Number and Name of Candidate should be mentioned on the backside of the D.D. while submitting along with the Application Form. 09. Blind Candidates are exempted from remitting the Examination fees, as per G.O. Blind Candidates shall be permitted on prior permission from the Additional Controller of Examinations, IDE to appoint a Scribe (other than the Subject holder) to write their Examinations. The remuneration for the Scribe has to be borne only by the Blind candidate. 10. Conduct of Examinations : PG Degree Examinations shall be conducted twice a year. Main Examinations are likely to be held during the month of May and Supplementary Examinations are likely to be held during the month of November every year. 11. Submission of Examination Application Forms : Candidates should submit the application form for May Examination (Main) during the month of February / March and for November Examination (Supplementary) during the month of September / October every year.
12. Conduct of Practical Examinations and Project : Practical Examination and Project will not be conducted during Supplementary Examinations on any account. Practical Examinations will be conducted only at the end of Practical Classes each year only at the PCP Centre for those who have earned the attendance and progress by completing the record note books. Candidates will not be permitted to do Practical Examination or Project directly without submitting prescribed Examination Application Form for Main / Current Examination conducted during May / June with prescribed fees. Otherwise the marks secured by the candidate will not be taken into account. Candidates are instructed to contact the Director, I.D.E. for further details. 13. Malpractice Cases : Candidates who were alleged malpractice at the previous examinations shall be permitted to appear for the subsequent / current examinations at their own risk pending decision.

14. Cancellation of Admission : Candidates whose admissions were cancelled by the Director, I.D.E., should not apply for the examination under any circumstances. Such candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination only on production of Re-admission Intimation obtained from the Director, IDE. If they failed to do so, the examination/s taken by them will be summarily cancelled. 15. Exam. Absentees & Failed Candidates : Candidates who are unable to appear for the Examination or failed in any of the papers during course of study or after completion of the course of study may appear for such papers in the subsequent examinations to qualify for the PG Degree. 16. Arrear Papers under Old Regulations : Candidates admitted into the courses of - M.A. Economics from 1983-84 to 1991-92; M.A.English from 1983-84 to 1998-99 ; M.A. History from 1983-84 to 1995-96 ; M.A. Political Science / Public Administration from 1983-84 to 1996-97; M.A. Tamil from 1983-84 to 1998-1999,, and M.Com. from 1983-84 to 2000-2001 should take their Examinations for arrear papers if any, by choosing the correct equivalent papers under the existing syllabus ONLY which arc available in the Office of the Addl. Controller of Exams, IDE, failing which their results shall not be declared and no claim will be entertained. 17. Improvement of Previous Performance : Candidates qualified for PG Degree can apply for improvement of their previous performance by appearing for examination in any of the paper/s within the very next THREE subsequent appearances only after the completion of the course of Study with a prescribed Exam, fee of Rs.500/- per paper for each appearance. All other candidates who have already qualified for the M.A./ M.Sc./M.Com. Degree shall be permitted to appear for Examination :n any of the paper/s so as to improve their previous performance with Penal Fee of Rs.5000/- for every attempt along with the prescribed Examination fee of Rs.500/-per paper for each appearance, 18. LAST DATE for submission of filled-in Application Forms : It is notified on the top of the Application Form. No application will be entertained under any circumstances after the Last Date. Filled-in Application is to be forwaided to the Director, Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras, I.D.E., Building, Chepauk, Chennai - 600 005 by Registered Post with Acknowledgement Due together with Account Payee Demand Draft or IDE copy of Bank Challan ; (ii) Address Slips (written neatly) The candidates are advised to keep Xerox Copies of all the fees payment details for their future reference. 19. Exemption Orders : If the candidate has been granted any exemption from appearing any paper/s he/she should give full particular/s in the relevants column and also enclose a Xerox Copy of the Exemption Order received from the Director, IDE, in this regard. 20. Hall-Tickets : As per the Examination Centre Notification, candidates should collect their Hall-Tickets for the Examination from the Chief Superintendent of the respective Examination Centre alloted to him / her during three working days before the commencement of the first day of the examination by producing his/her Identity Card issued by the IDE. Hall-Ticket will not be sent to the candidates address under any circumstances. 21. Hall-Ticket Corrections : Any discrepancies found in the Hall Ticket regarding Enrolment No. / Subject Code /Name etc. should be brought immediately to the notice of the Additional Controller of Examinations, IDE for further action. 