HEADQUARTERS PLATOON LT MCDONALD/SSG BIZICH

Greetings from the paradise we know as Afghanistan! The month of July brought a lot of action for Headquarters Platoon. Comanche executed two Troop-level missions and a number of HQ sections played a large role. Comanche was tasked with providing security for a Division-level Assessment Team in the districts of Parun and Wama, Nuristan Province and executed flawlessly. The mortars and snipers were an integral part of Comanches security elements. LT McDonald brought out our Air Force brethren, the Joint-Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC), to control fastmovers flying overhead. The effort of the supply team to keep the Soldiers mission ready cannot be understated. CPL Roush and PFC Labarrie met the rest of the Soldiers on the LZ upon our return to Shinwar to refit them on food, water, batteries, and other mission-essential supplies. Every member of HQ Platoon contributed to the success of Operation Eagle and SSG Bizich and I couldnt be more proud!

MORTARS SSG BIZICH

RECONDO RIFLES AND PISTOLS ARE READY FOR ORDER AS OF 26 JULY.
To the High Angle Hell Family back home, the month of July has not cooled off at all and neither did I on Training . SGT Johnson has really took a big step up in his leadership role amongst the section by motivating the guys with his keen sense of humor. SPC(P) Thisius is waiting patiently to get promoted as well as performing duties well beyond the standard. SPC Wolfe enjoyed his time home on R&R and hit the ground running upon his return. PFC Ryno has not only been making great feats with the COIST but after 12 hr shifts still hits the gym and participates in Mortar Gun drills. PV2 Barlow is really gaining a lot of knowledge from his leaders and excited to learn new things about the Mortar System. PV2 Zahn has been enjoying the heat and loves to train in full battle rattle. PVT Barrick Has stepped up to the plate as an Assistant Gunner, a spot I think he is very successful at and will continue to maintain that position. Our Senior line Medic SGT Jahn is playing a crucial role in ensuring our young men have top of the line medical training to be able to deal with any situation. As for Thunder 4, between the SAMC board and my imagination running wild with my section doing 2 a day training as well as any other appointed duties that may arise. The section has been impressing me everyday. They retain knowledge that is critical in our MOS which is awesome. Im very Proud of our young Mortarmen and wouldnt trade any one of them.
