There is no hope of doing perfect research (Griffiths, 1998, pg97)

Research is a work that involves studying something and trying to discover facts about it as coined by BBC English dictionary. Research instigates the quest to know the unknown; it brings into limelight the intriguing aspects that could be beneficial and could also cause debacle at the same time to the masses. The word research implies exploring the established as well as new facts. The technology, health, education and economy status of today differs from the past due to research. The desire for more and better always prevails in man and also relishes that his/her names resound after s/he departs for the heavenly abode. As per Griffiths view point, the idea of perfect research cannot be inferred. Had it been opposite to this established fact, we would not have been able to find out the environmental manipulations being carried out across the globe which are causing detrimental impacts to the life on the planet earth. Windmills, solar panels and tidal waves energy are the renewable source of energies which would been remained undiscovered if the research was to be perfect. Improper sanitation and hygiene practices in the open have been abruptly altered. The fact that nutrients from animal and human excreta have considerable amount of nutrients which can be recycled has been established to cater the needs of the food safety for our future generations. Growing up, we have seen elders using mud pots for storing water. Today research has proven that soil as well as various other techniques can efficiently treat the wastewater. Microbes have been channelized to a beneficial outcome in industries apart from their disease causing nature.

Biotechnology has led to much critical advancement which made the life of humans more secured. Research has a pivotal role in addressing the issues of a society. I had the opportunity to be part of one such program which catered the solid waste management of the nearby area as a pilot project. The project was aimed at studying the current practices of waste disposal, waste

characteristics and peoples mindset about waste handling. Solid waste created nuisance for the burgeoning community due to settlements caused by various events from other parts of the country. Solid waste management practices are streamlined and given due importance in developed countries; however the less developed countries are inundated with many other basic issues leaving behind the importance of solid waste management and other environmental concerns. The research project concluded that the availability of the resources, improper use of the available resources, lack of professionals and awareness among the masses creates the gulf between proper disposals of solid waste. The reluctance and adamant approach of people cannot be ignored as well in cooperating with the officials handling waste and presenting their waste as sample in order to find the composition of the waste. The project illustrated that research brings about the change necessary for the community to prevail safe and healthy. Poverty and well being were articulated by Amartya sen in 1987, prior to his research well being was primarily based on command over commodities, those who had considerable hold over commodities were considered well-off and poor were those who had no access. Capability approach as coined by Amartya sen focused on plurality of well being dimensions, relationships among them and hence giving a new and clear meaning to the poverty, deprivation and inequality.

According to Amartya sen, Commodities are no more means to other ends. Income and consumptions were the rough measures of the quality of life; both cannot describe what people can really achieve with it. Therefore, poverty arises when people lack key capabilities. Also, Poverty and well being must be analyzed in terms of capability or freedom people have to achieve various attributes at any point in their life. Eat less and live longer is known for some time now, primarily it involved curbing the diet without compromising the vitamins and minerals, resulting in the slowing down of the ageing process and lengthens life span. This fact had been established for monkeys, rats, fish and even for microorganisms such as fungi, however its effect on humans were unknown. Department of cell and molecular biology in university of Gothenburg, under the supervision of professor Mikael Molin along with other colleagues have found out that Enzyme (peroxiredoxin 1), (prx 1) removes harmful hydrogen peroxide in the cells of our body. It degrades during ageing process, making it less effective in removing the detrimental impacts of hydrogen peroxide. Impaired function of this enzyme can lead to cancer and some genetic imperfection. Another enzyme Srx1 is present which repairs the degraded enzyme Prx1. During the research it was found that the restriction in diet could increase the concentration of the repair enzyme Srx1, thereby increasing life spans. Research is integral for societies, culture and humans to prevail and improve continuously. A perfect research can inhibit the scope of a creative and imaginative thought. Research has always rendered humans with interesting revelation. Humans have always pondered and focused on research intrinsically and will continue to do so. Hence, there is no hope in doing a perfect research.
