From: Robin Sculthorpe De Colores from the Richmond, Va Emmaus Community! Melt and pour soaps Melt and pour glycerin soaps _ can buy heart shaped latex molds, glycerin melt and pour soap and fragrance or essential oils from:

http://www.brambleberry.com/kits.html also, many other websites (do search on melt and pour soap) _ very easy to make, little time and expense ( a pound of soap costs approximately 2.50 or less if you buy in very large bulk quantities and can make a lot of soaps depending on the size of the mold) If adding fragrance or essential oil, use the following verse: " . . . and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God" Ephesians 5:2 Also, can buy business card sized_soap molds from: http://www.northcountrymercantile.com/ Can print verse on business cards with a computer printer and the cards fit in the top of the soap. I buy business cards that have a rainbow preprinted on them. North Country also has very thin molds with hands folded in prayer (for just a sliver of soap). Note: some of these molds are candy molds, but they work well for soap. Or you could do chocolate_molded candies for agape as well.

From Lora with Southwest Indiana Community: REALLY cute idea I saw recently. A LEGO block glued on cardstock paper. It said LEGO and let God! Real economical for moms & dads whose kids have outgrown playing with them. Also saw something cute with puzzle pieces. Saying was something about being just a piece of His puzzle, a part of His plan, part of the Church, part of the community etc. Thanks for the great ideas! I am looking for something to go with Ps. 28:7 - The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. Another verse I'd like to use is Psalm 31:5. "Into His hands..." DeColores! Subject: Agape Shopping

AGAPE IDEAS PICKED UP FROM EMMAUS DISCUSSION LISTSERV AFTER SOMEBODY REQUESTED SOME INEXPENSIVE IDEAS OR DIRECT DISCUSSIONS WITH PERSONS FOUND THERE Also some things aren't agape items they are ideas that people had about what to do with the agape they received or the other stuff they received on their Walk. Pictures are available upon request, please email me @agapeideas@yahoo.com with your email address and your snail mail address (in case there are problems). Or if you wish to send us a blank CD-R or CD-RW we could make you a CD with all the pictures. Most pictures are in groups. * a Hershey's kiss on a small card that says "a good night kiss" and has a scripture about sleeping peacefully because God is watching over you. * a mint taped to a small card that says "God's Love is mint for you"

* a small piece of sponge (bright colored kitchen sponge cut into small pieces) taped on a card that says "Soak up God's Love" * cut cardstock into business-card size pieces with various colorful, inspirational messages or scriptures and pictures. If have computer/color inkjet printer- you can print these out easily and then use papercutter to cut cardstock. Can be laminated with the self-laminating sheets before cuttting, can get a roll of strip magnet (see your hobby store) and cut off 1/2 inch pieces and put on back of card to make a magnet card that will stick to a frig or file cabinet. * stick of gum taped to a card that says "Choose (chews) Jesus" * out of brightly colored cloth, sew small (perhaps 6x8") bags (drawstring top is nice) that are large enough to hold the purple book plus nametag plus lanyard plus small notebook - this can be used to hold everything that one takes to Reunion group or to a Gathering or to Candlelight and keep it together - then you can just grab the little bag and go and have all the Emmaus things you need at these events. * Now & Later candy taped to a card that reads" Jesus Now and Later" * buy one zigsaw puzzle - and then glue one piece of the puzzle to a card that says "Jesus is the missing piece in your life" We use Airhead candy, and write..Don't be an Airhead, listen to Jesus. We staple this candy to half a piece of bright paper. Our master paper has 2 agapes to it, so when we make 1 copy it really has 2 pieces of agape. I don't know if this is clear, but it's a quick, inexpensive way to show someone you care. We get Kool-aid the little packs, and on a piece of paper write something like "Let Jesus be the cool aid in your life." Then we have our reunion group name on it. We' ve used this idea in two women's walks now and they're very well received as well as inexpensive. You'll need: -- floral tape (1 roll covers 100+pens) -- assorted "cheap" brightly colored silk flowers with stems cut to about 3 inches -- Paper-Mate type pens (black ink looks better because the bottom 3/4" of the pen is usually black, too, and doesn't clash with the green tape) 1. Place the flower stem next to the pen with the flower/leaves as close the the top of the pen as possible. (You'll probably need to slide some of the leaves "up" the stem until they're touching the flower, first.) 2. Wrap the stem and pen together with the tape, spiraling down the pen.3. When you get to the end of the stem, roll some extra layers of tape around it so that its wire doesn't work through. (This is another

reason to be sure your stems aren't so long that they "end" where your hand would be holding it when you write.) My friend and I did over 60 in 15 minutes the other day while watching a volleyball game. ENJOY!!! My wife puts two Hershey's Hugs and the following in a sandwich bag: Why God Made Hugs Everyone was meant to share God's all-abiding love and care He saw that we would need to know A way to let these feelings show. So God made hugs -a special sign, And symbol of His love divine, A circle of our open arms To hold in love and keep out harm. One simple hug can do its part To warm and cheer

