THE THREE MSP deacons have been ordained to the order of presbyters last January 10, 2009 at the MSP Seminary Chapel in Tagaytay City. The new priests are: Fr Arvin Mosqueda MSP of Sevilla, Bohol; Fr Robert Saballo MSP of Lubang, Mindoro; and Fr Percy Singco MSP of Ginatilan, Cebu. They were ordained by His Excellency, Most Rev. Crispin Varquez, DD, the bishop of Borongan. The concelebrants were twenty-seven MSP priests, two SVD priests, and two diocesan priests. Some of the MSP priests came from the foreign missions, who will represent in the forthcoming 7th MSP General Assembly. These include Fr Doods Pinili (Cook Islands), Frs Bobbie Cue and Elie Sangco (PNG), Fr Saret Tablon (Netherlands), Fr Nads Lumandas (Japan), Fr Nilo Pacuribot (Thailand), Fr Alvin Parantar (Korea), Frs Jags Jugadora and Mawe Jadraque (Taiwan). The two SVD priests were guests of Fr Saballo: one is his present parish priest, and the other is his former parish priest in Lubang. The diocesan priests are Fr Ramil Marcos of the Holy Family Parish in Kapitolyo, Pasig (the parish where Fr Mosqueda served as deacon) while the other priest is Fr Jude Besinga. In his homily, Bishop Varquez, a Sevilla native, reflected on the priesthood as gift, order, and devotion or GOD in short. The people who attended the celebration came from the different parts of the country: Davao, Cebu, Bohol, Mindoro, Metro Manila, and Cavite. The mayor of Sevilla, Bohol and company came, as well as representatives of the mayor of Manila. The celebration started at 9:00 a.m. and was finished before 12:00 noon. Ikalawa, ANG KATAPATAN. Nakahihigit pa rin ang mga batang tapat. Ang kadalisayan ng kanyang puso ay nagbubunsod pa rin sa kanya na magsabi ng katotohanan. Madali siyang kausapin at may naghaharing takot pa rin sa kanya na magbitiw ng mga salitang hindi naayon sa tunay niyang kaalaman. Ang oo sa kanya ay tunay na nangangahulugang oo, at ang hindi ay hindi. Ang gusto sa kanya ay tunay na nangangahulugang gusto, at ang ayaw ay ayaw. Dahil dito madali natin siyang maunawaan. Bibihira ang dulot niyang gulo. Kung kayat sa mundo ng mga bata, abot kamay ang kapayapaan at katiwasayan. Ito ang sekreto ng kanyang maligayang mundo. Una, ANG KAPAYAKAN. Simple lang ang pangarap ng isang bata. Hindi kumplikado tulad ng karamihan sa matatanda. Kadalasan, hinihingi lamang niya ay kanyang mga tunay na pangangailangan at Ikatlo, ANG KABABAANG-LOOB. Kung ating pagmamasdan ang hindi ang mga luho mga bagay na makapagdudulot kilos ng isang bata, sinisikap niyang magawa ang isang bagay. Sa kansa kanya ng mga simpleng kaligayahan. Dahil sa kanyang mga payak na yang murang pagkakilala sa kanyang sarili, alam niyang kahit papaano kahilingan at pangarap, miminsan lamang siyay mabigo sa hindi ay mayroon siyang kakayahan. Subalit dumarating sa puntong nakikita pagkakakamit o pagkakaloob sa kanya ng mga bagay na ito. Dahil dito niya ang kanyang pangangailangan sa tulong ng iba. Higit tayong mamumulat sa kabutihan at lamang natin masusumpungan ang katotohanang ito. Ang tunay na kabakadakilaan ng Diyos sapagkat hindi dadalas ang mga pagkakataong baang-loob ay ang pagyakap sa kanyang buong pagkatao maiisip natin na madamot ang mundong nilikha ng Diyos. pagpapayabong ng kanyang mga kalakasan at pagsusumikap mabago ang kanyang mga kahinaan.

CATHOLIC FAITH:
The Santo Nio de Ceb ("Holy Child of Cebu") is a Roman Catholic depiction of the Child Jesus, similar to the Infant Jesus of Prague, and other venerated statues. Like them, it is clothed in textile robes. For centuries Santo Nino served as the patron saint of Cebu, and continues to be celebrated at the Sinulog, the primary festival of Ceb. It is located at the Basilica Minore del Santo Nio in Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. recitation of the rosary, followed by various Philippine native songs and prayers. These prayers include a thanksgiving prayer, a blessing for the hosting family, an act of consecration prayer, and a prayer for the sick.

