2 Corinthians 5:18-21
BY PASTOR SANTOS YAO Before we came to faith in Christ, our relationships with God and with other people are characterized by suspicion, separation, and hostility. This is a direct result of sin entering the world. Sin includes a breaking-up as well as a building-up process. Relationships are severed. Walls are built up. About 2000 years ago, Jesus came to bring about reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-21; Eph. 2:14-18). This is the resounding message of the angels at His birth. Peace on earth and goodwill towards men (Lk. 2:14) At the Cross, Jesus effected a radical transformation for those who placed their trust in Him. We used to be Gods enemies (Rom. 8:7-8; James 4:4), but in Christ, we became His children (John 1:12). We used to consider each other as a threat. But in Christ, we are learning to trust, to accept, and to love one another. From enemies to brethren. Because of the new relationships that we now have, it comes naturally as His children that we get involved in what the Father is doing. We want to bring about reconciliation in the world. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are now learning how to love one another because of the Fathers love and our love for Him.