another's heart. A hug's a bit of heaven above That signifies His perfect love. Jill Wolf I print them eight to an 8-1/2 x 11 inch page and she cuts them up into the small strips. One of my favorites is a take-off on the word DeColores! I take a Crayola brand crayon, make a slip of paper w/the scripture: "For now we are all children of God... Galatians 3:26" on it and instead of DeColores underneath, I put DeCrayola! That's followed by my reunion group name and my city. This was sent to me by friends in NM after I went on my walk and I've adopted it for use around here, you're more than welcome to it if you want to use it. It's quite inexpensive, a 96 box of crayons is less than $4 around here, and I buy the assorted pastel colored paper to run off the scripture, etc, in my printer. One of the funniest (and cheapest!) was a Q-tip taped on >a >card that says: "OPEN OUR EARS, LORD" (and help ups to listen. Open our >ears, >Lord, we want to see Jesus." Another one was a brown paper lunch bag >that >had written on the front: "GOD BAG".....underneath is says 1. Create a >crisis >(if you already have one, skip step 1) 2. Write it down 3. Open bag >4. >insert crisis 5. close bag 6. Let go and let God under that is >says "WARNINGG; "the DISCIPLE GENERAL has determined that "taking things >back" is hazardous to your spiritual health. I put this one first since it is my favorite from last week-end. It was used as a place mat, but could be used as door agape (which is how I'm going to use it) or as just general agape. Now I can't DRAW this one to show it to you, so you'll have to let God help you but it is a powerful agape. It is simply a butterfly with the WINGS......get this......SANDALS. I am going to barely color the wings with highlight pens. It says" Not to be served, but to serve". 2. a plastic airplane that says: "FLY HIGH WITH GOD" 3. I drew a lamb sleeping on a bed snoring with a blanket covering him with the Walk # on the blanket. This is darling bed agape that the pilgrims loved. You attach a Hershey's kiss and write: "A KISS GOOD-NIGHT" 4. This next one is great....my daughter loved this one and it is so simple and neat. Go to the bride's section of any craft store and find the the fake little wedding rings. Attach one to a piece of paper and type: "YOU ARE A BRIDE OF CHRIST"

5. A plastic frog with this attached: F (fully) R (relying) O (on) G (God) 6. Two Hershey's kisses with an angel picture attached saying simply : "ANGEL KISSES" 7. The poem "TOO BUSY" (the "letter from God") typed on Laser RAINBOW paper (Wal-mart carries this). 8. Another one of my favorites: A piece of towel stapled to the letter about "the Order of the Towel" See below. 9. Some STARBURST and a piece of gum in a tiny baggie saying: "CHEWS" you this day whom you will serve. As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." (Josshua 2:4-15) 10.Go to someplace like Wal-mart and get the SMILEY erasers. Attach to a piece of paper and write: IF YOU SEE SOMEONE WITHOUT A SMILE, JUST GIVE HIM ONE OF YOURS 11. The poem "Jesus from A-Z".. See below. 12. The good ole prayer rock 13. The "MINT" poem....( I "MINT"......) with mint attached 14. The GOD BAG.....this is cute and cheap.....Brown paper bag with cute label on front : GOD BAG...1.Create a crisis (if you already have one , skip step 1) 2. write it down 3. open bag 4. insert crisis 5. close bag 6. let go and let God .....WARNING: The DISCIPLE GENERAL has determined that "taking things back" is hazardous to your SPIRITUAL health , to take those little plastic fish ( we have some cheap at the local christian store ) and write "Be fishers of men." We do a similar thing with giant brass fishooks that have been bent so they can be clipped on a hat brim or lapel. Other things that we have done is use the little packs of Skittles candy with a sticker that says "Taste the rainbow of God's love" Also (more for the guys) we've spray painted nuts (the hardware kind, not the kind you eat) in rainbow colors and put them onto a key chain with a card that says "NUTTIN' but love" All three have gone over real well in our community. -- JESUS FROM "A" TO "Z" A--Abiding Vine-John 15:4 B--Bridgroom--Ephesians 5:32 C--Creator--Colossians 1:16 D--Deity--John 10:30

ORDER OF THE TOWEL (write our John 13:2-5)

He took a towel. HE did that! God incarnate took a towel and performed the task invariably assigned to some slave. And that, EVEN THAT, was not the final depth of humility to which He stooped. For, bearing our sin and atoning for our guilt, the Man with a towel became the Man on the tree in a self-humbling which baffles our comprehension. Take this small piece of towel and put it in your wallet or billfold. Carry it with you everywhere. Look at it daily for the first few weeks after you voluntarily join the highest and noblest of all fraternities, the ORDER OF THE TOWEL. Do that, if you are able to do it sincerely. Let the towel motivate you to follow the example of our God who humbled Himself not only to wash the feet of His disciples but to wash away our sin with His own blood on the cross. (this from a reunion group in Bakersfield, Calif) Prayer Rock I'm your little prayer rock And this is what I'll do Just put me on your pillow Till the day is through. Then turn back the covers And climb into bed, And WHACK, your little prayer rock WIll hit you on the head! Then you will remember As the day is through To kneel and say your prayers As you wanted all the day to do. Then when you are finished Just dump me on the floor! I'll stay there thro the night-time To give you help once more. When you get up the next morning CLUNK! I'll stub your toe

So you will remember Your morning prayers before you go. Put me back upon your pillow when your bed is made, And your clever little prayer rock Will continue in your aid. Because your heavenly Father Cares and loves you so, He wants you uto remember To talk to Him, you know. someone had posted the a-z Jesus poem (which I loved) and i think we are going to use it in a bag of Alphabits cereal :) I just got this poem today and thought these might be good agape ideas... maybe with a little of product mentioned or a copy of their symbol on a card with the saying? Just an idea :) What God is just a little like God is a little like General Electric He lights your path God is a little like Bayer Aspirin He works wonders. God is a little like Hallmark Cards He cared enough to send the very best. God is a little like Tide He gets out the stains that others leave behind. God is a little like VO-5 Hair Spray He holds through all kinds of weather. God is a little like Dial Soap

