ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), established in the year 2003, is a new generation self-financing engineering college administrated by Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT), a registered body formed by more that a thousand philanthropic Non-Resident Keralities most based in the Arab Gulf states. The college is affiliated to University of Calicut and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It has also secured ISO 9001:2008 certifications. VAST is also an institutional member of IEI. Recently VAST has got an approval to start an ISTE IGNOU Programme Centre (IIPC). A variety of courses are planned under IIPC. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Department of Mechanical Engineering commenced its programs in 2003, the year of inception of Institute. The Department has 15 teaching and 10 supporting staff, well experienced in teaching, research and industry. The CAD/CAM laboratory of UG is well equipped with the latest softwares like Auto CAD, AutoCAD Inventor, ProE, Ansys and lot

more. In addition to the latest softwares, the lab is equipped with CNC machines and simulation software CNC Train. Also, the department conducts National seminar and various short term courses, time to time. SHORT TERM COURSE OBJECTIVES: This short term course familiarizes two useful softwares like, AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor to the participants. The primary objective of the AutoCAD courseware is to teach participants the basic commands necessary for professional 2D drawing, design, and drafting using AutoCAD. After completing this course, participants will be able to Navigate the AutoCAD user interfaces Use the fundamental features of AutoCAD

with a thorough understanding of the principal 3D design, validation, and documentation processes necessary for developing products using Autodesk Inventor. After completing this course, participants will be able to:

Create, analyze and produce 2D drafts

3D parametric models of parts and assemblie

You will be proficient in fundamental 3D modeling techniques. Create, place, and constrain custom and standard components in an assembly.

COURSE SCHEDULE: This course commences on 16 - 07 - 2011 to 14 - 01- 2012. Course Timings: 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM & 01:45 PM to 04:30 PM; This course will be conducted on every Saturdays.
