Whilst in this spiritual mood Imam Sahib says, "I was in such a stage where I could see the Angels, very quickly I entered a garden which was glittering with light flashes, and Angels were engrossed in Tasbeeh and Tamheed (zikr) of the Supreme Creator Allah Subhaanahu Wa'Ta'Allah. There was the presence of the "Arwah" (spirits) of the blessed ones of Allah. After which I met Hazrat Anas Bin Maalik the beloved Nabi Muhammad is waiting for me. states that a few days after his marriage Umul Mo'mineen Hazrat Fatima Zahra came in and Hussain , Allah has blessed me with you and Ali Ahmad . Prior to the birth of hazrat Saabir

who will emerge from the house of Abdul Wahab Abdur Raheem

Paak his mother witnessed a few strange happenings in the hujra (room) where Hazrat Saabir Paak's mother should reside. There was the presence of enlightened clouds which used to spread over her room. She used to see strange lightings in her room together with beautiful fragrances. She also witnessed a red light shining on various parts of her body example, naval, upper back and right shoulder. Hazrat Saabir Paak was born on the 19th of Rabi-ul-Awwal 592 at the time of Tahajudd.

MIRACLES AFTER BIRTH Hazrat Saabir Paak immediately after birth turned his head towards the Kaaba. When Mussama Basri Bint Haashim the

, her hands began to shiver and it ran through her entire body. When the nurse, wanted to bath the baby, Ali Ahmad Saabir mother saw this she said to the nurse, "Maybe you are not in the state of wudu and don't you know that this is the offspring of the family of Sayyiduna Ghousal Azam. " After performing wudu (ablution) the state of shiver stopped. The child was given a

birth. Even after Hazrat Saabir Paak's birth, red light s used to shine from the skies and fragrances adorned the house which eventually spread throughout the entire city. After Zohar Salaah the Arwah (spirits) of Abdaal and Aqthaab visited the baby Ali Ahmad Saabir kissed the forehead of baby Ali Ahmad Saabir Muhammad Abul Qasim Gargaani and these great Arwah

. During that time there was this very famous saint known as Hazrath

. This saint took the message of glad tidings to the father of Ali Ahmad

. His father was overjoyed and overcome with happiness. He carried the baby Ali Ahmad Saabir in his lap, Saabir kissed his forehead and said, "This child will be a very saintly person from who the many masses will achieve blessings and deliverance. He will be a spiritual guide with strange significance."

REASON FOR THE NAME ALI AHMAD SAABIR When Hazrat Saabir Paak Nabi . The Beloved Nabi was still in his blessed mothers womb, his mother had the honour of the Ziyarat of the Beloved said to his mother, "The child that you are going to conceive, must be named Ahmad". After a

few days the mother is honoured again with the ziyarat of Hazrat Ali who said to Hazrat Saabir Paak's mother, "The child must be named Ali". Subsequently after his birth he was named Ali Ahmad. He was also given the title of "Makhdoom" and "Saabir".

REASON FOR THE TITLES MAKHDOOM AND SAABIR It is recorded in Seerul Aqthaab on page 178, that the title of Makhdoom was from Allah Subhaanahu Wa Taala. The title of Saabir was from his Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Baba Fareed Ganje Shakar . The title of Saabir was earned when Hazrat Saabir

was brought by his mother from his place of birth, Heraat to her brother Hazrat Baba Fareed Ganje Shakar Paak whilst under the spititual supervision of his great uncle. mother He was given the responsibility of distributing the langar(food). After twelve years when Hazrat Saabir Paak's returned, she found her son thin and weak. She immediately complained to her brother, "You have not given my child good food to was very astonished by this complaint and said, "In your presence I gave him the responsibility of eat". Hazrat Baba Fareed the langar and upto this very moment he distributes the langar, therefore he should not have a problem with regards to food. On second thought if you have a doubt call your son in my presence and clarify it with him so that you may find comfort and peace". Hazrat Baba Fareed Ganje Shakar asked his nephew about the langar. Hazrat Saabir Paak replied, "I was only

given the responsibility of distributing the langar and not to eat". When Hazrat Baba Fareed heard this, he was overcome with amazement and happiness for this is the reason that Allah Subhaanahu Wa Taala has enriched his nephew with the wealth of Sabr (patience) because he lived without meals for twelve years. Hazrat Baba Fareed kissed his forehead and said, "This is Alauddin Ali Ahmad Saabir". From that day forth he

was also known as Alauddin. He earned this became famous with the name Saabir. Simultaneously Hazrat Saabir Paak title when he was a little baby by a very pious saint who had come to see the miraculous baby. The great saint carried the baby and said to his mother, "Your son will be known as Alauddin".

EARLY LIFE From childhood Hazrat Saabir Paak displayed patience of the highest order. His mother was astonished and amazed at

this because, until he was one year old he drank milk one day and the next day he did not drink milk. Hazrat Saabir Paak kept fast on the day that he did nor drink milk. When he was one year old he used to drink milk every third day in return he used to fast for two days. When he was two years old he stopped drinking milk. At three years old he used to eat chana (whole gram) and wheat bread very lightly. At the age of four he began talking and the very first words that he uttered was "LA MAUJOODA ILLALLAH". When he turned six years of age he restricted his eating limits by eating on the fourth and fifth day. He used to eat simple dry bread on these respective days. The major parts of the night was spent in Ibadat (worship). At the age of seven he began reading Tahajjud salaah regularly. He was always engrossed in Ibadat.

