================================================================== Hard Drive Space ================================================================== In addition to the installed game, Windows will require additional free hard drive space for its operating system (virtual memory). The amount of space required varies from 100 MB to 250 MB. If you have less than 250 MB free space you may encounter the following message in an error dialog: "Ran out of virtual memory" If you encounter this message, please free up some hard drive space. ================================================================== Troubleshooting ================================================================== DirectX:

DirectX 8.0a is supplied on the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets CD for y our convenience. You can download and install the latest version of DirectX from : http://www.microsoft.com/directx/homeuser/downloads/default.asp If you do not have access to DirectX compatible video card you will need to run the game through the 3d Setup option on the start bar & select `soft ware'. Video Card Drivers: Some video card drivers do not support Direct3D correctly. Typical problems that may occur with these drivers include: Crashing on starting up Crashing when changing video resolutions Corrupted textures Unexpected bright flashing on screen Unusually slow performance.

The solution is to go to your video card manufacturer's website and download updated drivers for your card. It is highly recommended that, given an option, you download and install Microsoft-certified (WHQL) drivers. Video cards that use the 3DFX chip (Voodoo brand etc.) no longer have support fo r DirectX libraries 8 and above. As Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets requir es DirectX8.0a or higher these video cards are no longer supported. ================================================================== Supported Chipsets ================================================================== The following graphics card chipsets are supported with Harry Potter and the Cha mber of Secrets(tm) : ATI Rage 128 ATI Radeon series nVidia RIVA TNT nVidia RIVA TNT2 (Ultra) nVidia GeForce series Matrox G400 Matrox G450 Matrox G550 Matrox Parhelia Power VR Kyro I & II SiS 315 If you are experiencing problems with your video card with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, try updating your video card driver by downloading the latest driver available f rom the video card manufacturer. ================================================================== Improving Game Play Performance

================================================================== Some machines will benefit from experimenting with your video/sound options: - Try lowering the texture detail inside the 'Options' menu. This is particularly useful for computers with less than 128 MB of RAM. - If your video resolution is greater than 640x480 and gameplay seems sl ow or jerky, try reducing it to 640x480 in 'Options' menu. - If your colour bit depth is 32 bits, try reducing it to 16 bits in your video menu. ================================================================== Other Issues ================================================================== Remapping Keys: If you remap the MAP key, you will need to use the ESC key to exit the map. If you wish to restore the key mappings to their default value, you will need to delete the Game.INI file in you're My Documents\Harry Potter II folder for Windows 2K / XP, for Windows 95/98 & ME this file can be found in the installed Harry Potter II directory in the system folder. This will restore all key mappings to their default values. There are certain key combinations, which can be mapped in both Quidditch and in normal game play. If you re-map these, the game shall function normally, but you might find it confusing. If you wish to restore to the default mappings , follow the instructions above on deleting the Game.ini file. Installing new Video Card onto your computer: If you install a new video card onto your computer, you will need to delete the Game.INI file in you're My Documents\Harry Potter II folder for Windows 2K / XP, for Windows 95/98 & ME this file can be found in the installed Harry Potter II directory in the system folder. This will allow the g ame to detect your new video card. Keyboard Options: We do not recommend you bind the keypad insert key in combination with the shift key. It will cause screen shots to be taken. CTRL+ALT+DEL We recommend you do not ever CTRL+ALT+DEL while running the game. This may cause the game to be unstable and render it unplayable. Please note that Task switching has been disabled in Harry Potter and the Chambe r of Secrets. Video:

Users of the Savage 4 chipset may encounter minor lighting issues during gamepla y. The Savage 2000 chipset does not have official WIndows XP drivers and therefor w ill only work on WIn 9X systems. Users of the SIS 315 chipset may encounter extended loading times. Sound: Music/Sound volume sliders are located in the 'Audio' section of the 'Options' menu. The sliders give you the ability to adjust the various game volume levels. Note: Using an ALS4000 soundcard users may encounter voice sounds missing in are as of the game. Controls: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets supports Microsoft Windows-compatible ke yboards, mice and DirectX compatible game controllers. Some PC keyboards cannot recognize certain combinations of 3 or more simultaneously pressed keys. To resolve this you may redefine your control keys through the 'Options' menu. Should you decide to change controls away from the default configuration some of the tutorial messages will refer to the original default keys rather than the new settings. Windows XP: Windows XP has a feature called Fast User Switching; this allows multiple users sharing the same computer to have individual profiles and to swap their current work spaces without logging off. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets does no t fully support this feature and as such it has been disabled whilst the title i s running. ================================================================== Useful Web Sites ================================================================== http://www.eagames.com Visit Electronic Arts in action, and see our other products. http://techsupport.ea.com Lots of useful Electronic Arts support information. http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Keep your Windows installation up to date. ================================================================== Notices ================================================================== 2002 Electronic Arts Inc.
