On March 26th 2011, we had a science trip to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.

It is one of the largest covered bird park in the world. It is located nearest to the Orchid Garden and the Tun Abdul Razak Memorial. It is a right place for the bird lovers in Malaysia to grab the opportunity to watch more than 3000 birds. Most of the birds are being let to fly freely in the park. There not only fauna (birds) but also various kind of flora that created beautiful landscape of the bird park. The park is beautifully decorated and it was created to suit the birds natural environment. The bird park is open daily from 9am to 6pm. Only RM20 we can enjoy seeing various kind of birds.

This is my first time visiting the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park. For me, it is a nice place to go and I think that it is a suitable place to bring pupils there. In my opinion, there are many benefits if teacher can organize a school trip to go there especially for the science subject. There are so many birds as hornbills, flamingos, parrots, cockatoos, storks, pheasants, mynahs pigeons, macaws, ducks, water hens and many more. All the birds are from various countries like Australia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, Indonesia, Tanzania, China, Holland, Africa, South America, South East Asia and Malaysia.

It is not a big problem for the teacher to bring pupils to the bird park. There are so many useful information that the teacher can get from the information board around the bird park. The teacher can use the information from the board to explain to the pupils about the birds that exist in the park. So that, the pupil will gain more informative knowledge about various kind of birds.

Based on the picture, the bird is called Spot Billed Pelican. It is one of big birds that live nearby the sea. The teacher can explains to the pupils that this is one of the endangered species from the family of pelican. It uses big beak to catch fish. So that, the teacher can explains to the pupils that, there are endangered bird species that we have to be responsible in order to preserve it. Indirectly, it will create the sense of awareness amongst the pupils.

From the ostrich, the teacher can tells the pupils that this is the largest bird on earth. Ostrich is one of the birds that cannot fly. It also can run very fast. The egg of

the ostrich is very big. The interesting fact is, the ostrichs egg has very thick and strong shell. It is the largest of all eggs and can bear the weight of an adult man.

This is an eagle that lives in a small cage at the bird park. The teacher can explains to the pupils that the eagle is from the family of bird of prey. It hunts smaller animals for food. It means that eagles are carnivores. The different between carnivore birds with the other birds, they have sharp claws to catch their prey and sharp beaks to tear the meats. Eagles also have sharp view and able to see their prey from far. As for conclusion, Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is an interesting place to be visited especially as a school science trip. Pupils will be exposed and gain more knowledge about birds. From there, pupils will realised that birds not only the flying animals in the sky but they have varieties in their very own ways.
