Oct 13, 2011 Senator Robert Portman Russell Senate Office Building, Room 338 Constitution and Delaware Avenues, NE Washington, DC 20510-3506 Subject: Sen. Portman I'm Disappointed You Voted Against Good Jobs Dear Senator Portman, With nearly 30 million Americans unemployed or seeking more work, President Obama's American Jobs Act is a critical piece of legislation that would create almost two million good jobs and put our economy back on the path to recovery. It should have passed. Your vote against the American Jobs Act proves that you don't understand the struggles of everyday Americans. Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children. I'm very disappointed that you are not representing my views in Congress! It's time for you to think "outside the Republican box!" Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mrs. Constance Rubin

Mr. Portman, It your responsibility as an elected official to carry out the wishes of your constituents. The polls are clear what is wanted. Your party of NO and its agenda is further trying to destroy Middle Class America. Instead of focusing on our economy and the high unemployment rate I see where your party is back to infringing on the right of women. Well, Mr. Portman where is the focus on creating jobs and putting Americans back to work? I would like a response to this. I think you have more pressing things to concern yourself with. Women's health will not create one job, so why is your party even going there at this time? Shame on your Mr. Portman and your party. And by the way, stay out of women's health. It's really not any of your business! Sincerely, Loretta Fansler Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. I am one of the people who has run out of unemployment and has been applying for jobs for the past two years. Being 51 years old and out of work I am finding I am being discriminated against because I am now overqualified for almost every job I apply for. How about passing something that as long as I am willing to work for the wage and I am at least qualified for the job they should hire me. I have not missed a day of work in years. President Obama has kept his word and come up with a jobs plan that includes Republican ideas as well as Democratic ones. To vote against this plan shows that you are among those who are determined to destroy our Republic. To be against just because you belong to a party and/or receive money from corporations rather than people without greed as their goal cannot be good for America. Corporations/investment brokers/ lending institutions drove us into this recession because Bush eliminated the restrictions/requirement through Executive privilege. They recorded record profits while the average middle class/lower middle class was forced to file bankruptcy. Bankruptcies grew exponentionally during that time and the companies did not create jobs just filed higher and higher profits. So regular people lost all trust in businesses to help the economy. I believe George Washington spoke about the against/against behaviors of the political parties as the destruction of our government. If the bill does get passed and things get worse, we will definitely have you to thank as we suffer and you continue to make a good living. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Senator Portman, You could have gained 40,700 good jobs for Ohio if you had voted for the President Obama's American Jobs Act. Why are you so against jobs for Ohio? Why do you hate Ohio citizens? Are you so political that you want GOP power in the White House at the expense of Ohio? You and your cohorts continue your "War On Women" and ignore the pressing need to boost the economy. Why is that? You and your political party gave a boost to the wars in the middle east, building schools, bridges, roads there and continue to ignore the needs in our nation. Why is that? Putting Americans back to work here will help the economy. Why are you so anti-American? I do not want another of your form letters in response to this mesage. OHIO NEEDS ACTION FROM YOU, NOT TALK . . . Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. I want you to know that I am very much in favor of President Obama's plan for improving our infrastructure and creating new (much needed) jobs. It also makes sense to me to have the wealthiest Americans (those that can afford it) pay more in taxes to fund this plan. Obviously, trickle-down economics doesn't work. Dear Sir: I know you fervently believe in the Republican ideology of small government, no tax increases and balanced budgets, but I can't also help but believe you are also just part of the Republican railroad trying to dump Obama. This means you'll say no to almost anything he proposes. I'm sorry but you're wrong, not as much because of your politics as because of your ideology. Without big government, there would be no space program. Without big government there would be no internet. Without big government during WWII there would have been no steel industry. Without big government those who have availed themselves of higher education since WWII would not have done so. Without big government, there would be no interstate highway system in this country. Without big government, we wouldn't have the electrical grid we have in the USA. Without big government, far fewer of the elderly would have medical care, and therefore we wouldn't have been the innovation we have in the medical and drug field today. And, most importantly, without big government, PRIVATE INDUSTRY would never have seen the opportunities for profit that are offshoots of these things, and never parted with their money to develop them themselves. So please get out of the way sir, and let what you cal "big government": spend our way out of this recession/depression that all the republican bankers have caused by greedily making loans they know the shouldn't have made. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children. You missed an opportunity to help the people of Ohio. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. Tim Chavez