MIRACLES AT CHILDHOOD As reported by hazrat Saabir Paak's father, that this strange incident occurred in the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. Hazrat

Saabir Paak's father was in deep concentration and meditation (muraqba). After muraqba when he opened his eyes he saw a snake in two pieces, one piece fell where Hazrat and his father were seated and the other piece fell on the

floor. Immediately Hazrat Abdar Rahim

awoke his wife, Hazrat Saabir Paak's

mother and showed her the snake in

made two pieces. When she saw this she reported that whilst in her sleep she had a dream in which Hazrat Saabir Paak this firm statement, "As from today no person from my family will be bitten by a snake. I have killed the king of the snakes upon which all the snakes of the world have promised not to bite any member of my family". mother that It is also recorded by Hazrath Hajra who was commonly known as Jameela Khatoon, Hazrath Saabir Paak's one day Hazrath was very hungry and due to the pangs of hunger he asked his mother for food. Unfortunately there was nothing at home with which a meal could be prepared. In order to comfort and please her son, she placed a pot of water on the fireplace. When Hazrat Asked for the food, she would say the food is nor ready. Subsequently the entire day was spent in this manner. After Maghrib Salaah Hazrath said to his mother that, " If the food is still not cooked, give it to me uncooked". After saying this he personally went to the fireplace lifted the lid of the pot and said to his mother, "The rice is cooked". When the mother heard this she was shocked and astonished because she had placed an empty pot on the fireplace. Together the father, mother and son enjoyed the rice which was full of taste and aroma.

, dated 15 Zil Haj 650A.H. After 16 days of journey they reached Kalyar and resided in the house of a lady named Abdal Gulzari. Kalyar was a very big city with a high population and there were Ulama and Mashaikh in great numbers. After setting his mubarak foot in Kalyar, he lectured to a crowd of two thousand people in the Jamia Masjid after salaatul asr. Shaikh Bahauddin and Shaikh Jamaluddin were most impressed with Hazrath's words were most impressed with Hazrat's words of wisdom that they began inviting and reminding the people of Kalyar, of the great opportunity of having a personality in the name of Hazrat Saabir Paak. They also urged the people to become mureeds (disciples) of Hazrath Saabir

. The next morning after salaatul fajr Hazrat spoke to the people but they refused to accept him as their leader and Paak guide and they said that their leader and guide was the ruler of the city named Qazi Tabarak. When Qazi Tabarak heard of Hazraths presence in Kalyar he became worried of loosing his power and authority over the people. He planned to distract the chief of Kalyar named Qiyammuddin Zamwan and went up to the chief and complained about Hazrath Saabir Paak by saying, "A person has come to Kalyar who claims to be a very pious and holy man and call himself

the man odf the people. After prayers he lectures to the people and due to the presence the namaazi's are being disturbed. I think we should ask him to leave he city".

HAZRAT SAABIR PAAK MEETS THE CHIEF OF KALYAR he On a Friday Hazrath met Qiyaammudin Zamwan in the Jamia Masjid of Kalyar. In order to test Hazrath Saabir Paak, asked, "If you claim to be spiritual personality then give a hint of what happened to my goat which is missing for about three months from now. If I am satisfied whith your answer, I will then be one of you followers. Hence I will accept you as our leader". Hazrath Saabir Paak immediately understood that the chief wanted to test his spiritual influence and power. He complied to the question by raising his gaze towards the sky and declared that those who have eaten the flesh of the goat must come forward. . When they were asked about the goat, all Subsequently 27 people came in direct confrontation of Hazrath Saabir Paak refused in one voice about having nothing to do with the flesh or goat of Qiyaamuddin Zamwan. He then asked the chief to call his goat by its name and he called by the name Hareefa. The goat responded to its master's call from the stomachs of the twenty seven people and he declared, "I am here divided in the stomachs of each of these persons. The goat went on further and explained that they all had killed me at the middle of the night near the sadrak well and had thrown my hide and bones tied to a stone into the well after roasting and eating my flesh". With no point to argue the chief said, "Verily you are our guide and imam". When Tabrak saw that the chief was overwhelmed and , he got close to the chief and said, "Be careful this is taken aback by the miraculous demonstration of Hazrath Saabir Paak the work of a magician". Again the chief got entangled in the words of Tabrak and he also stated these are the effects of magic. Hazrath Saabir beloved Nabi then replied thankAllah Subhanahu Wa Ta'aala, this faqeer is also able to fulfill the sunnah of the

REPORT TO HAZRATH BABA SAHEB Hazrath Saabir Paak wrote two letters in which he gave his Pir-o-Murshid a comprehensive report of the conditions and

happenings of Kalyar. He also informed Hazrath Baba Saheb of the conspiracies of Qazi Tabrak and of how he, Tabrak and the chief of Kalyar, Qiyaamuddin are against him. These two letters were sent with Aleemullah Abdaal to Hazrath Baba Saheb .

