Sosnowski Works With Illinois State Police To Fight Medicaid Fraud

Rockford, IL State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Belvidere/Rockford) applauds the efforts of the Illinois State Police's Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau in their recent Rockford area arrests of individuals who have allegedly defrauded the Illinois Department of Human Services' Home Assistance program. This issue is vital to my district, as five of these six individuals performed fraud in the Rockford area, and are potentially responsible for defrauding the State of over $40,000, said Sosnowski. Representative Sosnowski is working proactively with the Illinois State Police to draft legislation that would help stop fraud before it can happen. I am committed to streamlining the DORS program and eliminating opportunities for fraud, said Sosnowski. This kind of crime not only robs a revenue-starved Illinois and its taxpayers, but it also denies care-dependent individuals the quality care they are meant to receive through this program. Personal assistants are hired through DORS to help disabled or elderly individuals with routine daily needs. As we can see from the Illinois State Police press release, some assistants have taken advantage of the loopholes that exist in this program, said Sosnowski.