Aren't you glad you know Him? Don't you wish everyone did? God is a little like Sears He has everything. God is a little like Alka Seltzer Oh, what a relief He is! God is a little like Scotch Tape You can't see Him but you know He's there! God is a little like The Copper Top Battery Nothing can outlast him. God is a little like American Express Don't leave home without Him! MAY GOD BE WITH YOU !!! I just love all these ideas! We all can remember how much the agape = meant to us on our walks. Here's an idea that I shared with the = pilgrims on the last walk that I worked on: What do we do with all that agape? I bought a 30 inch grapevine wreath = & hot-glued it all on. It is the first thing that I see in the morning = which is a good thing being as I'm NOT a morning person. It's just a = constant reminder of my walk. DeColores! wreath idea cool!! What I did was got a large 3 ring binder with a see thru cover ---put the group photo and table photo onside --then got those cleare plastic sheet protectors and placed each letter that i recieved and even the prayer letter & conformation letter I recieved before my walk... then I took the all the agape and taped into these sheet protectors -taped them to the plastic so you can see front and back --was going to put them on colored paper but decided that wouldn't work coz some of the things were signed on the backs anyway it holds everything nicely and on those down days I can grab my note book and relive those first days!!! also keep my purple book and name tag inthere so I don't loose them!!!LOL The Savior's Words

If you never felt pain, Then how would you know that I'm a Healer? If you never went through difficulty, How would you know that I'm a Deliverer? If you never had a trial, How could you call yourself an overcomer? If you never felt sadness, How would you know that I'm a Comforter? If you never made a mistake, How would you know that I'm Forgiving? If you knew all, How would you know that I will answer your questions? If you never were in trouble, How would you know that I will come to your rescue? If you never were broken, Then how would you know that I can make you whole? If you never had a problem, How would you know that I can solve them? If you never had suffering, Then how would you know what I went through? If you never went through the fire, Then how can you become pure? If I gave you all things, How would you appreciate them? If I never corrected you,

How would you know that I love you? If you had all power, Then how would you learn to depend on me? If your life was perfect, Then what would you need Me for?

cut a piece of seam binding tape, affix to card..."bind" us together in love affix a drinking straw to card..John 4:14, "whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst" got this one from an emmaus friend in texas....psalm 51:10 "create in me a pure (clean) heart, o God" stapled to the individually packaged wash 'n dry towelettes glue a penny to a card.....Do not store up for yourself treasures on earth... Matthew 6:19a **** Key chains are good for men. Also, I've seen this done: On a 3x5 card, or whatever you decide on, use duct-tape to tape a nail to the card. The caption reads "Men use duct-tape to fix everything, God used nails." Another thing that's good for men or women is: Dove Promises chocolate candy with the caption "God's promises are true." 1. Goldfish crackers in a snack-size ziploc bag with the verse about being "fishers of men". 2. A large fish hook on a piece of paper with the same verse. 3. A bottle of water with the verse about Jesus being the "water of life". 4. A small piece of brightly colored sponge taped on a card that says "Soak Up God's Love" 5. A piece of a jigsaw puzzle taped to a card that says "Jesus is the missing piece in your life" Here's a few "quick and easy" and inexpensive ideas: Ear Plugs (because not all noises are joyful.) These are a standard in our community. A battery with note that says "Let Jesus be your energizer." The 3Amigos happened upon a great deal on sewing kits (hotel size). We put on a note that says "Be

prepared to Get Repaired." I was surprised at how much the guys like these. We've done fans - not hard - get paper with a rainbow on it and print "Join the Jesus Fan Club" on it. Cut heart shape out of paper and put a small horizontal slit at the top and the bottom of heart. Slide this onto a pencil. Very cute. A book of matches with a note or sticker that says "you are the light of the world." There is a company - Oriental Trading Company that sells a wide variety of stuff fairly cheap. Their web site is TeacherCentral.Com. or call 1-800-246-8400 for a catalog. We've considered yo-yos because God is there through all our ups and downs. I have an idea-it may be corny- get a piece of candy that is chewy-like Star Bursts or carmel-Use the Bible verse in Joshua 24 where Joshua tells the Hebrews as for me and my family we will choose God for whom we serve-put on the paper with the candy attached and say "Chews God." Another idea, get colored tootpicks- PICK Jesus; and put it on a piece of paper. Get a package of Life Savers that are individually wrapped and say Jesus is the true Lifesaver. They are simple and very easy to do. The idea of Oriental Trading is good also. My reunion group uses them quite frequently. One agape gift I received on a walk was a bookmark made on a computer with great graphics and scripture and laminated. I use it every day. Another one was wallpaper with hand done calligraphy and then laminated. It had the walk # and the scripture on it and helps for pilgrim's to remember the walk # and dates later on. a Band-Aid on a card printed with "Jesus binds up the broken-hearted." Cards printed with graphics that say "Someone prayed for you today!" I like to put these on the beds Friday night because they have been told about the prayer vigil, etc. the "Jesus Loves You" bracelets from Oriental Trading on a card with the bracelet on the top and underneath the words "this I know for the Bible told me so." small bottles of water with appropriate verses about the "river of life" etc. packets of Alka-Selzter with a card that reads "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, Oh what a relief HE is." Andes chocolate mints with cards that say "Emmaus is a mountaintop experience."

Cards that say, "Knowing and Loving Jesus just makes " ". (with a bright, shiny new penny stuck in the space with double-stick tape.) just makes "cents", get it? haha Go to a craft store and buy a roll if magnetic tape, the necessary number of one-inch round wooden diccs (flat), and rainbow, sun(son)flower, or other appropriate stickers. Put a small piece of magnet on one side of the disc and the magnet on the other and presto, it's a fridge magnet. Or you could even glue a sunflower seed to the disc and attach a card with the parable of the seeds. Personally, I like the Oriental Trading Post idea, but this is less expensive and hand made. I printed out business cards that said "Let... the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God... sharpen your life." Ephesians 6:17 and attached a plastic cocktail sword. I also used business cards and printed out one that said "Coupon Good for one free hug from God whenever you need it. Keep this in your wallet and read daily!" Our community seems to love to make music (noise) during their walks - I shop at the discount party stores and pick up flutes, clappers, or any other instrument and print out labels that say "Make a joyful noise!" or "Praise the Lord with music!" I got a compass that says "If you need direction in life, 'come pass' the time with Jesus!" Also, little rolls of paper with cute stories or good poems and such works well. Some of my favorite agape were a few strands of colored ribbon tied together for a bookmark. They have a butterfly bead at the top. I also got a plastic spoon that says "Dig into Jesus." One more thing: I got a peice of paper with a rock on it and a tootsie roll pop. "Rock and roll with Jesus." I just thought that was cute. I have tons more if you need more ideas. A nail taped to a card which reads "Men fix everything with duct tape. God used nails." Alka Seltzer taped to a card with reads "Plop, plop, Fizz, fizz. Oh what a relief Jesus is." Small bars of soap with label that says "To get really clean, Choose Jesus.' Small maps (you can make one up) folded with the words "For real directions, Go to God!" on the outside of the map. Small toy compasses with a card taht says "God will show you the right directon." Yo-yos with a tag or label that says "God will see you through all life's ups and downs." > More projects include-a rock that is big enough to write on it and say Jesus > is the Rock with a

