1. SCOPE OF WORKS This Method Statement highlights the Technical Fabrication & Construction Co. Ltd (TEFCO) work sequence intended for Excavation Works at all areas. Execution of work shall be carried out in accordance with the relevant project execution. 2. 4. Execution This method Statement describes the steps to be taken and sequence of events necessary to satisfactory completion of each activity. 4.1 Excavation works at all areas shall commence after the following items of works have been satisfactorily installed and completed as per project requirements. 4.1.1 All required work permits, IFC drawings for excavation shall be obtained prior to the start of works. All the underground utilities such as pipes, electrical cables, telephone cables and other related utilities below the ground shall be checked and underground embedment must be cleared before starting the work. To check the work areas accessibility for dump trucks, loader and other equipment that hauling the excavated materials. If unsuitable soil such as organic material or rock is encountered before reaching the specified final excavation depth, the Contractor shall obtain direction from SIPCHEM & OLAYAN DESCON before proceeding with any works. To unload the excavated materials at the designated area shall be approved by SIPCHEM & OLAYAN DESCON

4.2 Excavation works shall be executed in accordance with this method statement and ensures that the following are being taken as minimum precautions; 4.2.1 4.2.2 Work areas shall be cleared during and after each work. Cut the existing asphalt prior for the excavation work.

Break the existing asphalt manually by the use of air compressor jack hammer before the excavation of trial pit. Use manual excavation as trial pit using hand tools as per SABIC Standard. Manually excavation shall begin after all the areas have been properly investigated. Excavation shall be in benching of sloping procedure until its final depth and adequate shoring shall be provided if excavation is deeper than 1.2 m. Access and egress shall be provided for the entering inside the excavated areas. Excavation shall at all times be executed in the dry. It will be equipped with sufficient dewatering facilities ahead of necessary excavation and within such excavation, if so required, so as to allow the natural material to drain and to control the flow of water from any sources.

4.3 Excavation for underground area shall be of the following method. 4.3.1 The slope of the excavation shall maintain as per excavation standard. 4.3.1.1 Stable Rock Natural solid mineral matter

4.3.1.4 Type C Soil The least cohesive soil, such as gravel, sand, muddy or freely seeping soils, and submerged rock that is not stable.

Provide complete ladder for access in and out of the excavation and for the accessibility of the workers. Walkways complete with handrails will be provided for crossing walkways.

All the compaction equipment shall be suitable for the entire lift being compacted and the type fill material being compacted. The type and size of hand-operated vibratory compactor and power tampers for use in restricted areas shall be suitable to perform the required compaction. Provision shall be made to keep the excavation dry and to remove any water, which may accumulate in the excavations. No manhole, concrete structure, or sewer pipe shall be installed in water without prior written approval by SIPCHEM & OLAYAN DESCO and Royal Commission.

4.6 Water shall be removed be removed by well points with multi dewatering pumping header, hoses and collecting tank or other methods approved by SIPCHEM & OLAYAN DESCON. 4.7 Any over excavation at footing shall be backfilled with lean concrete and for earthen structures backfilled with suitable fill material with compaction. 4.8 Trenching for underground pipes, conduits, and duct bank shall be kept dry during bedding, laying and testing, and provided proper care and protection to prevent damage to existing facilities.

5.1. SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY 5.2. Monitoring the activities and verifying the compliance with specification, drawings, and IFC (Issued For Construction) as well as preparing QC records. 5.3. Inspectors shall conduct inspections and verify the compliance to project drawings, plans and specifications. 5.4. To ensure all measuring instruments are in a current state of calibration and spots check during survey operation. 5.5. Surveyors shall furnish all lines and grades by marking every layer. 5.6. Civil supervisor shall verify availability of approved compaction equipment and operators. And check the work areas accessibility to dump trucks that hauling the fill materials. 5.7. All compaction equipment shall be suitable for the entire lift being compacted and the type fill material being compacted. The type and size of hand-operated vibratory compactor and power tampers for use in restricted areas shall be suitable to perform the required compaction.

6. SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY 6.1. The work shall be executed in accordance with approved safety plan and pre-cautioned by the weekly risk assessment. 6.2. Work permit shall be obtained prior to commencement of any work where required. 6.3. The used of equipment that is inspected and in good condition and all operators shall have a complete documents such as license before commencement of the work. 6.4. Ensuring that everyone has got PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and used at all times. 6.5. Area to be completely barricaded and permits relate to the work being done. Ensuring that no work is done unless the relevant permit is in place. 6.6. No person is allowed to work in any excavation where there is possibility of being struck by mechanical excavator. 6.7. TEFCO HSE with all its contests shall be implemented, in areas not covered within this method statement.
