Unit Summary
By the end of the 9 lessons, pupils will be able to show understanding of the elements of literature
such as characters, theme, plot, setting and aesthetic appreciation of the text.

Students will be able to:
• Identify and write the details pertaining to the book cover.
• Talk about the characters depicted on the cover of the book.
• Read aloud the story with different voice modulation.
• Identify the main characters and the plot in the story in a word web.
• Mime scenes to recall reading from the previous lesson
• Express emotions through illustrations in a worksheet
• Identify the plot and show understanding by completing a ‘plot grid’
• Complete the speech bubbles according to the plot in the story
• Read and act out dialogues from the story
• Produce a menu on the food served in the story and able to write their preferences of the
food
• Apply principles of science to predict the ending of the story
• State table manners other than the ones found in the book
• Produce a ‘Good Table Manners’ scrap book.
• Produce a ‘Diorama’ on two different settings of the story
• Design an invitation for Anansi in the form of sms, email, card , memo or a telephone call
• Write their reflections pertaining to interests, characters, food portraying personal growth
• Appreciate parts of the text by transforming the text into different genres, such as songs,
dance, sms, email, telephone conversations, menus, invitations, scrap book and diorama.
