CASE ANALYSIS INTERVIEW AT MUMBAI

1. Problem:According to my opinion the problem in this case is mainly due to the following reason:As it was been late evening when the person came to know about the interview. So it was became a problem to the person how to reach Mumbai and attend the interview on time.

2. Boundary limits:1. As there was no postponement of the date or the time would be possible. 2. It was the last opportunity to him to attend the interview. 3. He would attend the interview on the following morning at 11a.m. 3. Case:As the person who was seeking for the job came late to the home. On his arrival he saw a telegram informing that an important interview has been fixed for you at Mumbai the following morning at 11a.m.As the interview was postponed earlier due to your sickness now there is no further postponement. So, it was your last opportunity. In a flash you remember, that you were fortunate to have cashed enough money from the bank that morning, otherwise you would have been in serious trouble. As the telegram also contain the information regarding all the transport facilities which were available to reach Mumbai and attend the interview at correct time.

4. Assumptions:As there was no postponement of the date or the time of the interview. If he could not attend the meeting in time he would loss the last opportunity which was given to him by the company. 5. Possible solutions & their evaluation:Sol 1:As there was number of trains between Mumbai and pune (where he was) so by catching any of the train he could attend the interview. According to the table there are 3 trains mentioned. One is passenger, second one is express and third one is super fast.

Firstly we consider the superfast. It will go fast but the fare is high for the first class even seats available. But the fair is less to the second class and the availability of seats is difficulty. All of this departure time of the train was 7:20 and arrival time was 10:05.As the place of interview was 5km from the railway station he could not attend the interview at the right time. Secondly we consider the express. As departure time of the train was 6:30 and arrival time was 10:40.so there was no chance to attend the interview at the right time. Finally we consider the passenger. As departure time of the train was 11:30 and time was 5:45.so that he can attend the interview at the right time.

Merits:1. He could reach Mumbai before the prescribed time. 2. Train journey was comfortable. 3. Time for preparation.

Demerits:1. He does not have any relation at Mumbai. 2. He had to check the train timings correct or not. If the timings are wrong he would miss the interview.

Sol 2:Second solution was going in bus. As the buses run from pune to Mumbai throughout the day and night after every half an hour, except between midnight and 04:00 hrs.Travelling time was 4 hours and 45 minutes.

Merits:1. It was a deluxe bus. 2. Fare was less. 3. Can reach in time.

Demerits:1. Bus journey was not comfortable. 2. Traffic problems may arise. 3. No time for preparation.

Sol 3:Third solution was going in shared taxi. Travelling time was 4hrs 15minutes. Fare per head is Rs 160.

Merits:1. Can reach in time. 2. Fare was less.

Demerits:1. Traffic problems may arise. 2. No time for preparation. 3. Journey was not comfortable. 4. Starts whenever four passengers are available. 5. Does not happen between midnight and 05:30 hrs. Sol 4:Fourth solution was going in flight. In case there are no alternatives he should go in flight.

Merits:1. Journey was comfortable. 2. Time for preparation. 3. Can reach in time. Demerits:1. Fare was more. 2. If there is any delay of the flight.

6. Relative evaluation & selection of the best solution:Relative merits/demerits:-

Merits:1. He could reach Mumbai before the prescribed time. 2. Train journey was comfortable. 3. Time for preparation.