Myths and lore

Native Cebuanos were not fully Christianized and continued to believe in their native, animistic, gods; recognizing the Santo Nio only as another "anito" (idol). Even so, many myths and folklore surround the image as brought on by the religious beliefs of the people. Local helpers at the Basilica Minore del Santo Nio have reported that the Santo Nio sometimes disappeared from its glass case at night only to return with grass stains on its clothes. This sparked speculations that the Santo Nio took long walks at night. There were never any official accounts of these stories and they were often dismissed as local superstitions, but this did not lessen the number of devotees to the Santo Nio. To date, the Santo Nio is still considered miraculous by some Cebuanos. A Santo Nino statue can be found in almost every Cebuano household, no matter where they might live in the world. While the Santo Nio has been popular recently in the Philippines, perhaps its predecessor can be found in Spain during the 1400s which were still occupied by Muslims. Then pilgrims still travelled to the Holy Land, and were often harassed on the road during their arduous journey. Sometimes it was said that a Christ Child had appeared to them at night dressed in fine clothes such as the Santo Nino of Cebu wore although in addition he bore a staff in his left hand where hung a gourd full of fresh water and a basket of bread in his right hand. These he would share with the famished pilgrims, perhaps appearing to another group of them the same night. The image resided in a local chapel where parish women would tend to its fine apparel with particular attention to the Santo Nio's shoes. Often the parish ladies would arrive in the morning to find that the Christ Child's shoes which they had left so clean the day before had become soiled overnight as if he had been walking the roads. Spanish clergy heard the pilgrims' tales of the Santo Nio and went to witness the road beaten shoes when only the evening before they had been clean. History
In April 1521, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, in the service of Charles I of Spain, arrived in Cebu during his voyage to find a westward route to the Spice Islands [1]. He persuaded Rajah Humabon and his wife Hara Humamay, to pledge their allegiance with Spain. They were later baptized into the Catholic faith, taking the Christian names Carlos and Juana. Magellan gave Juana the Santo Nino as a symbol of the alliance. However, Magellan died during the Battle of Mactan later that month, and the alliance became more or less moot. The Spanish returned to the Philippines in February 1565. Cebu was the first stop of Basque explorer Miguel Lpez de Legazpi, who would later found Manila. He defeated Rajah Tupas (nephew to Humabon) on April 27, destroying the village in the process. The Santo Nino was found relatively unscathed in a burnt-out dwelling. This event was quickly acknowledged as miraculous, and a church was later constructed on the purported site of the discovery. Today, the Basilica Minore del Santo Nio is an important historical and religious landmark in Cebu, with devotees forming long line up to pay their respects to the Holy Child.

Feast
The Holy See has approved special liturgical texts for use during the local Feast of the Santo Nio in the Philippines, set on the third Sunday of January. The festival that follows is known as the Sinulog, which combines the street festivities and religious devotion of the Cebuano people.

Patron Saint
The Santo Nio was long considered to be the patron "saint" of Cebu. However, the Santo Nio is a representation of Jesus Christ as a child. The Catholic Church in the Philippines sets the Holy Child as an example of humility and as a celebration of the Incarnation. Many Cebuanos do not consider the Christmas Season over until the Feast of the Santo Nio. With this in mind, in 2002, the Archbishop of Cebu, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, declared Jesus' mother Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe to be the principal patroness of Cebu. This upset some Santo Nio devotees, who felt that the declaration "demoted" the Holy Child. However, the declaration is consistent with Catholic thought requiring a patron saint be a human saint who has gone to his or her heavenly reward and who prays to God on behalf of the living, rather than a divine being himself. Since the Holy Child is a representation of Jesus, the Second Person of the Trinity, he cannot, as God, be considered a patron. In that sense, Cardinal Vidal's move was to actually install a patron saint for Cebu, when before there was none. He did not, however, abolish the feast or the traditional street celebrations. Magiging karamay din siya ng lahat higit pa sa isang kaibigan o kapatid. Naparito siya upang maging bukal ng biyaya, ang palaganapin ang magandang plano ng Diyos Ama para sa sanlibutan lalot higit sa espirituwal na pamumuhay ng tao. Kaya naman, nararapat lamang na Magpasalamat tayo sa Diyos at Ama ng ating Panginoong Jesu-Cristo! Pinagkalooban niya tayo ng lahat ng pagpapalang espirituwal dahil sa ating pakikipag-isa kay Cristo. (Efeso 1:3) Sa pamamagitan niya ay ating natatamasa ang mga biyaya at bunga ito ng ating pakikiisa sa misteryo. Ngunit nagpapakita ang misteryong ito ng isang hamon upang pagnilayan nating mabuti

Nino ay nakabatay sa pagmamahal din natin sa mga bata, binibigyang-diin nito ang ating pananampalataya sa Diyos ay tunay ngang matatag bagamat itoy payak. Atin sanang alalahanin ang mga panahong naranasan natin ang pagkakaisa bilang isang sambayanan ng Diyos, noong sinusunod natin ang Kanyang kalooban na siyang magiging hamon sa bawat isa lalo na sa mga pagkakataong ito. Patuloy sana tayong umasa at manampalataya sa gitna ng krisis na ating naranasan. Alalahanin nating Siya ay palaging naririto, kasa-kasama natin sa ating pagtahak sa landas ng kaligtasan.

THE SANTO NiOS IN MY LIFE

The image of the Santo Nio is one of the three most popular images of Christ which is expressive of the Filipino culture and tradition. There is no place in the world where you can find the deep devotion and commitment to the baby Jesus except the Filipinos. The image of the Holy Child shows the innocence, simplicity, and the child like wonder of Christ (CFC#467). This infant became the Savior of humankind. them my blessing, recalling how each of them have helped me strengthen my faith. These four santo nios have become my saviors. Third, asking for their assistance in the different tasks that I had to do. I was one of the organizers of our ICA High School Batch Silver Jubilee and Alumni Homecoming and I was tasked to do some of the major parts. However, my work was made a lot, lot easier through the help of my two daughters. I did not have to worry about emceeing and computerizing everything because they were there to help me. I was so amazed at how skillful they have become. Oh! It really made me sooooooooooo proud of them. These four santo nios have become my saviors.

I consider the Christmas holidays I just had as one of the most I wondered about how all these things were made possible.
