Position Summary: Review and edit manuscripts according to project guidelines, schedules, budgets, and divisional standards of quality and accuracy; will write or rewrite portions of manuscript; proofread copy and make necessary corrections according to the Texas state curriculum standards. Must be self-motivated, detailoriented, establish working relationship quickly, and comfortable working in a dynamic team environment. Qualifications: Education/Certification Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited Four-Year College or University required Certified as a Secondary Mathematics Teacher required Masters' degree (M.A. or M.S.) from an accredited Four-Year College or University required Experience

Must have 3+ years of experience in Mathematics at the high school (9th 12th grade) level. Prefer 3+ years of experience in Science at the high school (9th 12th grade) level.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)


Advanced knowledge of the latest trends in education, and is able to develop creative solutions for instructional needs. Advanced knowledge of state curriculum standards for K-12 learning and the textbook marketplace. Must have working knowledge of states assessment exams (TAKS, TEKS, and STAAR), including End of Course (EOC) Assessments. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability to research new teaching styles, techniques, and tools. Must be able to proofread and make edits as necessary. Must have the ability to communicate well with team members. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Must have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Preferred KSAs

3+ years of experience in educational publishing. 3+ years of experience of editing curriculum manuscripts. Advanced knowledge of emerging trends in web-based instruction and can develop nonprint solutions.

Working knowledge of basic bookmaking processes. Experience with mathematics media content.

Responsibilities and Duties: The Math Content Editor will be responsible for the following: Review, edit, and write according to state standard guidelines; improve overall content of manuscript by eliminating wordiness, jargon, passive voice, and adding effective transitions. Perform special projects, during and after normal business hours, and other duties as assigned. Travel as required. Equipment Used: All equipment and software required to perform jobs duties and task previously described are provided.
