We got onto the coach at about 8.30am. We had a very long journey to Battle Abbey, it took us two very long hours. When we arrived, Class 5C walked around the Battlefield where the battle took place, whilst 5B went to their Discovery Visit. There were information panels around the Battlefield, we all read them to get more information about the Battle of Hastings. Then we went to have lunch because we were all incredibly hungry. After lunch we went to the front of the Abbey and went into the Discovery Centre to learn more about the Battle of Hastings, the Normans and Saxon army, also more about the weapons and armour. After that, we went to the Visitor Centre and in it there was replica armour and weapons. Some of us watched a video about the Battle of Hastings and the shield wall, also about how William won the battle and became King on Christmas day. Finally, we went to the gift shop and got some souvenirs. We had another long journey back to school (we got back a bit later than we expected). So after a long day at Battle, we got back to school at about 4.15. We were all exhausted but we did have a good day together!!! By Jamie Puttick & Rebecca Nicklin (5C)

Many thanks to Amanda Reed, our Parent support adviser, Mrs Heasman and all her helpers, Mrs Cane, Mrs Fenton etc., who all helped to make Fridays cake sale in support of the MacMillan Coffee Afternoon a great success. The early birds enjoyed their coffee and cake in the cool peace and quiet of our new Breakfast and After School club room. As the bell went the sale of cakes moved to the car park where parents, children and staff flocked for a cake. They raised 135. So well done and many thanks to all the parents who kindly donated the cakes they were much appreciated and enjoyed by all!!

They also received reports on the recent fire drill and the school lettings. At each meeting there is a regular review of any relevant policy. Afterwards they inspected the north building works for the junior department. Tudor Display If you visited our book club this week you would have noticed our lovely display on Henry VIII and his six wives. The work was produced by Year 4 and Mrs Hood kindly spent several evenings producing the wall display with Miss Carter and Miss Hope . We are all very impressed with the Tudor houses made with parents as a homework project. Thank you for your support too.

And finally.......Road Safety Last Friday our Community Police officer popped into school after patrolling Brampton Road at home time. She was horrified at the poor road safety she saw. Parents were not teaching their children to safely cross at the pedestrian lights but encouraging them to cross between cars. She also commented on the lack of supervision of younger children, in particular on scooters, whilst parents were on their mobiles. She will be sending the camera car and officers to monitor the poor and unacceptable parking. Remember if you like what were doing tell us and others! If you dont, please help us improve!
