Bank Limited (EBL), one of the most valuable banking brands in Bangladesh, as Managing Director and CEO. Iftekhar has always been a team person and believes in developing human capital. He joined EBL in 2004 as Deputy Managing Director and prior to assuming the office of the MD and CEO in 2007 he was Additional Managing Director of the Bank. Before joining EBL he was with AB Bank for a period of two years in various capacities including Deputy Managing Director. Iftekhar started his career with BCCI OVERSEAS LTD., Bangladesh in 1985 as Probationary Officer. As an outstanding performer he won General Managers Special Award. He left BCCI in 1991 and joined Banque Indosuez. He worked in the Treasury and Recovery departments. He joined Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Dhaka in 1993 as Relationship Manager and was promoted to Senior Relationship Manager the next year. From August 1994 he was assigned the job of a team leader of Dhaka Corporate Banking Marketing. He was assigned as Senior Credit Officer, Bangladesh and was seconded to Regional Office, Dubai in Regional Credit Division in 1998. Promoted and returned as Head of Credit, Bangladesh for SCB. After the global acquisition of Grindlays Bank by SCB, Iftekhar was selected as the Head of Credit, Bangladesh for SCB and Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank Bangladesh. This was due to his high quality skills set & adherence to risk management as per international standard. Apart from being the Head of Credit, Iftekhar administered other assignments as management committee member in Standard Chartered Bank which include Local Portfolio Management Committee, American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce & Industry, India Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is a dreamer, humanitarian, music lover and an art connoisseur. During his tenure as MD and CEO, EBL has witnessed great initiatives taken in the field of art and culture, sports and education. In human capital management EBL has experienced innovative moves from the man at the helm of affairs. He has initiated performance culture in the bank by inspiring people to perform. He believes in

He was awarded Chief Executives Special Award for Revenue Generation, Asset Growth, Recovery of Bad debts. In his chequered career, Iftekhar has attended as many as 50 overseas trainings and seminars on Corporate, Retail and Credit mainly in the Middle East, Europe and the Far East. He is one of the co-author and member of Core Risk Management of the central bank. He has also conducted several training programs on Credit & Risk Analysis for EBL and other organizations. Born on April 19, 1961 Iftekhar graduated from University of Dhaka in Marketing in 1982 and is happily married with two children. He is quite known for his wanderlust and visited around 27 countries and 56 cities of the world.