rainbow painted on it; a Tootsie Roll or a Starburst > candy and refer to the scripture Joshua 24 where Joshua said As for me and > my household we choose God- put the candy on the back of the paper and say > "Chews God!",pens or pencils with WWJD, a Colored toothpick on a sheet of > paper and say PICK JESUS, a band-aid on a sheet of paper and say Jesus heals > our boo-boos. Subject: Re: first talk visuals From: "Tommy & Leslie Cohen" Christine, I just completed my 3rd teaming experience and gave my 1st weekend talk = (Christian Action). This is a talk that you can do alot with visuals. = I think that pilgrims often get tired of poster after poster. So, I = took an actual cross in a stand as my visual. I used the white drape = for the "ressurection" focus, and led my talk in the direction of "take = up your cross". I also made agape to be handed out during the talk. I = bought small masonry nails, hotglued them into a cross, tied white = ribbon around the center to secure it, and glued a pin attachment to the = back. During the talk, I had each person hold the cross in the palm of = their hand and close their eyes. I had them focus on all that Christ = had done for us and that we could do no less than to follow His example. = The group found it VERY effective and I truly received God's spirit and = blessing through this specific idea. It is also a great follow up to = the concept of dying moments, since it is the first talk that follows = that ceremony. May God's peace be with you as you prepare for this = important calling. What you are making will be passed on to the Agape Board Chairs and Reunion Group Coordinator. 1. 4" heart doily (see craft supply info S & S catalog). Glue two together on sides with glue gun. Leave top open. Print out on computer and cut out "create in me a clean heart, renew a right spirit within me" verse and glue with rubber cement to front. First time saw these done person had a small hotel type soap in them and doesn't seem like it had verse on it we just knew it was "clean heart." When we tried it, some of the soap was too heavy. So came up with idea of using a small piece of red terry cloth. First time bought cheap washclothes and Rit dyed them Scarlet.Lesson learned cut the washclothes AFTER you dye them, not before or they get all raveled and tangled together but we untangled and used them. For next time, went to fabric store and bought red terry cloth. Also got some leads that about companies that make hotel soap and plan to see if can get some really small lightweight soaps from them .... Thought this was especially nice to use for pillow agape. Have sample can scan.

2. Chicken cup yellow solo cup with stuff to make it look like rooster, string from top, piece of sponge on bottom so can grab string and pull and make it "cluck."Have sample.

3. Small piece of paper or cardstock Mustard seed verse: Matthew 17:20 Glue mustard seed on. This is a great inexpensive, quick one to do LOTS of mustard seeds in bottle you buy!

4. Prayer rock with prayer rock saying. Request by email if need the saying. Have sample. 5. Masonry (squarish type of nail) about 1 1/2" long Spray paint it gold Glue a pin back to the back of the nail with glue gun Pin this pin you've made onto a piece of paper

that has "FORGIVEN" written at the top and Psalm 103:3 at the bottom. Have sample.

6. God bag. Brown lunch bag. Fold over at top and hole punch one hole. Tie curly type ribbon through

and tie in regular bow (not curled). Glue "God Bag" saying on the front. Dayspring has a longer one

than some other God bag sayings have seen. Email if need longer God Bag saying. Have sample.

7. Fanfold ribbon or paper angel. Lace ribbon too expensive when making 65

so have tried regular

typing paper cut with the decorative type scissors that have recently come in the stores with all the

scrapbook stuff, etc. Email if you want more exact directions. This takes some time

you have to fan

fold 12" strip and two 6" strips and then put them together with wire wound around. And make halo out

of gold metallic pipe cleaners with stem that goes through round head bead with face (order head beads

with faces from Craft King) and stem is stuck down in the pleats so that it is together with the rest

of it when wire is wound around. Then tie a small red bow out of 1/8" ribbon and glue on front. This

kind of hides the wire. Also bought a bow shaped hole punch and punched out some red paper bows

thinking that would be less expensive than ribbon. Have sample.

8. Hat hooks (or tie clasps). A lot of people, esp. people that fish wear them on the bill or the side

of their baseball type hats. They could also be used as a tie clasp. These are the big gold hooks that

are specially made for that purpose. Make poster board or card stock fish shapes and cut out. Write

"fishers of men" complete verse Matthew 4:19 at the tail end - have tail end up and start writing down

toward the middle of the fish.. Write, curved so that it will look like the gill, at the other end:

"Hat/Tie Clasp." Hooks are made by Eagle Claw. Have scanned in so can send picture if you wish. Am

using scanned fishes (3 to a page) and printing out on heavy paper now instead of cutting out of

poster paper. Have sample.

9. Clam shell angel. Glue hole stopper (found at building supply store

Lowes, etc.) on top and draw

face on. Put store bought wings on back. (Have also seen ones made with a bow glued on back). Put

hanging string or ribbon on to hang.

