UFO REMNANTS DISCOVERY IN AKLAN, PANAY By Joseph C.

Mangilaya Ibajay, Aklan, Philippines

The mountain people who populate the hinterland of central Panay that was bounded by the by the four provinces of Aklan, Capiz Antique and Iloilo, that shares the same roots of their language has an oral tradition of storytelling by means of chanting. The chants date back to ancient times when recording through writing was not yet invented. The chant was handed down from one generation to another in complete details. In one verses of the chant there was an allusion to a flying object. The passage reads like this. Labaw Dunggon rode on a boat that floats in the air. In ancient tribe era, a boat is a dug out vessel carved from a single log, no fancy adornment nor sails. If we pictured that vision in todays interpretation this flying object is a sleek vessel elongated in form and floats in the air. This can be easily interpreted as a flying object; the UFO of ancient time that was described by the tribal people simply as a flying boat.

Based on the chant mentioned, the author hinted that there was a UFO in ancient times in the island of Panay. But can the chant be verified? What if the chant is only a work of fiction, a storytellers composition that was used to entertain the tribe and not a historical record of ancient people of Panay? The answers to these question lies on the discovery of modern science. If UFO really existed in ancient times in Panay and then there will also record in the chant of Spacemen, a cosmic entity different from the Earthlings. Yes there was referral into it. The tribe called them as pangayaw, meaning visitors. The tribe called the heaven as Panimalay ni Alunsina. The place the tribe believed as the dwelling abode of the pangayaw and the final destination of their race Then here comes the legend of Bakunawa the mythical dragon revered by the tribe. Bakunawa was described in the chant as a flying dragon with a head of a catfish and a body of a snake. It was humongous where its mouth is as big as the mouth of the river. It was described that when it flew, its head can cover the moon from the viewpoint of the onlookers as its shadow cast darkness upon the land The tribes described this occurrence as xxz meaning the Bakunawa is devouring the moon.

These are the descriptions of the Bakunawa from the viewpoint of the tribe, as recorded in their chant. Now let us analyze it in todays interpretation. The Bakunawa came from heaven. The Bakunawa can fly, float, land, swim and dive underwater. The Bakunawa has a big head with a big mouth. These can be interpreted that the mythical Bakunawa is a spaceship capable of flying, landing and submersion under water. Because of its big mouth even big objects can go in and out from its big mouth. The very near description of this mythical dragon is a Mother Spaceship where the smaller elongated UFO whom the tribe called flying boat goes in and out of its big mouth. Now lets tackle about another interpretation. There was no evidence that the Bakunawa was found and authenticated. But there was evidence that the mountainous people of Panay have genes of unknown origin. The people who inhabited the area and some of them who have migrated to the lowland of the island have uniqueness of having flexible bones where it can elongate, expand, compact and swell as they live their normal adult lives. In most cases, the bones stop growing and became permanent. Only a certain type of people has this kind of characteristics on their bones and all of them emanated from the hinterland of Panay. These are the authors interpretation regarding about the ancient chant of the tribe.