HAZRATH BABA SAHEB'S REPLY On receiving Hazrath Saabir Paak's report, Hazrath Baba Saheb and Hadith. He then advised Aleemullah Abdaal to hand it to Qazi Tabrak. wrote a collective fatwa with references from Quran

He sent another letter together with the torn fatwa with Aleemullah Abdaal to be handed to his Murshid. When Hazrath Baba Saheb received the letter together with the torn fatwa, he then decided to write a letter directly to the chief of Kalyar elaborated on a few points about his disciple. He wrote and

In his letter to the chief of Kalyar, Hazrath Baba Saheb introduced Hazrath Saabir Paak

from a very spiritual point of view. Firstly he belonged to the family of Hazrath Ghouse

. He stressed that, "My Saabir was a true devotee of God". Secondly, he asked both Qazi Tabrak and Qiyaamuddin Azam Zamwan to forget about the misrepresentation that his disciple was a magician. Thirdly, he warned the chief about his assistant Qazi Tabrak that he should treat Hazrath Saabir Paak with more dignity and respect. If Qazi Tabrak disobeys Hazrath Saabir Paak then in sequence he is disobeying Allah and his Messenger. Hazrath Baba Saheb quoted this ayat of the Holy Quran, "Obedience to the Prophet is obedience to Allah". Hazrath Baba Saheb

repeatedly warned the chief that the punishment for such disobedience is terrible. Now to obey or not to obey was their responsibility.

THE CHIEF'S DISOBEDIENCE At first when the chief read the letter he was very impressed but very quickly he came under the evil spell of Tabrak. He wrote back to Hazrath Baba Saheb Saheb's saying to him, "We do not fear for any threats". He to like his companion tore Hazrath Baba . Aleemullah Abdaal took the torn letter and gave it to

letter and handed it to Aleemulah Abdaal

. He handled the matter with utmost patience and wrote back to his Pir-o-Murshid, the letter is as Hazrath Saabir Paak follows "As Salaamu Alaikum. My heart begins to tear apart when I see your glorious writing torn. This makes me go through a lot of suffering, pain and agony. In this place I do not even get a place to offer my Jummah Salaah in the Jamia Masjid. You definitely know my situation. Please get me out of this agonizing situation. Whatever instructions you convey to me, I will definitely obey. Khaadime Khaadimaa (servant of servants) Faqeer Ala'uddin"

HAZRAT BABA SAHEB'S REPLY After receiving the painful letter from his beloved, Hazrath Baba Saheb writes, "In your hands lies the dominion of power over the city so do as you please. By the grace of Allah nobody will challenge you. Kalyar is your goat, you can either drink its milk or eat its flesh".

DIVINE WRATH studied his Pir-o-Murshid's letter, he lifted his gaze towards the sky and then towards the When Hazrath Saabir Paak earth. He recited a few verses and blew towards the earth and sky. Suddenly there was an earth tremor. This tremor got stronger after an hour. When the earth rocked the third time, it sent a wave of panic and fear to the people of Kalyar. At that time the chief of Kalyar asked Qazi Tabrak the reason for the three tremors. The chief felt that it was maybe due to the anger of Hazrat Saabir Paak . He was prepared to meet Hazrath Saabir Paak but again he was stopped by Tabrak. The shrewd Tabrak instead suggested that they should go to the famous magician of the city who was a lady named Chugla Nusrath. After their meeting with Chugla Nusrath, they were informed by here that the tremors were the effects of magic. In order to satisfy the curiosity of the chief of Kalyar, she banged the earth whilst under a spell eleven times and the earth where they were seated moved.

DESTRUCTION OF KALYAR On Friday the 16th of Muharram 651A.H., Hazrath Saabir Paak went to the Jamia mosque for Jumaah Salaah. He sat in the

Hazrath came out of the masjid and sat for awhile, then he looked at the masjid and said, "You have left this people in peace". Opon uttering these words the roof of the mosque gave way and collapsed on the people in the mosque. SUFIISM:
OBEDIENCE AND ABSOLUTE FAITH IN ONE'S MURSHID Absolute obedience and complete faith in the murshid is the foundation upon which the success on the spiritual is built. One should at all times remain obedient to every command of the murshid because whatever the murshid commands, it is for the spiritual benefit of the mureed. Hazrat Nizamuddeen Aulia states, "Whatever the Shaykh commands his disciple to do, he must do it". We have heard of instances where the murshid commands something that seems unlawful and the disciple hesitates not knowing whether to do it or not." Explaining this dilemma he further states, "In every instance the murshid must be conversant with the laws of Sharia, Tariqat and Haqiqat. Since the Shaykh is fully aware, even if he commands something on which there exists a difference of legal opinion, that according to some it is lawful and to others it is not. The mureed must do what the Shaykh has commanded. Since the murshid must have reached his decision on sound judgment, even though there may be disagreements about what is the correct action, the mureed must carry out the command of his murshid". With regards to a mureed's firmness in faith in the murshid, Hazrat Nizamuddeen Aulia summoned Hazrat Badruddeen Ishaq says, "That once Hazrat Baba Farid

who was at that time engaged in prayers (namaaz). In the midst of his prayers was eating food when he

he replied in a loud voice, "Here I am". He further goes on to say that once the Holy Prophet summoned for one of his companions who at that time was engaged in prayer. When he delayed in coming the Holy Prophet Holy Prophet Nizammuddeen

asked, "Why did you not respond quickly?". He replied, "I was in prayer". The

then said, "When the Prophet of Allah calls you, you should answer immediately". After this Kwaja stated on his blessed lips, "The command of the murshid is like the command of the Prophet". From this .

one can gauge that by being disobedient to the murshid is in actual fact being disobedient to Allah and his Beloved Rasool