Our roads and bridges are in bad shape. This was an opportunity to have them repaired on a large scale. Our infrastructure in in need of major overhaul. You could have killed two birds with one stone. Now what are you going to do to fix the employment problem and the infrastructure problem? Instead I'll have to pay increased fees, which are taxes, and pay for it myself and no jobs created. You guys are truly messing up this country. The GOP members simply appear to be opposing the President because he is a D. Knock off the bullshit and get something done. I have voted R most of my adult life. Not anymore. Senator Portman, Why is it that we continue to see that you act in the corporations best interest and not in the interest of the people that voted you into office. I sit here in awe of the selfishness of you and the party that you support. That is what I see in the media each and every day - the battle between Republicans and Democrats. Why do you have this intent in defeating this Jobs Bill but have no solution of your own in putting out of work Americans back to work. You keep giving to these corporations that leave the states and take the thousands of jobs with them to other countries. You, Senator Portman, have become another self serving politician who could have become a man of solutions and made a difference and stood up for the working man. My customers want me back because they have confidence that I will fix the equipment that they have problems with. Dear Sen. Portman, I simply do not buy the notion that cutting taxes and regulations will lead to economic recovery. After years of financial deregulation and endless corporate tax loopholes the economy of everyday Americans is the worst it has been since the last depression. Corporations with off shore tax havens and billionaires like the Koch brothers have bought huge profits for themselves from Congress such that corporate coffers have more cash on hand than many governments. Multinational CEO's are creating offshore jobs where labor is cheap and worker protection is nonexistent. Even if these oligarchs succeed in their short term objective of destroying the American middle class they are not likely to invest in America. Multinational CEO's have no loyalty to America. The Koch brothers have been selling chemicals to Iran. These greedy profiteers will simply set their sights on plundering the resources and workers of another country. Are you with working class Americans or with multinational profiteers Many of my friends and family share my deep disappointment that you voted against the American worker by not supporting the American Jobs Act. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Enter your message to Sen. Portman: You Republicans have absolutely no shame. You are willing to drag to country into a DEPRESSION in order to take down a President. Sadly the media does not want to talk about it, but this is simply a case of the good ole white boys saying NEVER to this black president. The disrespect continous moving the goal post on everything he tries to do by taking the opposit side of whatever it is. Not all you Republicans are racist, but you are marching in lock step to aid and abed those racist that are working to take him down because of his color. That make you somewhat of a defacto racist. It was no surprise that the Republicans AGAIN reared their racist heads and are not voting on the jobs bill. I am so dissappointed with the news everyday that comes out of Congress, because it is more important to the Republicans to make President Obama look like he has failed, than try and get millions of people back to work. Almost 30 million people are out of work because of the Republicans. Your vote against the jobs bill shows that you don't care about the American people and the struggles that they are going through everyday. All you care about are the 2% of the Americans that can line your pocket with money. You are ignoring the elderly, disabled, children who have no food and the millions of people without jobs, because it is more important to you to make our President look bad. He doesnt look bad,you do. You are heartless and so self obsorbed, that you put other peoples lives ahead of your own greedy success. That sucess may not last very long. They American people gave you a job to do and you are not doing it. So therefore your job is not secure, unless you think you can suppress every vote in every election. Barack Obama is the first African American President,GET OVER IT!! You are ruining more peoples lives everyday. You want the rich to inherit the country, well they will not suceed and either will you. You and your cronies, republicans are not American and run this country as a communist state. That is why you call yourselves the red state. Your job will be over when your re-election comes along. Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children.
Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Ms. Donna Adassa

I vote in every election and make decisions based upon who has done a good job for me and my family - it's not about Republicans vs. Democrats. Do right by your constituents please! I have severe misgivings and mistrust about this super committeee nonesense. I personally don't think I can trust this group to make the right decisions for my country. i know there are no EASY answers, But the hemming & hawing grows daily with pressure from all sorts of special interests viying influence the final decisions, especaillly the ploy to delay, procrastinate , and ofusticate until the only option will be masive cuts to people programs! Seems like Republicans campaigned on jobs and the most we hear out of them are social conservative tinkering and says "no" to progress. House Republicans spend more time going over anti-abortion legislation than they do on any other topic. If that was your agenda, it should have been the campaign message. Remember Jobs, Jobs, Jobs? Dear Senator Portman, Thank you so much for your nonresponse on The American Jobs Act. Putting Americans to work should be job one for you and your coleagues in the Senate and the House of Representatives. And yet we get endless bills on banning abortion from Federal funds that is already banned. The Republicans were swept into power with mantra of job, jobs, jobs, And yet almost a year later not one jobs proposal has been brought forward and passed. The Presidents proposal contained many things that have been supported by your party in the past and yet your party stifled this bill. I have supported Republicans for elective office before but your party has made it plain that they are more interested in costing the President a second term than in doing the will of the PEOPLE. We don't mind doing so, we've had to for the past few years because of pay freezes. We can't cut back anymore. We fear that we could lose our home if he doesn't find work before his unemployment stops. I am a social worker and therefore can't support a family of 5, we just don't make enough! Senator Portman -- Our economy is in a shambles, thanks to your Wall Street buddies. We need jobs now. People in this area of Ohio are really struggling. How can you defend NOT voting for this bill??? Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mrs. Sylvia Schelkers

Do you not worry about the safety of the road you drive on? Or the bridges and overpasses? That perhaps you or one of your family members will be driving down over a bridge or overpass, or under an overpass and it will collapse? If it happens to someone else and people die it is of no consequence to you. It's sad but all is well because it didn't affect your family. Also, it is so nice that you and your fellow politicians enjoy the benefits of a good job with benefits, thanks to those that VOTED for you. Too bad you don't remember that many of them have no jobs, no medical insurance, perhaps, now no home. But you enjoy your job, your nice warm home, the good meals you eat every night and don't give a second thought to all those who voted to put you in that job who have to scrape by to house, clothe and feed their families. May God bless THEM the way you have been blessed. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Not by my choice but by BIG BUSINESS restructoring. I have been out of work since April of this year from a major bank. Yes, I'm sure the bill wasn't perfect, but what is perfect? I have a family to support. A home to pay for. NO, I wasn't out spending what I don't have. Both cars are paid in full. Old but serviceable. As an Ohioan, I am ashamed that we have voters in our State who aren't rich but continue to vote for politicans who have no shame in legislating social issues but have no regard or concern for the economic health of Ohio or the United States. When these politicans say we aren't voting in favor of infastructure projects, we aren't voting to put people to work because it's political, I say of course, it's political. Isn't everything? Dear Sir I am an almost 74 year old senior citizen who is very disappointed that you choose to work for Grover Norquist instead of the citizens of the State of Ohio who voted you into office on the platform of creating jobs. So far, you have done nothing but obstruct the President of this country in his agenda for getting people back to work. I don't believe you are working in the interest of the people of this country but in your own agenda whch is to unseat the black man who is in the White House. At this time I truly believe that you are a racist and you don't really care about the minority nor poor people in this country. You have your millions and you really care less about those less fortunate than you and your rich cronies. It's about time that you and the other millionaires in Congress start listening to the people of this country. You can be sure if you continue to stonewall and obstruct what the people want I for one will not be voting for you nor any of your cronies in the next election . And if your old cronies don't like it or heaven forbid fail to make make an obscene profit from it, tough! Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. Michael Lees
Mr. Bob Wrobel 975 Winchester Oval Seven Hills, OH 44131-2915 (216) 524-3567 Oct 14, 2011 Senator Robert Portman Russell Senate Office Building, Room 338 Constitution and Delaware Avenues, NE Washington, DC 20510-3506 Subject: Sen. Please remember that the approval rating for Congress is even lower than that of Presidant Obama. I fear that you and your colleagues are simply not up to the task of solving the problems the American people face - or is it that you just don't care about us? Please show me that you are worth voting for when you are up for re-election. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. Bob Wrobel
