r Regis Catholic Schools community, The Regis Catholic Schools (RCS) Teaching and Learning Plan is designed to help RCS improve curriculum, student programs, faculty and staff development opportunities, and system communications. We are grateful for the generous volunteers parents, staff, administration, and friends of RCS - that gave freely of their time and experiences to help develop our Teaching and Learning Plan. The Teaching and Learning Plan and committee structures have been created to help determine and support the goals and actions identified as key outcomes from last summers public sessions. Thank you to all who applied to be a part of these collaborative committees. There are four committees determined by the Teaching and Learning Plan. The Steering Committee is the oversight committee for the plan and committee efforts. The overall goal of the Teaching and Learning Steering Committee is to assist Regis Catholic Schools in generating goals, actions, measurements, and results of success that will positively impact all RCS PreK-12 students and classrooms. This committee is a blend of different backgrounds, experience, and educational knowledge. The membership on the Steering Committee is as follows: Erika Johnson RCS Elementary Principal and Co-Chair Melody Brennan Parent and Co- Chair Joe Eisenhuth RCS President & Chief Advancement Officer John Cook RCS IT Coordinator Chuck Larson Grandparent and RCS Commission Member Cheryl Hanson RCS Faculty Ruth McHorney RCS Faculty Angela Axelrod Parent Jackie Bachmeier Parent Michelle Wampler Parent
The responsibilities of this Steering Committee include: monitoring the Advanced Ed. System Accreditation process and standards, overseeing the work of three advisory committees - Curriculum & Instruction, Professional Development, and Marketing & Communication, coordinate goals and actions with Diocesan policies and rules, determining decision making criteria, and implementing achievement standards.
Successful internal and external public engagement is best served with an established model that promotes pro-active planning. The Steering Committee will have the first group meeting on Wednesday, November 9th. This first meeting will set rules and guidelines for how each committee will post minutes, give updates, plan future meetings, and communicate with all RCS stakeholders. In addition, as part of the Teaching and Learning Plan, RCS Math teachers and administrators met with facilitator Dr. Linda Nortier during the October staff development in-service to work on creating a more unified K-12 Math Curriculum and planning for integrated use of the Common Core Standards. It was inspiring to see our RCS educators working together on a common goal. The level of care and dedication for all RCS students was very evident during this staff development training. United with our Core Values of living Faith, accepting Responsibility, promoting Teamwork, achieving Excellence, and inspiring Leadership, we continue to collaborate with a growing sense of shared responsibility throughout our Regis Catholic Schools community. Whether it is your prayers, spirit of volunteerism, words in support of our Catholic schools, or your generous donations each of us has the ability to help shape the future of Regis Catholic Schools. We look forward to the great work we will do together this year and the lasting positive effect that it will have on all RCS classrooms. God Bless,
Joe Eisenhuth, Ruth McHorney, John Cook, Michelle Wampler, Chuck Larson, Jackie Bachmeier, Cheryl Hanson, Angela Axelrod
