ADAPTIVE REGENERATIVE SHOCKER

INTRODUCTION:

Only 10-16% of the fuel energy is used to drive the vehicle (to overcome the resistance from road a friction and air drag which actually transport the vehicle forward). The rest is lost dues to breaking vibration energy dissipation, exhaust heat and other inefficiency. To harvest this lost energy the shock absorber is designed such that it converts kinetic energy between wheels and sprung mass into useful electric power.

PRINCIPLE:

In the usual shock absorber the energy goes to viscous drag of oil which ultimately heat up the oil and dissipated as waste to the atmosphere. In our case this energy is used to charge the battery, which can later be used for other purposes. The torque is generated when the current developed by the generator gets into the load (battery or heater). This electrical load gives resistance because the battery has variable resistance when it will be given more power from the generator. It will give more resistance and the torque increases. As more power is consumed by the load, hence making is adaptive regenerative shocker.

CONSTRUCTION:

It consists of RACK mashing with two diametrically opposite PINIONS. These PINIONS with other gear increasing mechanism is attached to a generator. The output from the generator will be of changing polarity as RACK moves up and down so a rectifier will be used to make this unidirectional, This will also prevent the battery from running the generator as motor (diode does

WORKING:

As the vehicle moves over the shocks the RACK goes up and down. The RACK is in constant mash to the two diametrically opposite PINIONS which rotates the PINIONS while going up and down. The PINIONS with the gear increasing mechanism rotates the generator. The generator produces the current and transfers it to the battery after passing through suitable circuits.

More mileage will result in more saving and hence upliftment.

We could recover 100 percent of the energy wasted by shocks, which would result in increase fuel efficiency in heavy vehicles on bumpy roads by up to 10 percent, which is indeed a very big amount.

RESULT:

When installed in a medium size passenger car travelling at 60-70 kmph the shock absorber can generate 200-300 watts of energy under normal driving condition which gets triples during off road condition. This improves the vehicle fuel efficiency substantially.
