In choosing law as a profession, the things that worried me most were the intangibles. After a few weeks interning at the Davidson County Criminal Court under Judge Watkins, I was more confident than ever that law was the profession for me. Spending six weeks observing the real work that goes into making our justice system function, as well as hearing the stories of both criminals and victims, gave me the experiential knowledge I needed to make an informed decision about dedicating decades of my life to pursuing law as a profession. In addition, I was able to have constructive discussions with many accomplished members of the Tennessee legal community. This experience would have been impossible without the material support of Fisk Universitys excellent career services office.
