1. Use precise geometrical reasoning to solve problems with angles, lines, circles and polygons

The student should be able to: Apply and interpret the geometric terms: point, line, parallel, bearing, right angle, acute angle, use and interpret the vocabulary of triangles, quadrilaterals, circles and polygons. Write an explanation, calculate and use: sums of the interior angles of quadrilaterals, pentagons and hexagons, interior and exterior angles of polygons. Use the definitions of a circle and its parts. Construct a triangle using straight edge and compasses. Plot the locus of an object moving according to given rules.

The student should be able to draw and interpret the graphs of simple functions, use tables of values and find the gradient of straight line graphs. find the solution of linear and simple simultaneous equations using graphs.

The student should be able to: Collect and tabulate discrete and continuous data, choosing suitable class intervals where appropriate Select, construct and modify suitable graphical representation of data, including frequency polygons and cumulative frequency diagrams. Examine critically the results of a statistical enquiry and draw conclusions Find the median and quartiles and estimate the mean, median and interquartile range of a set of grouped data Understand relative frequency as an estimate of probability and use this to compare outcomes of experiments in a range of contexts.

2. Apply and identify different transformations to 2dimensional figures.

The student should be able to: Transform 2-D shapes by combinations of translations, rotations and reflections. Identify reflection symmetry in 3D shapes. Enlarge 2-D, given a center of enlargement, and a whole number scales factor. Identify the scale factor of an enlargement as the ratio of line segments.

Recognize that enlargements preserve angle but not length. Use and interpret maps and scale drawings.
