About the programme

This two day seminar on MODEM Design and Adaptive Algorithms for Communication Systems is proposed as a continuation of the 6 day workshop on DSP applications in communication systems conducted by PSG in 2009 January with Prof. fredric j harris as the resource person. During the last programme, the participants from NPOL, DRDL, BARC, BEL, CDAC etc. expressed that his lecture and practical demonstrations were very handy to adapt many of their ongoing projects. The topics are appropriately designed for communication system engineers, programmers, implementers and managers who need to understand current practice and next generation DSP techniques for modems embedded in upcoming communication systems. DSP has changed the way we implement the physical layer of a communication system. DSP techniques are more than the mapping of legacy analog designs to a DSP implementation engine. To avoid compromise solution appropriate for an earlier time period, we return to first principles to learn how to apply new technology capabilities to the design of next generation communication systems.
