TEMPERATURE C

Plug the machine into a suitable socket and switch the machine on at the control box , the green neon indicator built into the switch will glow and the display will initially indicate test for a few seconds while it checks for problems and runs a self diagnostic. The display will indicate the actual temperature of the heater plate and the seal time This will shortly begin to rise and in the course of about a half hour should reach the operating temperature. There is an on off switch to isolate the heaters next to the heater contol. Make sure this is illuminated for sealing. To cool the machine and monitor the tool temperature switch this to the of position in advance of changing the top tool. The operating temperature is factory set at 180 deg C . To change this value please refer to the later section on adjustments and suitable temperatures for packaging. Once the operating temperature has been reached the machine can be used. Place the packaging in the bottom plate , check that it is properly seated, it is important that with attached lids the fold for the lid is at the leading edge of the pack as the tray is pushed into the machine If the tooling has 2 apertures ideally use both when sealing, one only can be used if required. ALWAYS ENSURE A LID IS PRESENT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO SEAL THE PACKS, FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL CONTAMINATE THE TOP TOOLING WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED FOR CLEANING. Slide the carriage under the heater plate using the handle provided until it stops . Using the air supply the machine will provide the pressure to lower the upper tool until it presses on the packaging and creates a seal. The controller display will show end, the tray tool can be pulled back out and the packaging removed. 5

ADJUSTMENTS AND SETTINGS

The machine is versatile and there are a number of adjustments available to improve the properties and presentation of the lid seal on the packaging. Setting Sealing Temperature High temperature materials such as cardboard seal at an optimum of between 160 to 190 deg C To change the set temperature of the control unit follow these simple procedures.

Press key P then release immediately . This will show the set point value with S P 1 flashing in red above it To change this value press arrow up key to increase the value , or arrow pointed down to decrease the set point value .These keys count one digit at a time , but if the key is held in for more than a second than a faster rate of change of the set point value occurs . Pressing the P button again will display the seal time adjust this up or down as required. Press p repeatedly to go through this sequence. Leave the unit for 20 seconds and the controller will automatically revert to the new settings . The new settings will then be displayed and set The machine is factory set to 180 degrees C with 3 seconds of sealing time This will suit most card packaging A maximum allowed temperature of 200 degrees C is set.as a limit Please note! Avoid holding the p button in for a long period or you will enter configuration mode, if this happens switch the power off and on to clear this. SEAL CHECK A correctly sealed package should show minimal package distortion or discoloration to the lid. Adjust the temperature and or seal time to rectify this HEAT SETTINGS Factory settings are based on the optimum performance for most types of standard lids and packaging .

ADJUSTMENTS AND SETTINGS

CHANGING PLATENS When changing to a different type of packaging the upper and lower plates have to be changed. Bottom tooling Release the bottom plate tooling, it can now be removed by sliding it out from the front.

MAINTENANCE -Always observe safety issues

Important Note: Always disconnect the machine from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning on the machine. Do not attempt any major repairs or alterations in this case please contact Soken.

The HS 35 can only be fully serviced / dismantled and altered by a trained appointed SEC engineer .You may make the problem worse, create a hazard and affect your guarantee. If you experience poor sealing ensure there is no build up or contamination on the sealing flange of the top tool . Check all the lower gaskets are complete and undamaged.

DAILY Clean the machine regularly and avoid any build up of food ,etc on or around the machine .Only ever use soapy water and a soft cloth on the machine. Clean the lower plate using soapy water at least once a day. Allowing food etc to build up on the plate will tend to bake to the plate and may cause contamination and damage to the top tooling.

WEEKLY MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS COLD Remove and clean the top tool. Remove any foreign material on or around the top tooling area .Avoid getting an electrical components wet. Remove the carriage and carefully clean it. Check the plastic rail guides are clean and the carriage is free to move. Check all the gaskets are clean present and are in good condition.

MONTHLY MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS COLD then remove the top plate. remove any loose baked on material on the heater plate lower surface. Do not use a knife. Clean the top tooling using mild soapy water you may need to soak the tooling for a while to soften any baked on materials. Use a non abrasive cleaner to remove any stubborn contamination Check the plastic rails for damage , wear and check the power lead at the rear for damage. Check that all visible fasteners are tight.

YEARLY (Maintenance Engineer) Remove guards and check for wear in all the moving parts. Spares are always available from Soken Engineering. Ideally the machine should be inspected ,serviced and checked for electrical safety by an approved SEC engineer once a year.