22. If Hall-Ticket is not found in the Exam. Centre or the eligible Subjects omitted in the Hall-Tickets for the current Examination, candidates can appear for their Examinations under Rule-8, provided the candidates produce proof of evidence for the fees payment details together with the Identity Card issued by the IDE, before the respective Chief Supdt., IDE Exam. Centre. 23. Duplicate Hall-Ticket : The Hall-Ticket should be preserved safely by the candidate until he/she completes the whole examination and should be produced along with his/her Identity Card on each and every session of the examination. No Candidate will be allowed to write the examination without the Identity Card issued by the Director, IDE. No other Identity Card will be entertained for the purpose. Candidates can apply for a Duplicate copy of the Hall-Ticket / Identity Card in the event of loss in transit by remitting the prescribed fee of Rs. IOO/- before the commencement of the Examination. 24. No Refund of Fees : Examination fee once paid for the current Examination will not be refunded in any manner or adjusted for the subsequent future examinations or for any other purposes under any circumstances. Fees paid by the candidates for ineligible requirements, also will not be refunded in any manner. 25. Presence in the Examination Hall : No incriminating materials can be carried inside the Examination Hall. Candidates are expected to be in their seats 10 minutes before the Commencement of the Examination. The Enrolment Number (as per Identity Card issued by the IDE)/Subject/ Subject Code / Date of Examination should be written legibly by the candidates in the appropriate place provided in the Main Answer Book. The Enrolment Number should not be written in any of the inner pages of Main / Additional Answer Scripts on any account. Result will not be declared in case of any deficiency found in the Answer Scripts and they cannot put forth any claim over that on a later stage. 26. Statement of Marks : After publication of results, the Statement of Marks will be sent to the candidates residential address by Registered Post / Speed Post. Candidates should make necessary arrangements to receive the same by giving necessary authorization, if they could not be available in their residence during the time of postal delivery. 27. Results Withheld Cases : The Results and the Statement of Marks of the Candidates who have arrears of Tuition Fee / Exam Fee etc., will be withheld. Such candidates should contact the Additional Controller of Examinations, IDE for further details. 28. Revaluation & Re-totaling : There is no provision in the l.D.E. for Re-totaling of papers for the PG Degree Examination. Application for Direct Revaluation of answer paper should be submitted to the institute within 15 days from the date of publication of results. The fees prescribed for Revaluation is Rs.750/-. The requisition together with fees for revaluation received after the due date and the fees paid by the NOT Eligible Candidates will not be entertained. The fees once paid for the purpose will not be refunded in any manner under any circumstances. 29. Discrepancies in the Publication of Results / Statement of Marks : Queries on the Publication of Results or any discrepancies including Marks NOT AVAILABLE cases found in the Statement of Marks for the current Examination should be brought to the notice of the Additional Controller of Examinations, IDE., within a months time from the date of publications of results since the IDE will preserve the answer scripts of the current Examination for a maximum period of Three months only. No queries will be entertained from the candidate after the stipulated period under any circumstances. 30. Last Date of Examination Certificate : It will be issued to the qualified candidates only on receipt of request with prescribed payment of Rs.200/-. 31. Duplicate Statement of Marks : Candidates may apply for a duplicate copy of the Statement of Marks by paying the prescribed fee : Rs. 100/- upto Five Years; Rs.200/- for more than Five Years but upto 10 years; and Rs.250/- for others. 32. Consolidated Statement of Marks - Candidates who have completed Two year PG Course without any Break of Study in the IDE and qualified for PG Degree with Computerized Marks Statements are ONLY are eligible to apply for Consolidated Mark Statement by paying the prescribed fee (Rs.200/- for each appearance or a maximum fee of Rs.1000/-, if the appearances exceed more than FIVE).

The Practical Examination wherever prescribed will be conducted only at the end of the Practical Classes at the PCP Centres for those who have earned necessary attendance and made required progress by completing the record note books. Such other candidates are advised to contact the Director, Institute of Distance Education, University of Madras, for further details. It will not be conducted during Supplementary Examinations. The Project Classes are conducted for three days. The attendance is compulsory for Project Classes for the purpose of eligibility for submitting the Project Report. Those who have not attended the classes for Project Guidance are not eligible for submitting the Project Report. It will not be conducted during Supplementary Examinations.