If a mureed is sincere, Allah's mercy does not deprive him of spiritual perfection even though the murshid may be imperfect. It is said that there have been many imperfect murshids who due to the sincerity of the mureeds become perfect. Hazrat Sayyid Abul Husain Ahmad-e-Noori Qadri Barkaati who is the pirbhai and teacher of A'la Hazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Khan and

who is the murshid of Hazrat Mufti Azam Hind Shah Mustafa Raza Khan states in his famous treatise on tasawwuf Sirajul Awarif that there was a man who searched constantly for a perfect murshid but he could not find one. One day due to frustration he declared, "By Allah! I will become the mureed of that person who comes to my house tonight". He sat up the entire night waiting for his murshid. That night a thief entered his house to steal. He was overjoyed and regarded the thief to be sent by Allah because of his dua. As the thief entered his house to steal he grabbed hold of his hand and cried, "O murshid make me your mureed". The thief was taken by surprise. He saw the man and became terrified. To get out of this difficult situation the thief mumbled some words and said, "I have made you my mureed". The man then said, "Give me some instructions so that I may devote myself to them". The thief who was ignorant about Tasawwuf but just to get out of the difficult situation said to the man, "Cut yourself off from your family and go into the jungles. There you should engage in the zikr of Allahu Allahu". The man immediately complied with the instruction and the thief was set free. Since the so called murshid was imperfect, the mureed could therefore not attain his goal. Allah ordered Hazrat Khizr (Alayhi Salaat tu Wasalaam) to rectify the thief and lead him to spiritual perfection who in turn can lead the sincere mureed towards Allah. The thief remained under the guidance of Hazrat Khizr (Alayhi Salaat tu Wasalaam) and no more remained a thief but became a Wali of Allah. He upon becoming perfect approached the mureed in the jungle and led him to the proximity of Allah. Khwaja Nizammudden Aulia states that once a person presented himself to Khwaja Ajall Shirazi and became his

to instruct him on various invocations and prayers to observe but mureed. The new mureed expected Khwaja Ajall Shirazi instead the murshid told him, "Whatever you do not find agreeable for yourself, do not wish it to happen to others. Wish for others and said to his what you wish for yourself". The man left and after a while presented himself in front of Khwaja Ajall Shirazi murshid, "On such and such a day I waited for you, hoping you may give me some prayer or invocation to recite but you told me nothing. Today I am also expectant". The murshid replied, "What were your instructions?" The mureed became silent and did not answer. The Kwaja smiled and said, "On that day I told you that whatever was not pleasing to you, was not pleasing to others and wish for others what you wish for yourself. You did not remember this first command. Since you have not learnt the first lesson, how can I give you another?" At times, doubts arise in the minds of mureeds, as to whether they will progress spiritually if their murshid is not a perfect (kamil) guide. One must understand that if one's murshid is not perfect, surely his master is perfect, and the masters in the chain (Silsila) are perfect, and therefore they will guide him, as long as one remains sincere to his murshid. One day, Hafiz Nematullah Multani was busy massaging the head of Hazrat Sultan Goolam Bahu , when a thought crossed his mind. He thought that those who become mureed receive guidance outwardly, but he wondered what will be their spiritual state Did they progress spiritually

or not? Immediately Shaikh Goolam Bahu

answered his thoughts and said, "O Nematullah, whoever puts his hand in my . Outwardly, it is only our name, but

Necessity of a Spiritual Guide

Naeem Khan Sabiree
One may ask, what is the need to take an oath of allegiance and join a Sufi Order and the company of the pious when one is born and brought up as a Muslim following the Quran and the teachings of Sayiduna Rasullallah (SAW) which is a guide to mankind and whatever the murshid will teach is from the Quran and Sunna? One must realize that it is very difficult for one on his own to understand the commands of the Quran therefore the commonfolk will consult with the Ulema regarding these issues. The Ulema would have not understood anything if the Mujtahid Imams of Islam (Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Sha'fee, Imam Hambal, Imam Malik (Radi Allahu Anhu) had not clarified aspects of the Sunnah and Fiqh. The Mujtahid Imams received guidance from a chain of teachers linking them to the Sahaba who in turn received guidance directly from Sayiduna Rasullallah (SAW). From this, one can deduce that the teaching of the Quran and Sunna has reached us via a chain of teachers from the time of Sayiduna Rasullallah (SAW). If it was not possible for one to understand the Islamic Law without the aid of a chain of teachers, how would it be possible for one to attain success on the mystical and spiritual path of Islam without the assistance of a guide? If one attempts to interpret the Quran and Sunna with his own limited knowledge, not taking guidance from the teachers, he will become amongst those who have gone astray. Hazrat Moulana Jalaluddeen Rumi (ra) explains this concept in his famous Mathnawi Shareef in which he says, "That once there were a group of men in India who had never seen an elephant. One day they came across an elephant in complete darkness and all of them began touching it. After a while they described what they thought they perceived and all of their descriptions were different. He who held the leg thought the elephant was a pillar. The one who held the ear, described the elephant to be a fan and so on. However, as far as accurately describing what they had come across, they all fell short. If only they had a candle there would be no difference of opinion and by the light of the candle they would have revealed the elephant as a whole". Allah commands in the Holy Quran, "You who believe! Be mindful of your duty to Allah and seek a means to approach him". (Sura Al Maida, verse 35) What is this means to approach Allah? Hazrat Sheik Abdul Qadir Jilani (ra) states in Ghunyatut Talibeen that a murshid is to be accepted as a link and a mediator between himself and his lord, and also as a method and a means by which to attain him. He further says that the spiritual guides are the road to Allah, the signposts to it, and the gate by which it is entered. For every seeker of Allah a spiritual guide is therefore indispensable (necessary). The great Imams have said that even if a man becomes the best religious scholar he is still obliged to take the oath of allegiance to a Spiritual guide because there is no way without it. We find great personalities such as Hazrat Ahmad Ibn Hambal (ra){Hambali Madhab named after him}, who was the most superior scholar of his age and was at a high degree of knowledge and Ijthihad, became the disciple of Hazrat Bishr Hafi (ra)When he was asked as to why he had kept the company of Hazrat Bishr Hafi (ra), he answered "He knows Allah better than I do". Another example is Imam-e-Azam Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa (ra) {The Hanafi madhad is named after him}. He gave up the work of Ijthihad in his latter years and became the disciple of Hazrat Imam Jaffar Sadiq (ra) When he was asked as to why he had done so, he replied "Nu'man (his real name) would have perished if it were not for those two years of his company". Hazrat Imam Shafi'ee (ra) (The founder of the Shafi'ee Madhab) used to sit near Hazrat Sha'iban Ray (ra) and consult him on many matters. The people asked the great Imam "You are so learned, why do you seek advice from a Bedouin?" He replied, "This man has learnt what we have not learnt". As we can see these very great Imams of the Ummah who had high grades in knowledge and worship, humbled themselves in the presence of the grand masters of Tasawwuf to attain the secret Ilm. These Imams clung to and joined the service of the Mashaa'ikh and became great Sufis themselves. This shows that salvation and spiritual success depends totally on one becoming a disciple or mureed of a perfect spiritual master or Pir-o-Murshid. Hazrat Imam Sayid Abdul Wahid Sharani (ra) in his work titled Mizan al Shariah al Kubra says that, "The venerable Imams and Sufi Mashaa'ikh shall intercede for their followers. They always think of the affairs of their adherents at the time of the extraction of their souls, at the time of being questioned in the grave, at the time of judgement at the scales, at the time of crossing over the bridge and do not forget them at any station". The great mashaa'ikh are of this opinion that one who has no spiritual guide has shaitaan as his guide. It is recorded is in Sura Kahf verses 65-82 where Allah had ordered Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam) to seek the company of Hazrat Khizr (Alaihis Salaam) to gain certain hidden knowledge that Allah had bestowed upon Hazrat Khizr (Alaihis Salaam).

