This Week in Grade 8


Welcome back! I hope everyone ha a relaxing vacation. Everyone is getting back into the swing of the school routine now!

Next week, either Monday or Tuesday (depending on class block) students will have a Map Quiz on the Middle East/North Africa. SCIENCE The Transformation unit began this week in Science as well. Students will be looking at simple machines, participating in lab experiments - building a pendulum, collecting data, etc. MATH The Geometry unit continued this week with the focus on lines, rays, segments and planes -

analyzing how they intersect with one another in various situations.

ENGLISH This week the focus in English class was on poetry and choosing a poet or songwriter for their performance task. They will be analyzing a song or poem and identifying how it is Transformational. This is a long term project and will be worked on over the next few weeks. SOCIAL STUDIES Students continued working on their maps of the Middle East and North Africa. As well, they have begun discussing the new unit (Transformation) specically looking at Revolutions and
