Credit Card Cloning Only two minutes are enough for a credit card to be cloned and five for

plastics owners to be stripped off their capital. One of the many benefits of technological development is about the diversification of services currently offered by credit card companies to their users. But one of the current problems is the credit cards cloning. It has been determined that there are four kinds of bank fraud that are repeated daily. First is the duplication or cloned cards, which is based on the use of a small machine, called skimmer, a magnetic stripe reader device of credit and debit cards. By simply passing the card through the scanner, all bank information is captured. Then, the information content (including confidentiality key) is emptied into the computer to falsify and clone a new card. This reader is usually placed in the ATM; so it is recommended to be very careful. Then there is phishing, which involves the use of people impersonating a trusted company to obtain confidential bank details fraudulently. Third is the phone phishing, a fraudulent e-mail faking as a trusted mail from an organization, especially banks, in which customers are persuaded to call a hotline. And last comes hacking done by people who, through sophisticated electronic wiles, access to bank accounts in which they are interested and commit fraud by electronic means. The way of working of this kind of criminals is due mainly four strategies: by obtaining the personal identification number (PIN); card lost or stolen; duplication in the compilation of the same transaction in a settlement and counterfeiting through. Currently, many worldwide organizations and banks are revising rules that will serve as a model and standardize the measures pursued by the banks, thus helping to reduce online fraud. That's for the future, but at the moment, these organizations are focused on verifying if the banks are responsible for implementing the tools necessary to reduce the cards cloning. Nowadays, these organizations are inspecting electronic platforms for banks to know whether systems are using antivirus, antiphishing, antispam, firewall and IDS, among others. Indeed officials of the Bank of Mexico, recently reported that the whole bank system has plans to change the ATM network to increase the levels of technology and reduce the possibility of fraud. The cards cloning will be attacked with the change of magnetic stripe card to a chip, which will be responsible of holding customer data.

On the other hand, in the criminal justice system, card cloning has been classified as a serious felony, so whoever is caught in this fraudulent action, immediately after their arrest will be consigned to a jail and will face a process in prison without the right of bail.