Allah has caused it to be a normal state of affairs on this earth for there to be a murshid (guide) and a mureed (seeker) a follower and one who is followed from the time of Hazrat Adam (Alaihis Salaam) through the era of the various Prophets, Hazrat Noah (Alaihis Salaam), Hazrat Ebrahim (Alaihis Salaam), Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salaam), Hazrat Isa (Alaihis Salaam) and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Sahaba learnt from the Holy Prophet (SAW), then the Taba'in learnt from the Sahaba, then the Tabe Taba'in learnt from the Taba'in. In this way, century after century the master and disciple sequence continued without a break through the saints until the present period and will continue till the advent of the final hour.

THE HERO OF HEROES

People of every race and community have their heroes that they are proud of. For all the reasons they praise their men as heroes, little is appreciated to the world as a whole for they are heroes to a small group of people and in only one field of life. Mostly their heroic offers no genuine meaning worth the price of a Hero. A brief look at biographies of some of the worlds heroes can prove this fact. In South Africa, the man Nelson Mandela is their hero of heroes to the extent that speaking bad of him in South Africa will put your life on threat. This man with the help of many others who were martyred, in the way took back South Africa into the hands of the blacks and end the famous apartheid although through my experience I have had in my one year stay in this land, am not conveniently convinced of its abolishment. Anyway, whatever the case it may be, Mandela is a South African hero, never mind to how many and let alone in how many fields of life. Worse still, the whites of South Africa dont like him, he took their power and most of them are poor today and they are beggars! Sir Winston Churchill, the victory sign originator is one hero praised by the western world especially those of the Queens land. Of all notable deeds and saying of Churchill is his speech to the House of Commons on May 13, 1940 soon after his erection into power. Speaking on top of his voice, Churchill said; I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. He was a war man and everyone knows. On the other fields of life, there is nothing worth keeping in record. Hitler, the man with his NAZI party was a Germany hero. Apart from eloquence in his speech, nothing good can be credited on his behalf. William Shakespeare is one of the English heroes also, very unlucky for this fella, his English is outdated and all his books are out of syllabus in all schools because no one is speaking the thee, thou sot of English. How can such a person whose work cant stand the test of time be called Hero? Caesar is a Roman hero, surprising enough, I find nothing remarkable worth the title, only that his assassins claimed that he was ambitious, and nothing more! Alexander the Great and Napoleon were conquerors, these guys really knew how to mess up with a sword! Anything else? In other fields of life theirs is a dark world. Socrates and Aristotle are some the Greek heroes, their contribution to modern education is apparent, but in other walks of life, theirs is darkness again. The guys have no record of good morals, perfect ethic values, whatsoever. One of them having had discovered mass and matter thing in his bathroom, went out in nude shouting; Eureka! Eureka! (Greek for, I have discovered), such are their heroes. What a model do all these folks give to our youth and the entire world? The youth of today are such a wild generation. Alas, they have the Rapp stars as their heroes and models. They struggle to speak and dress like them. To this sort of heroes the record is so dirt and filth so much that mentioning one of their names in this article will black list this good work. They are sort of people who lost the sense of humanity the day they were born. Their language is swearing, they are as lustful as dogs on heat and behaves like wild pigs. Again, girls who lost their shame and modesty and can walk in front of people naked in the cut walk style are labelled as models of today. What a mockery to the word model! For the sake of brevity, this list has been kept very incomplete. Now lets see the real hero of the world- Muhammad Ibn Abdullah Ibn al-Hashim (S.A.W). Born and grew up as a poor orphan, he endured all sorts of hardships that every orphan meets as he straggles for survival, from this foster home to the other and to be a Shepard was his only choice .Still every person can agree that the man rose to be the greatest of all great men in history. He won the prize of a perfect model in all fields and walks of life by his character and virtue. All good things you expect from the best of men, Muhammad (S.A.W) had all combined in him. The world admires his courage, resoluteness and impartiality and for a firmness that was tempered by generosity. He was the best leader who walked the talk and not only organised the marches but led them to the last bliss.

