Project: Audio Editing/Podcasting


Create an audio file: duration no longer than of 3-4 mins. These are to be in the format of a radio show. The finished products will be uploaded to the internet as a podcast. You must record your own audio. Audio should be saved in MP3 format Audio files will consist of interviews using the theme of: information technology in your school You may include short music clips of no more than a few seconds to introduce interviews. This is a group task. Each group member should have a clearly defined set of tasks

Section 1. Planning/Documentation

1 a) Project Plan: outline WHO, WHAT, and HOW. Create a plan about the management of the task; who will do what jobs and how will they do them. 1 b) Create a Gantt Chart outlining tasks and timeframe for this part of the project. 1 c) Create a storyboard which outlines the progression of scenes in each audio recording. Use a linear structure. Storyboards must be computer generated. Label important elements in the sequence and approximate durations. Section 2. Interview 2 a) Interview Topic/Questions: The role of information technology in our school Any topic within this theme is allowed. Clearly include your topic at the top of your interview questions. Interview a teacher and a student (at the same time) Write and plan interview questions prior to the interview Each student is to write at least 2 interview questions Each student is to ask at least 2 questions during the interview Include a copy of your interview questions in your documentation folder

2 b) Contribution Outline: Each student is to write a 250 word outline of the contributions they made to the group. (About a paragraph) Print Section 1 and 2 and submit in an A4 folder. Include a title page (project title, your name, class, teacher, date due) headers/footers, auto numbered pages, clear headings/subheadings. Submit written work in an A4 folder with plastic sleeves.

Section 3 Implementation

Create an MP3 audio file of your interview. Incorporate the following features in your MP3: A. Fade in/fade out effects B. Reverb C. Normalise and EQ

3 a) Audio File each group member is to create a separate MP3 file based on the interview topic. *Each student in the group is to produce at least 1 interview and at least 1 audio file (MP3) 3 b) Blog outline write an outline of your podcast (what is it about?). This text will be included in the blog post.

3 c) Audio Presentation: your podcasts will be awarded extra marks based on the amount of thought and care you have put into the production. Are the questions relevant to the topic? Does the sequence of audio events flow well? In other words, have you done your best?