Variation: Glue head bead on. Put halo on. Make arms with thin 1/8" ribbon - glue on one side, slip

medium faceted bead on (so it will hang in middle) and then glue to other side. This one had woodsie

heart wings. Ribbon and faceted bead same size. Have sample.

10. "Bloom Where You Are Planted". Tiny flower pot with silk or dried flowers; Variation: saw flower shaped pasta at a craft supply store and thought about making a card with that

saying and pasting the flower shaped pasta on. When searching on net for pasta one time found a store

from which one can order all shapes of pasta. To find

search the internet by looking for pasta or

pasta shapes.

11. Large vinyl coated and therefore colored paper clip. Tie a short piece of rainbow ribbon to one

end. Attach paper clip to a card with this saying: (Have sample.) "This rainbow clip you see Will help you immensely, If you clip pages 26 - 34 You'll flip with ease When the leader says turn In your Emmaus book, please."

12. Masonry (squarish type) nail. Dip pointed end about 1/2" in red paint. Tie red yarn on top so can

be worn as necklace. (Or I have on rear view mirror in car

only it worries me there sometime because

the nail hits the windshield if road is particularly rough.) Dayspring gives this out and a paper agape that has Jesus foot on cross with blood dripping out

these are the only two things given out after Dying Moments. Have sample.

13. Care Kit

there are several versions

some longer than others. (Care kit is things in baggie

with saying explaining what the cotton ball stands for, the toothpick, the bandaid, etc.) Email me if

you want more detail or saying(s). Have sample of some.

14. Rose of Sharon ring. Small red silk rose ( about 1/2" or less in diameter). Cut hand out of

construction paper and write saying(s) on labels or put saying(s) on hand drawn on white copy paper

and copied on copier. Have sample. Saying: Wear your Rose of Sharon ring. When did for Chrysalis, added some lines from a song called Rose of Sharon with identifying info. Take stem of rose and wind it around a finger so that it can be slipped on and off like a ring. Make

ring big enough that person can take off the paper and put it on their finger.

15. Bandaid. Type on labels and stick them on: "I am the Lord that healeth you. Exodus 15:26" (have sample.)

16. Earrings made with perler beads

with long wire that has loop at one end. You use pliers to turn

up other end after you get beads on, I believe. And then hang the other end that came already looped

onto an ear wire to make earrings. Also, someone found some screw or clip type earrings at craft store

that had a part that one could put that loop on and then take tweezers and close up that ring

so one

could make non-pierced earrings that would look very similar to the pierced ones. My thought is could

give out pierced earrings

but then have an ALD or someone announce after everybody has seen that

piece of agape

that for those of you who don't have pierced ears

hold up your hand or see us later

or something like that

"we have some earrings for non-pierced ears and you can exchanged the

pierced ear ones for the non- pierced ones." Have sample.

17. Poster paper or manila file folder key shape cut out. Write or put typed label on: "Open your heart to God." Have sample.

18. Candy cane and legend of candy cane

talks about the cane and the stripes and what they

represent. Email me if you need the saying. Put saying on red paper, tie to candy cane with white

curly ribbon. Have sample.

19. Cross made from 1/8" (also designated as 3 mm sometimes) satin ribbon and plastic canvas. Plastic

canvas is cut a certain way so that ribbon is criss-crossed when it is put on

it is not just

straight up and down and back and forth. Have sample.

Saying attached: Take up your cross and follow me and whatever book and verse that quote comes from.

20. Poster cut out of tennis shoe; tie yarn as shoestring. Can tie yarn on all cutouts

or cut out

one and put yarn shoestring in and then copy a bunch

so will have xeroxed shoestring.

Write on it --or type and glue on original before copying the Paul's verse about striving for what is

ahead .... Have sample.

21. Poster paper cut out of tennis shoe

see details above. But instead of that saying, make

friendship pins and pin the pin on the xeroxed shoestring. For friendship pins use safety pin or

special craft safety pins that don't have the loop at the other end. Use two seed beads (very tiny

didn't realize what was ordering when I ordered--seed beads are about the size of tiny tiny ice cream

sprinkles, or lead pencil end, etc. ) or "E" beads (which I should have ordered)

one "E" bead of

each rainbow color on pin (haven't determined safety pin size yet. Decided to put pins on drawn and

xeroxed tennis shoe so they would know that's where we had in mind for the pin to be worn. Has saying

on the tennis shoe about this friendship pin

wear it on your shoe and let the colors remind you of

Chrysalis and friends made there

something to that effect. Email me for more specific saying. Have

already scanned in shoe so can print on the computer

that way the shoestrings are colored and not

black. So can send scan - 3 shoes to a page.

22. Decorative ribbon that has hammer, saw, screwdriver, wrench printed on it. Cut piece about 6"

long. Have sample. Attach to saying: "Let this bookmark remind you that God has given you the perfect tools for living. THE HOLY SPIRIT, PRAYER, AND THE WORD

23. Pretzel

put magnet piece on back. Tie to card or paper with history of pretzel. Email and ask me

for saying. Relates to 1 Thessolonians 5:1 and some of saying is: "arms folded in prayer

pretzel

means "little arms". Eating pretzels reminds us Christians to pray. The three sections formed by the

crossed arms represent the Trinity: God as creator, God through Jesus, and God the Holy Spirit. Use

this magnet pretzel to remind you daily to pray without ceasing. This is not the whole saying though

just little parts of it. Have sample.

24. Make a fan

(smaller version of old square funeral home or church type fans

sample I have is

about 3 x 4" I think (I didn't measure

just guesstimated). Draw and color rainbow across mid top.

Glue popsicle stick on as a handle. Below the rainbow, write: "Fan into flame the gift of God. 2 Timothy 1:6. Have sample.

