Introduction On 6th October of 2011 we went to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kangkar Pulai as our visiting on Science Laboratory.

First of all, we met the school principle Mr Chuah Chong Hooi. He introduced the Head of Chemistry Panel Puan Norliah Bt Md Yassin to guide us. She guided us for the whole session of our visit. From her, we knew that the school has 6 labs. Out of 6 labs, two are Biology Labs, two are Chemistry Labs and two are Physic Labs. Once we entered the Chemistry Lab, we were welcomed by Lab Assistant in charge Puan Salmah Bt Abdul Kadir. The labs look very clean and tidy. That proves that the labs well organized by the Chemistry Panel.Beside these, we were very happy and excited with the environment of the labs. All the labs was decorated with beautiful poster and slogans that robbed our eyes. Specifically we can say that the way they expose the lab rules to the students via colorful posters attracted us. Report Since year 2004, the lab of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kangkar Pulai was build with a design that the ministry of education had propose. The school structure was very new and still in good condition. The schools lab structure is also still new and in a good condition. To make sure that the laboratory in the high level of safety, inspector from the government will come and check unpredictable.So after we evaluate the schools lab, we noticed that must have an improvement and development from many aspects. For the safety aspect, we look to the safety tool that must have to improve or develop. Their labs still have a lack of safety tool like a fire blanket that not provided yet by the school. It is an important tool if any accidents happen and the treatment of will get immediately. So, our suggestion the safety tool like that must have to provide and improve to the lab with consider to the student and teachers safety. Furthermore, by information we got we notice that the teachers not monitor the student during an experiment. This is not attitude that should have in each of teachers.

There might be a situation that the teachers should help their student. We suggest that teacher should work as a facilitator to guide the students during the experiment. From other aspect, the lab also lack of important items to make the lab such as the microscope cupboard. We consider to the labs tool or reagent that we can categories a reactive. This reactive reagent must to keep in safety place. The tool that we can categories as sensitive also has to keep in safety place. Our suggestion is an important item like this must have to provide immediately. Beside that, the lab has no attraction. Without an attraction the student might be not have a spirit to learn something. We notice that their lab assistant still in progress to make a cheeriness to their lab. With a cheeriness that their make, the lab will have an attraction and student can get info and spirit from their types of cheeriness. Our suggestion is the lab assistant should have to make improvement of laboratory cheeriness. In other aspect of management, the lab has a lack of staff by that consists of laboratory assistant. This is because they have about six labs to counter and care. Four assistant is also quite enough to counter many aspect of lab care. So we suggest that the school must provided about six lab assistant to make the lab assistant feel comfortable and not feel it is a burden the take care of many lab. While we were in this school, we have distributed a questionnaire to check a student understanding about the management and the safety of their schools laboratory. We noticed that some of the students still do not understand well about the management and the safety of the laboratory. Our suggestion to the school should hold a seminar about the safety and management for students and teachers. Even that we have heard about every year before the teacher and student started their session, they have told about the management and the safety of laboratory but student still not understand about that. For our opinion, the student might be forgotten about that.

From our observation, we know that the labs are still new. The facilities, safety tool and the other thing still new and they keep that in a good condition. Three years to complete the entire thing in the lab is impossible because the procedure to get the thing take a long time. Even that we cannot take an easy about the safety of the laboratory because student and teacher safety is most important. The management of school should make an attention about that. From this observation also we get information about how the management is working. This information is important as we prepared to teaching in future. Because we also should know about the management not just know how to teach. We hope that this school should make improvement and development as good as we suggest. All is about to take care students and teachers safety because they all is the backbone of school. Without the teacher, who are the student and without the student, who are the teacher? It means the teacher and student is important. Excellent teacher will produce a brilliant student then make the school are glorious. As a conclusion, this visit benefit us. The experiences that we gained through this visit really had improved our knowledge and skills on organize science laboratory and safety management. We hope this will help us in our career as a teacher.
