POSITION DESCRIPTION Project Development & Evaluation Student Coordinator

HandsOn Kansas State is a program of the School of Leadership Studies and is affiliated with the HandsOn Network and Points of Light Institute. HOKS engages students, youth, faculty and community members in service activities and civic engagement opportunities to enhance social responsibility, citizenship and community involvement. HOKS is student-led and mobilizes over 1500 volunteers annually. The action center staff includes one Assistant Project Director and Student Program Coordinators who oversee the Get HandsOn Initiatives. These initiatives are HandsOn Leaders (leadership and service development) and HandsOn Projects (project development and implementation). Project Development and Evaluation Student Coordinator Develop campus and community service projects that address local community needs; create and maintain the HandsOn Project calendar (HandsOn Connect); establish and promote connections with local non-profit and social service organizations; create and distribute Weekly Volunteer Opportunities; provide presentations to campus and community organizations about project development; correspond and maintain relations with campus and community partners in service; collaborate with Volunteer Leadership and Administration with volunteer registration, management and service outcomes. Qualifications Student in good standing at Kansas State University Knowledge and experience in collaborative decision making and leadership Interest in national and community service, civic engagement and non-profit leadership Preferred qualifications: community service experience and participated in HOKS service activities Benefits Acquire skills in specified areas such as database management, campus/community collaboration, public relations, marketing, volunteer management training and facilitation, resource and fund development. Professional networking Professional development and training opportunities Time Commitment and Work Hours Minimum two semesters 15 hours/week Primarily M-F with some weekends and evening based on campus/community service activities Must be available to work starting January 9, 2012.