25. Poster board cut out of megaphone. "Shout the good news." Have sample.

26. Seed packets. Attach to paper that has 1 Corinthians 15: 35-43. Have seen this done with different

colors of zinnia seeds for the women and gourds for the men, but any seed packets would do. Person

doing this used to order the seed packets, but the company has gone up on the minimum order of packets

that must be ordered. Suggested she contact seed places or stores and see if they would give her the

old outdated unsold seed packets at the end of the season. If anybody can figure out how to get seed

packets inexpensively and not in such high volume, please email me and I'll pass info on to her. Have

sample. 27. Ice cream sample spoon (like the tiny pink ones you get from Baskin Robbins). Sample we have has a

ribbon tied on the handle and spoon is glued to a card. On it is written: "Chrysalis a taste of Heaven. O taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8." Have sample.

28. Plastic regular size spoon. Put some candy or kisses in red netting and tie over . Write and

attach paper: "O taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8."

29. Put some candy in a square of red netting. Roll up and tie with ribbon on each end. Use same verse

as in 28.

30. Cloth circle angel. Cut cloth circles out

use pinking shears so won't ravel. Fold circle in

half. Then fold each side toward the middle so that you end up with a triangle with point at the top

and large side of triangle is curved because of it being a circle. Over lap the sides a little so that

you can glue them together so the cloth stays in triangle. Glue wooden hole stopper (found at building

supply places

near where dowels are, I think) on end where point is. Have face already drawnon with

permanent marker. Red mouth, black or blue eyes. Cut a rectangle of muslin about 1" x 3". Twist in

middle and glue to back of angel for wings. Then glue curly doll hair on. You can buy curly doll hair

that is in a continuous ringlet about the diameter of a pencil and you just cut off several lengths.

On this angel you just glue hair to the sides of the head so that it looks good from the front. Don't

need to worry about having hair on back of head. Put self-adhesive magnet piece on back (you can buy it in 1/2" width strip rolled into a roll and just

cut off whatever length of magnet you need). Also put a safety pin on back so pilgrims can where it as

a pin on the walk. Attach paper with verse if so desire: "He will command his angels concerning thee. Psalm 91:11. Have sample.

31. Fruits of the spirit. Put "Runts" ( think that is what they are called) colored fruit shaped candy

in a snack baggie or smaller ziploc baggie like you put jewelry in. ( have seen these jewelry baggies

sold in some of the craft supply catalogs.) Put in baggie or attach verse (to the snack baggie): "But the fruit .... law. Galatians 5:22-23. ( didn't write out whole verse here cause it is kinda

long). Variation: With jewelry baggie just put a label on that says "Fruits of the Spirit."

32. Fire ball. Individually wrapped. Type a label and stick it to it that says: "Get fired up' for

Jesus.

33. Letter opener for agape letters from friends and family. Get plastic knife (white or beige). Write

DECOLORES on handle with different colored Sharpie PERMANENT pens. Must be permanent ink or it will

rub off. Tie curly ribbon bow in middle. Don't have to curl. Tape to front of bag that letters go in

so they can find it easily and know what it is for. (Dayspring puts agape letters in a white lunch bag on which we have colored a rainbow in the left

bottom corner and then written their names at the top. (Each table has a separate color

helps in

distributing bags to right table at distribution time.) Have sample.

34. Salt and light. Put salt in a piece of clear plastic wrap and bundle it up and tie top with

string. (This packet of salt should be about size of fire ball or round bubble gum." Attach slip of

paper with "You are the Salt. You are the Light." Salt is Matthew 5:13; Light is Matthew 5:14. Have sample.

35. Cut lips out of pink construction paper. Glue a Hershey's kiss on one side

but not too close to

side. Write on lips: "A Holy Kiss Goodnight" or "A Goodnight Kiss." We've used that as pillow agape

too

seems best suited for that. Have sample.

36. Plastic communion cup (have also seen them called putter cups). Put black jelly bean in bottom;

cut a piece (about 1/2") red Twizzler and put on top of jelly bean. Cover with plastic wrap and tie

with ribbon. Tie slip of paper to it that says: " This cup is the new testament in my blood which is

shed for you. Luke 22:20' Christ's blood covers our sins." Have sample.

37. White washcloth. Write with T-shirt type craft paint like puffy paint, etc. "Create in me a clean

heart" or draw heart instead of using the word "heart." Have sample. Can find large packages of 18 or so washcloths for not too much $5 or so/packet.

38. Plastic Easter egg. Put macaroni in. TAPE CLOSED. Stick label on

this can help keep in closed

too. On label have typed: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. And where that is in Bible. Note: Think

ahead and get enough eggs around Easter to last for all walks during the year.

39. Power band bracelet with explanation of the different colors of the beads. Email me if you need

the explanation. Someone said when they were given theirs they were told

"this is to take the place

of the watch they took away." Have sample.

40. Slip of paper on which you have printed in large letters

but leave some space at one end

probably left end. Glue individually wrapped life saver on that end. Words on paper: "Jesus is your

Life Saver."

41. Index card. Glue bear eraser (from Oriental Trading Company) on. Write: "Jesus loves you Beary

much!" Have sample.

42. Index card. Glue heart eraser on. Below it glue saying done on computer with border: "Nothing can erase God's grace." Have sample.

43. Index card. Glue frog eraser on. Write: F.R.O.G. Fully Rely on God.Variation. Write that on side

of a pencil and put frog on

legs are made so that frog will fit on pencil.

44. Index card. Glue apple eraser on. Put verse or saying about apple of eye (in Deuteronomy).

45. Unsharpened pencil. Tape, near unsharpened end, slip of paper that has written on it: "Without Jesus, life is pointless."

46. Piece of rainbow colored ribbon about 1/2" wide, long enough to make a loop that would fit around

your index finger and then tie a knot. (Like a reminder string knot for your finger). Attach slip of

paper: "Knot to worry." Have sample.

