STORY OF KRISHNA

Thousands of years ago, Mathura was a famous city of North India. It was built by Madhu, who was an Asura. The Asuras were giants in looks and physical strength; but many of them were lovers of beauty.

The city, on the banks of the Yamuna, was dotted with gardens parks, temples, and inns for wayfarers. People went about their chores in peace.

Ugrasen, a descendant of Madhu, was a kindhearted ruler; he always thought of the welfare of his people.

Your majesty, the people are happy and have only praise for you. Mantriji, Im pleased to hear that.

Yasoda and Rohini found it difficult to control their sons. I never thought they would be so naughty!

Let me help myself to another scoop before Ma comes!

What divine music!

Whos that?

It was none other than Krishna. He was no longer the naughty boy that he used to be.

This is bliss!

Radha, lets run home!

My son, its time we held a yaga to worship Indra. Nandagopa told him all about the King of Gods, who has the power over rain and thunder.

Indra? Whos he?

But who gave him such authority?

Nandagopa then told Krishna about the fourteen worlds that make up the universe and those who have given the powers to Indra.

In that case, we should perform the yaga for them, and not Indra!

Nandagopa fell silent. He had no answer to Krishnas question.

Krishna, from time immemorial, it has been Lord Indra whom we have been worshipping.

We discarded our village Gokul and came to Vrindavan. Similarly cant we do away with this old practice?