A lot has been said about him, the Danish have put him in the most blasphemous cartoons, all bad names the enemies call him. Why? Jealous! Envy and pride makes most of them not to accept the reality, but still it seems that mankind now are able to see the light. From the 19th Century, we have seen many European scholars coming in front giving this great man his due tribute. They call him hero of the heroes, the greatest of all great men of influential. I quote a twentieth century far better known figure as writing; During three and twenty years of actual trial. I find something of a veritable Hero necessary for that, of itself {Carlyle in the Heroes and Hero Worship} Again, this hero got much more admirers, John William Draper M.D pays his tribute saluting him with the following words; For years after the death of Justinian, A.D 569, was born in Mecca, in Arabia the man who, of all men exercised the greatest influence upon race.Mohammed. {John William Draper, M.D a History of the intellectual development of Europe, London 1875, Vol.1 p329-330} And the 15th July 1974 paper of TIME magazine reads. perhaps the greatest leader of all times was Muhammad. Here is one admirer calling him a man to shake the world, in other words, the hero of the world; In little more than a year he was actually the spiritual, nominal and temporal ruler of Madina, with his hands on the level that was to shake the word. (John Austin in T.P.s Cssals Weekly for 24th September 1927) Regarding him as the emancipator of women, here is a verdict of a European scholar; That his (Muhammads) reforms enhanced the status of women in general is universally admitted. (H.A.R Gibb, Mohammedasm, London 1953, p 33) As regards his admirable morals and his love for his people, Muhammads {S.A.W} clemency is here reported by another influential scholar; Muhammad was the soul of kindness and his influence was felt and never forgotten by those around him. (Diwan Chand Sharma. The Prophet of the East Calcutta) Mahatma Ghandi as the Indian leader is a well known man of influential in the world. After all the hard times he encountered in South Africa, back home as a leader Ghandi said; Someone has said that Europeans in South Africa dread the advent of Islam_ Islam that civilised Spain; Islam, that took the touch of light to Morocco and preached to the world the Gospel of Brotherhood. The Europeans of South Africa dread the advent of Islam, as they claim equality with the white races. They may well dread it. If brotherhood is a sin, if it is equality of the coloured races that they dread, then their dread is well-founded. Ghandi further said; No man lived the life of perfect model as did Muhammad; he has been my model and hero since the time I discovered him. {Hindustan Times, May 1989} Well, thats it.. Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the hero of the world. Of his contribution to the world progress no one can overestimate except the ignorant and the selfish. In all sects of human conscience, he contributed. The greatest doctor_ was Muhammad (peace be upon him) the greatest scientist ever in history, a philosopher more than ordinary. His knowledge and conscience civilised Spain, Europe saw the light from Spain and through the knowledge the Crusaders robed from the Arab lands, that which gave birth to Renaissance and eradicated the darkness and ignorance which locked up Europe in the name of Dark age. On this, let Robert Briffault clarify the matter for us. The Renaissance of Europe did not take place in the 15th century. Rather it began when Europe learned from the culture of the Arabs (Muslims). The cradle of European awakening is not Italy. It is the Muslim Spain. (Robert Briffault, The Making of Humanity) So to all modern men who has to lead a life as a son, a husband, a father, a poor worker, a citizen, a neighbour, a businessman, a religious man, a soldier, a conqueror, an orphan, a judge and a ruler, you can all find the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a perfect model, for him in all situations and walks of life, for the whole world agree that he was the best in all aspects of life. Hence your hero, my hero and the worlds number one hero of all times.

My sincere hope and prayer that friends and foes alike will come to the conclusion that this synopsis is the work of detailed study and corroboration of information. Not wild allegations based on conjecture. PROFILE: PEER-E-TARIQAT HAZRAT KHADIM GHULAM JILANI BABA KALYARI
Article By: Irshaad Ahmed Siddiqi Sabri