47. Rainbow seeds. Put ice cream or cake sprinkles (tiny, tiny, tiny little balls of different colors

that you find in a container in cake decorating area or ice cream sprinkles area of store). Put some

in a small jewerly ziploc baggie. Attach saying (email me for complete saying): When to Plant Where to Plant How to Plant Harvest 48. Pepperidge Farm fish crackers. Put some in a snack ziploc baggie. Put slip of paper in baggie on

which you have typed: "Follow me, and I will make you become Fishers of Men.' Mark 1:17" (Or could

use verse in Matthew

we just wanted different verse than used with hat hooks.) Saw another version

of this where person had had some fish shaped note paper and they wrote the verse on that.

49. Macaroni in a snack baggie. Label stuck to baggie: "For nothing is "im - pasta' - ble" with God.

Luke 1:37".

50. Ribbon bookmark. Have samples. Length of 1/8" (also designated sometimes as 3mm) satin ribbon.

Length should be little longer than bookmark or book length

we don't really measure except against

previous bookmark made. Need a little longer because you will take up some of the length tying knots.

Get one length of each rainbow color: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple

or as many as you can

find. Stock up on orange at Halloween; on red and green at Christmas. Really hard to find royal or

dark blue, so use dusty blue. Yellow can be a challenge to find too. Can usually find rolls of ribbon

at WalMart or JoAnne's Fabrics

10 yds on roll for 44 cents or 50 cents or so. Usually takes four

rolls of each color to make 65 or 75 bookmarks. Slide pony bead on (see below for bead description); tie a knot using all strands so knot is about 1"

front top; slide bead up against top knot; then tie another knot below bead to keep it in place.

For Chrysalis: Use colored butterfly shaped pony beads. (Can get in packs of 144 inexpensively

from

Craft King catalog. (They have all kinds of neat shaped pony beads

have some that are angel shaped,

etc.) Usually cull out the beige and black butterfly beads and haven't come up with a use for them.

For Emmaus: Use colored heart shaped pony beads. They come in just different colors, or you can get

some with glitter in them, etc., etc.

Variation: Use all white heart shaped pony beads. Cut two lengths of red 1/4" ribbon (ribbon a little

wider than above 1/8". Or don't have to cut

just have a long length and fold ribbon in half so it is

bookmark length. Tie knot 1" from top; put on bead, tie knot underneath. Can write or type Clean heart

verse on paper or card and punch a hole or two through it and thread bookmark through or somehow

otherwise attach paper with verse to bookmark. At least two strands work best for this. If only use one strand of ribbon the knot isn't quite big

enough to hold the bead on as well as you would like. It'll stay on with just one strand knotted, but

could come off really easily. Have also seen this done with burgundy ribbon.

51. Beads, different colors

round faceted kind put on pipe cleaner. Shape bead part into body of

fish shape and twist

leave about 1" on each end out and make into V shape for tail. Glue pin back on

back. 52. Put several Starbursts (different colors) into a snack baggie. Stick label on: "God can satisfy

any craving."

53. Pasta angel (email me for directions

directions are long, but these are REALLY pretty - but can

be fragile. Have seen them shellaced and that made them MUCH less fragile, but we haven't experimented

with what kind of shellac yet.) Have sample. Made from bow tie macaroni for wings and skirt, macaroni for arms, egg pastina 150 (teensy, teensy,

tinsey stars) for hair, wooden round bead (no face already on

will put on later) for head, paint all

that with white acrylic paint, add silk flower between "hands", wedding ring for halo. This is girl

version. There is also a boy version with body made from rigatoni (tube shaped pasta).

54. Piece of yarn tied into a knot. Have a small finger size loop about 1/2" above knot. Glue to card

or paper. Below the knot separate the strands of yarn. Up top

on either side of the loop

glue

Use computer and format, paragraph, border/fill

above. Leave some space between the two. Use butterfly hole punch and punch out butterflys out of

royal blue or similar color paper. Fold the butterflies a little so when glue on card to left between

the two verses the wings will stick up off the paper. Bottom right hand corner

use heart corner

punch that has lots of small hearts that punch the two corner sides. Print, do heart corner punch outs, glue paper to a square of red poster paper (so will have red hearts

because red shows thru heart punch outs), glue butterfly on. Then at bottom underneath the two

verses, maye a little to the left since have heart punch outs on left

dif. colors in a small jar like small baby food jar or

prescription bottle. Glue on saying that tells what the different colors stand for. (Email me for

saying.)

67. Craft stick angel - have sample. Email me for more detailed directions if needed. Had seen craft

sticks at the $1 store and they were in a package of all different colors

had each color of rainbow.

(Subsequent packages I only have found 5 colors --- it works out better trying to position 5 sticks (3

on bottom

red, yellow and blue, 2 on top in between - yellow and green so have rainbow colors in

right order). Anyway, saw the rainbow colored sticks and thought be

there MUST be something that can

made with those rainbow colored sticks

then later found angel idea. Spray paint (craft or Krylon

spray paint

regular enamel spray paint seems to be too watery) natural colored craft sticks. Use 3

per wing

put 2 in an x and then 3rd one straight across. Then glue colored sticks on top of that as

indicated above

don't put them too high or will mess up positioning of head. Then hot glue head

(wood head beads with face already on

see Craft King catalog. 16 mm size wood head bead) on. Glue

large woodsie heart (3 sizes come per package) on chest. Have small ringlet (pencil diameter ringlet)

pieces and twine 3 or 4 pieces together (or roll around between your palms.) Put glue all over back

and size and bangs area of head and put hair on. Add hair where needed to cover up bald spots and

until it looks good. When dry, have length of silver necklace thread

put through Wilton wedding ring

(halo) and glue to top of head. Have to use a lot

big glob of glue

but it looks ok. Last time we

made we had the string a litle long and slipped it between the wing sticks on the back and then

brought it up the back. Have to glue the string all the way up to about midway up crown of head so

that it will hang right

so the angel won't be bowing foward. These look really pretty with the

colored sticks. Tried just making some natural unpainted ones and an all white one

they aren't

nearly as pretty as the rainbow ones. Can find the natural craft sticks at the dollar store too

and

found some at Big Lots.

