The demand-supply imbalance had transformed many cities into a suppliers market. However, post the second quarter of FY 2009, many companies have rationalised travel related budgets and are finding rates offered by existing hotels prohibitive for the mid-level travellers, forcing them to look for more cost-effective alternatives.
The mid-level traveller constitutes a key target market and is a key driver of volumes in commercial destinations and displacement of this business will be available for hotel chains that will offer value for money and consistent service delivery.
The budget and mid market hotel space is doted with stand-alone hotels that often suffer from inconsistent service standards and lack of reliable safety and security protocols. Hygiene is also a cause of concern and hotels offering a good product, consistent service and a safe and secure environment at affordable prices will be able to achieve higher than fair share of the market in the medium & long term.
The total built up area required to develop the proposed hotels is significantly lower compared to larger format, full service hotels, thus providing a unique opportunity to Check Inn Hotels to leverage their existing land banks across various markets in India.

The rate adjustment factor will be comparatively lower for hotels with budget/midmarket orientation and these hotels are expected to present a flatter, but more stable, growth trajectory over a long term period.

The Check-Inn XPRESS brand is positioned to cater to budget/economy segment with select service offerings and a price positioning between Rs.3,000 and Rs.6,000. The proposed hotels will ideally be located within 3 to 5 kilometer circular radius of high density demand areas such as commercial hubs, business districts, special economic zones, business parks, integrated mixed-use developments and nodal transportation hubs. The brand foot-print will encompass primary, secondary and tertiary business destinations and principle points of visitation in key leisure markets.