Hazrat Baba Jilani exudes radiance and an aura of intense spirituality, a sensation not easy to forget by those meeting him for the first time. His imposing presence is spellbinding, heart captivating, a rare glimmer of classic Sufi embrace that easily causes instant bewilderment or mild intoxication. A few moments in his company, and time seems to stand still. Past and present seems to fuse and the voice of eternity speaks as it spoke whenever the message of Truth sought a medium. Frank, forthright and as unpretentious in his actions as in his words, Hazrat Baba Jilani calls towards servanthood as the noblest of pedigrees in the surrender to the Divine Will. Choosing the footsteps of the saintly personalities, Awliya-Allah (friends of God), his is the belief that they are the closest replicas of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and his Companions (R.A) in their faith and actions. Himself a servant at the holy tomb of the famous saint Makhdoom Sayed Alauddin Ali Ahmed Sabir, at Kalyar Sharief in India, since birthas an offering to the saint by his parents, of whom he remained their only child. His father held the office of Khadim (Chief Attendant), a position he painstakingly reared his only child into. His sparkle and vibrancy during his early career fell under the scrutiny of a venerable Sabri spiritual leader, Hazrat Sayed Chiragh Ali Shah (R.A) a resident of Kalyar Sharif, who did not hesitate to present Hazrat Baba Jilani the robe of Khilafat, connecting him to an ecstatic Sabri line which included that saints father Hazrat Sayed Mehboob Ilahi Shah (R.A) and amongst others Hazrat Ghous Ali Shah Panipati (R.A) Soon Hazrat Ghulam Jilanis meteoric, gnostic ascendancy brought him more distinctions as the Jehangiri Kambalposhi branch appointed him at the hand of Hazrat Sayed Habeebullah Shah Ajmeri (R.A) who was both nephew and twice son in-law of the legendary Sabri mystic, Hazrat Sayed Jahangir Shah Kambalposh Ajmeri (R.A). Hazrat Jilani Babas rank rose even further when he was crowned with the Khilafat of the prized Quddoosi branch of the Sabri path, presented to him by the majestic Shah Hakim Qureish Ahmed Quddoosi, a descendant of the great Sabri qutub Hazraat Abdul Quddoos Gangohi (R.A) But perhaps the most cherished of all was the honour of Khilafat from his own father, his mentor and model, the humble slave and pauper of Sabir Paak, Hazrat Fakir Rafiq Ali Shah Kalyari (R.A), who lies buried next to his wife in unmarked graves beneath a cemented assembly area away from the actual mausoleum. Toady Khadim Ghulam Jilani is amongst the most sought-after murshids in the Chisti folds. His Khanqah is the busiest in all of Kalayar Sharief, its doors open to anybody wishing to rest or retreat and its kitchen ever-ready to provide meals to friend and stranger alike. Hazrat is also a key figure in most of the on-going ceremonies at the shrine, playing an exhaustive role during the annual URS celebrations. In this respect he took a leadership role in conducting the annual urs of Hazrat Khwaja Shamsuddin Turk (R.A) in Panipat, against difficult obstacles. However after decades of fierce negotiations victory was finally secured and the property housing the tomb of Sabir Paaks one and only Khalifa is now in the hands of Khadim Ghulam Jilani, and the Sabri followers worldwide. With the Panipat success story being greeted with celebration by Sabri followers and Sufis generally, this heroic servant of the Sabri Silsila can truly be regarded today as the seniormost leader of the Silsila. May Allah secure his health, extend his life, and reward him with the opportunity to witness the fulfilment of his mission in his lifetime! Aameen!

Benefactor of the Poor The life of Khwaja Muinuddin Hassan Chisty Ajmery (R.A)
Article By: Irshaad Ahmed Siddiqi Sabri

To the 15-year old lad watering his garden the sudden appearance of a dervish did not seem strange. These were the dark days of the mongol invasion. Food and money were scarce. At first the lad thought the old man coming towards him was in need. Bowing courteously, he presented the dervish a beautiful bunch of grapes. The stranger stopped in his tracks. He chewed on some sweetmeat, took it out of his mouth and placed it in the mouth of the youth. As soon as he tasted the sweetmeat the youth went into trance. The veils of a strange new world were torn open before his eyes and a desire to discard the path of materialism filled his chest. The old man that was so impressed with his generosity and fine manners was none other than Hazrat Ebrahim Qandoozi, a great saint of his time. The lad who had just tasted the blessings of the saint was the orphan Muinuddin Hassan, who had recently inherited the magnificent garden from his fathers estate. Tasting the sweetness of a spiritual awakening, the youth went about selling his property and belongings and distributed the profits amongst the poor. He proceeded in search of the truth and a path that was to earn him the title Gharibun Nawaaz - the benefactor of the poor.

His Master Travelling extensively through Persia and Arabia, he set about searching for a spiritual guide, while spending time with the saints and scholars of the many cities he passed through. At last divine grace guided him to the town of Harwan near Nishapur in Iran, where he met for the first time the high ranking Chisti master of the path, Hazrat Khwaja Usman Harooni (R.A). Intuitively he knew that the long search was over and he took the hand of the great master while swearing the Chisti oath of obedience to the laws of Allah, obedience to his apostle Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W), and obedience to the Khalifas of the order beginning with Hazrat Ali (R.A) and continuing with his successors (known as Khwajegan-eChist). Khwaja Muinuddin in a short time became the favourite disciple of his master and would often be found carrying the belongings of the master on his head during their many travels together. Khwaja Usman Harooni knew that the disciple he was rearing was going to be the greatest saints of all times. So he spared little in presenting him the finest training before eventually handing over Spiritual Succession (Khalifat) to him. His parting words: Oh Muiniuddin, all this work I have done, is for your sake. You should follow our teachings. He indeed is a true spiritual successor who is absorbed in the teachings of his spiritual guide giving it a prominent place in his spiritual geneology, and in completing it to his utmost skill so that he may not feel ashamed on the Day of Judgement. Gharibun Nawaaz continues the story: My spiritual guide then embraced me and kissed my head and eyes, and said: I have entrusted thee God. Then he went into a spiritual trance and I departed.

