1769-IF8 configuration information in RSLogix 5000.


This document will cover what is needed to get the 1769-IF8 module configured and channels enabled in RSLogix 5000 software. RSLogix 5000 version 12 and 13: See Knowledgbase document G80353611 for generic profile information for the 1769-IF8 module. Based on the profile information, there is a configuration file created that is 50 words long. There are two words for each channel that need to be modified to configure the Output Data Format, Output Data Type, and Channel Enable which will get the channel working. For example, words 2 and 3 are used for Channel 0 configuration, words 8 and 9 are for Channel 1 configuration and so on.

WHERE: EC = Enable Channel Inpt Dta Fm Chlx = Input Data Format Select: select the form the analog data is presented to the controller and used in the control program. Inpt Tp/Rnge Sel Chlx = Input Type/Range Select: configure the Input Type/Range. Reserved = Bits not used, allows for future expansion. Should be programmed to 0.

The areas in red are the only bits that need to be changed to get the channels operational. 1. Set the enable bit to turn on the channel. Configuration Word 2, 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, or 44: Bit 15: E Channel Enable. (0) Disabled. (1) Enabled. 2. Set the bits necessary for the output type and data type according to the lists below. 3. Download the program to the processor to make the configuration take affect. Note: The actual addressing for the configuration word will appear as Local:e:C.Data[0] where e is the slot number of the analog card.