___ 109. Twisted paper angel. Take a length of twisted paper about 15" long and unwind it to that you

have it "flat." Fold it in half lengthwise so you have about a 7" long body. Crimp into a small piece

at top that will fit in the hole of head bead. Put hot glue in the hole in a 3/4 or 1" head bead that

has hole at bottom but not at top. (Although holes at both ends would be OK end

going to cover other

with hair). Stick the crimped end of the paper up into the hole in the bead. Let dry. Take another

length of twisted paper about 5 " long. Leave it twisted at the ends (hands) but undo it about to

3/4" inches in the middle. This is the arms and hands. Hold up the top piece of the body and glue the

arms in the middle of the two body pieces. Take another piece of twisted paper about 7" long and

untwist it all the way until it is "flat." Holding each end with a hand, twist it in the middle so you

have wings. Glue that onto back of body. Take a piece of 1/8" skinny satin ribbon (red) and fold it in

half and glue to back of head for hanger. Take curly hair (small ringlets)

110. Pencil cups made from bamboo about 1 1/2" in diameter. Bottom was cut about 1/2" below the joint

so that it had a self-made bamboo bottom. Bottom and top edges sanded so they are not rough or sharp

7 to a

page. I.e., have it ready to go!): Scan ruler into computer (use wood ruler with very little original

wording on it). Copy so have as many as can get on page and so that ruler is right size, i.e., 7 " on

the paper = real 7". Consider scanning as much of 12" ruler as can and then cutting it at 7". If words

are typed in 14 pt. Tohoma font that will leave about one inch on each side of the words. (Used 7"

because 7 is God's complete number.) Can go into WP and put words on the ruler.

with skinny ribbon that coordinates with washcloth color. This is head. Scrunch up two more parts of

folds (using all folds) one on each side for arms

tie ribbon around and across in front and tie so

that it makes arms and body. Use rubber bands to hold first and then cover them with the ribbon. Use

AGAPE GIFTS

Agape Love We have all had moments when we stood in absolute awe at God s creation. Like the sun rising over the

sea, the majestic mountains, a waterfall, a rainbow

to name but a few. Take a moment and think of

some of the times when God s creation left you in awe and wonder at His Greatness.

These are His gifts for us in every day and yet they are nothing compared to the agape love He has for

us. To begin to define Agape Love , one could only say real Love beyond what we can comprehend, love

so unconditional, expecting no response and nothing in return.

It was Agape Love that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. God loves you so

much in spite of our sin and failures unconditional love.

The agape gifts that you make are an act of unconditional sacrificial agape love the purpose to

remind the pilgrims of Gods love for them

As we begin to prepare for the next set of Walks (and Flights/Journey), please take time now to listen

to the prompting of the Holy Spirit Christ is Counting on You.

Thank you for all the acts of agape in the past many of them I know might have gone unnoticed, but

our Lord knows thank you.

Prayer Agape Often when Jesus spoke in parables he would start with the words listen . . Now that you are

listening this is the most important agape gift

interceding in prayer for the walks and other

communities around the world. Come beautiful people, lets begin to be a praying community. The prayer

Question: "What is agape love?"

Answer: The Greek word agape is often translated "love" in the New Testament. How is "agape love"

different from other types of love? The essence of agape love is self-sacrifice. Unlike our English

word love, agape is not used in the Bible to refer to romantic or sexual love. Nor does it refer to

close friendship or brotherly love, for which the Greek word philia is used. Nor does agape mean

charity, a term which the King James translators carried over from the Latin. Agape love is unique and

is distinguished by its nature and character.

Agape is love which is of and from God, whose very nature is love itself. The Apostle John affirms

this in 1 John 4:8: God is love. God does not merely love; He is love itself. Everything God does

flows from His love. But it is important to remember that God s love is not a sappy, sentimental love

such as we often hear portrayed. God loves because that is His nature and the expression of His being.

He loves the unlovable and the unlovely (us!), not because we deserve to be loved, but because it is

His nature to do so, and He must be true to His nature and character. God s love is displayed most

clearly at the Cross, where Christ died for the unworthy creatures who were dead in trespasses and

sins (Ephesians 2:1), not because we did anything to deserve it, but God commends His love toward us

in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). The object of agape love never

does anything to merit His love. We are the undeserving recipients upon whom He lavishes that love.

His love was demonstrated when He sent His Son into the world to seek and save that which was lost

(Luke 19:10), and to provide eternal life to those He sought and saved. He paid the ultimate sacrifice

for those He loves.

In the same way, we are to love others sacrificially. Jesus gave the parable of the Good Samaritan as

an example of sacrifice for the sake of others, even for those who may care nothing at all for us, or

even hate us, as the Jews did the Samaritans. Sacrificial love is not based on a feeling, but a

determined act of the will, a joyful resolve to put the welfare of others above our own. But this type

of love does not come naturally to humans. Because of our fallen nature, we are incapable of producing

such a love. If we are to love as God loves, that love that agape can only come from its true Source.

This is the love which has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit given to us when we

became His children (Romans 5:5). Because that love is now in our hearts, we can obey Jesus who said,

I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love

one another (John 13:34). This new commandment involves loving one another as He loved us

sacrificially, even to the point of death. But again, it is clear that only God can generate within us

the kind of self-sacrificing love which is the proof that we are His children. By this we have known

the love of God, because He laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the

brothers (1 John 3:16). Because of God s love toward us, we are now able to love one another.
