Clarifier

Type S Clarifier in a wastewater treatment facility. A tank-contained unit designed for the continuous, mechanical removal of settleable solids from wastewater. General Description
The Clarifier is a continuously operating, mechanically cleaned sedimentation device. Feed is piped into a central, semi-submerged influent well. Feed flows down and then outward to the periphery of the tank where effluent is collected in a continuous peripheral launder. Settled solids are raked toward the center of the tank and into a discharge sump. Floating scum is removed by a skimmer mechanism. GL&V/Dorr-Oliver Advantages

A century of experience in
liquid/solids separation. Wide choice of drive mechanisms owing to component design. Superior flow distribution and detention efficiency increases hydraulic performance. Economical component design lowers installation cost. Drives to over 2 million ft. lbs.

Center shaft, bridge-supported unit designed for side pipe feed and peripheral overflow. The center drive mechanism rotates two rake arms mounted on the lower end of a vertical shaft. Rake blades move sludge on tank bottom to discharge sump at the center of the tank. Skimmer moves floating material to a peripheral scum trough. The bridge spans the tank and supports the drive unit, rake mechanism, and influent well. Walkway provides easy access to center drive mechanism. Drive Options Industry standard cast iron housing and gear with replaceable bearing liners. Four point contact bearing with low maintenance intermediate planetary reducer and state of the art hydraulic primary reduction unit. Lift mechanisms for bridge or column supported drives. Dual concentric drive for special flocculation or solids contact applications. Skimmer Options Ducking Skimmer/Rotating Weir. Anti-Rotation Baffle. Influent Well Skimming. Full Radius Scum Trough.

The center column unit is designed for bottom center feed and peripheral overflow. The center drive mechanism rotates a center cage supporting two rake arms. Feed enters from bottom of tank through the center column and goes into the clarifier through ports in the column. The influent well prevents shortcircuiting and directs the flow downward radially and to the periphery of the tank where it is collected in a continuous circular launder. Settled solids are raked toward the center of the tank to the sludge pocket for discharge. Skimmer supported from one rake arm moves floating material to the peripheral scum trough. A walkway extending from the periphery of the tank to the center pier provides access for inspection and lubrication of the drive.
