Comparison of emotional intelligence of fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High School living with one parent and living with both parents STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Is there a difference between the emotional intelligence of fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High School living with one parent and living with both parents? OBJECTIVES: GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To compare the emotional intelligence of fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High School living with one parent and living with both parents SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: 1. To determine the proportion of fourth year high school students who are living with single parent and living with both parents 2. To determine the emotional intelligence of the subjects living with one parent and living with both parents 3. To determine other factors that influence the emotional intelligence of students living with only one parent and living with both parents 4. To determine if there is an association between emotional intelligence of fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High School living with one parent and with both parents HYPOTHESIS: There is a difference between the emotional intelligence of fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High School living with one parent and living with both parents.

Research Design The cross-sectional study design is utilized for the assessment of the emotional intelligence of the study population composed of two hundred (200) fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High school. The subjects to be selected are only those students who live with a single parent, and those who live with both. Moreover, the emotional intelligence of the each student shall be assessed in relation to the parental relationship status. STUDY POPULATION: The study population of this research is composed of all fourth year high school students enrolled in Dasmarinas National Highschool. SAMPLE POPULATION The sample population is 200 fourth year High school student enrolled in Dasmarinas National High School who live with a single parent and those who live with both. The sample population will be selected stratified random sampling. SAMPLING FRAME The sampling frame is the selected fourth Year high school students in Dasmarias National Highschool. SAMPLING UNIT The sampling unit is one fourth year high school student who is 15-16 years old and is enrolled in Dasmarias National High School in Dasmarias, Cavite. ELEMENTARY UNIT The elementary unit is one fourth year high school student, 15-16 years old and enrolled in Dasmarias National High School in Dasmarias, Cavite. Emotional intelligence and living with both parents or living with a single parent will be determined.

SELECTION OF SUBJECTS The sampling method to be used is cluster sampling. 1. The study population will be divided into clusters. That is, fourth year high school students of Dasmarinas National High school will be divided into clusters that is based on their sections. 2. A random sample of the sections will be selected through drawing of lots. 3. All students who got a mark from draw lots will be given a questionnaire. 4. All students in the selected sections will be the subjects. Data regarding the measurement of the emotional intelligence of each student will be done through a modified emotional quotient test that is based on the Golemans test. Since a cross-sectional study design will be utilized, the subjects will be classified into four exposure and disease status groups (A-D): A = Students who live with a single parent with low emotional quotient B = Students who live with a single parent with high emotional quotient C = Students who live with double parents with low emotional quotient D = Students who live with double parents with high emotional quotient