From Heaven Receiving the full blessings from his Peer-o-Murshid (Spiritual Guide), Khwaja Muindddin continued on his travels until he eventually reached Mecca to perform his Haj. At the Holy Kaaba he heard a voice from above say: Oh Muinuddin, we are greatly pleased with thee, though art given salvation. Ask for what ever thou mayest like, so that We may grant to thee. Oh Great Allah, give salvation to the followers and disciples of Muinuddin! he answered. Muinuddin, thou art our accepted one! I give salvation to thy followers, disciples, and those who may enter thy fold until the Day of Resurrection. Overcome with ecstasy Gharibun Nawaaz proceeded to Medina, where whilst praying at Quba Masjid, a spiritual message from the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) reached him. He was asked to go to Hindustan and spread Truth and Iman from a place called Ajmer. Overjoyed with this message from Allahs Holiest Prophet, he began to ponder over the mission ahead, and where this place Ajmer might be.

This time he saw the Holy Prophet in a dream showing him the exact location and surroundings of Ajmer. Proceeding first to Lahore where he spent 40 days at the tomb of Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh Ali Hujveri (R.A) he left for Delhi after receiving enormous spiritual advancements from that exercise.

Ajmer Hindustan (India) before Khwaja Gharibun Nawaaz bore a resemblance to pre- Islamic Arabia. Idolatry and disbelief could be found everywhere. Kings and rulers demand their subjects bow before them, while wives were ordered to do the same to their husbands. Torture of the poor, exploitation of the lower classes, drinking, gambling, murder and all types of oppression left the masses praying for a saviour. The saviour was not far off. The benefactor of the poor, the ambassador of the Holy Prophet, Khwaja Muinuddin Hassan Chisty was on his way from Delhi to Ajmer. Armed with the Holy Quran, the teachings of the Holy Prophet, the injunctions of the Khwajegan-e-Chist, and 40 barehanded followers, the caravan proceeded with great love and hope to its destination. At every stage of the journey the great saint delivered messages of Islam to the masses, until close on 700 families recited the attestation: I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship besides Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is his servant and messenger. At last the hills of Ajmer came in view. Proceeding with caution they were now entering the territory ruled by the most powerful and feared of all the Rajput Dyasty. At last the hills of Ajmer came into view. Proceeding with caution they were now entering a territory ruled by the most powerful and feared of all the Rajput Dynasty. A notorious oppressor of the poor and ruthless soldier Raja Prithviraj Chohan, was wary of the strangers that had just arrived. Already he was spending sleepless nights after his mother disclosed a vision she had of a holy saint from a foreign land coming to Ajmer who would bring his downfall. Meanwhile the travellers camped near a lake where the inhabitants usually passed by to fetch water. As usual Khwaja Gharibun Nawaaz set about comforting the people with the message of hope that was Islam, until a substantial folowwing grew from among the locals. The Raja grew irritated with the rapid spread of popularity of the newcomers and concern set in when he learnt that the oppressed masses would soon challenge their age-old caste system that was designed to vouchsafe the positions of those in power at the expense of the poor masses. Slowly it dawned on him that the holy saint from the foreign land had in fact arrived and was the very same Gharibun Nawaaz who had already won the love and respect of his subjects. It was time for action. The Raja had great faith in his astrologers and in particular his chief magician, Ajai Pal. He dispatched them along with his army to confront the saint and his followers. A great contest ensued with the Hindu magician performing one gigantic magical fete after another. The great Khwaja meanwhile sat in a circle with his followers and prayed for the help of Allah. The call was answered and Allmighty Allah empowered his servant with such miracles that were unheard of before. The spectacle was so compelling that the famed Ajai Pal himself at the feet of Khwaja Muinuddin. Reciting the attestation of faith Ajai Pal became a Muslim and was given the name of Abdullah. Until the very end he remained a most loyal devotee of Khwaja. To put the a final end to the oppressive rule of the Raja, the saint in another miracle appeared in the dream of a foreign Muslim King asking him to confront Prithviraj after assuring him victory. Sultan Shahabuddin Ghori of Afghanistan was still licking his wounds received from previous defeats at the hands of Prithviraj. To attack the Raja on the face of the matters seem suicide. But something about the saintly figure that appeared in the dream seem convincing about the manner in which victory was promised. The attack was sudden and although the army of the Hindu ruler was superior in numbers they were defeated with the ruler himself losing his life. When the sultan met the saint who immediately recognised as the one who lead him to victory, he submitted in humility and became his disciple. The conquered territory was given back to the son of the Raja with the blessings of the sultan and forgiveness of the saint. An agreement of human rights and the co-existence of Muslims and nonMuslims was assured.

The Final Journey In the proceeding years the masses flocked to the Chisti sanctuary of Khwaja Muinuddin to hear the message of Islam and to get the blessings of the Benefactor of the Poor. Many wondrous miracles were performed at the prayers of the saint for the mercy of Allah to rain upon the poor and needy. At last the call from above was sounded. Advanced in years and living to see the successful completion of his mission, Khwaja Muinuddin Hassan Chisti, the benefactor of the poor, made his last preparations for the final journey of his life, whose destination was the ultimate meeting with the Lord he worshiped so devotedly, in spirit and in action.

He appointed his favourite disciple Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki as his spiritual successor, giving him his farewell directives for the progress of the Chistia order and the continuation of the work in the service of mankind. A few days later the Khwaja was no more. When his room door did not open on 6 Rajab 633 AH for the morning prayer the disciples decided to go in and see if all was well. When they entered they were saddened to see that the master had already passed on to the next world. They were stunned to see the appearance of writing in the form of a glittering light (noor) on his forhead: Hatha habeebullah ma ta fee hubillah He was a lover of Allah, who died in love of Allah.

The Saint of Kalyar Makhdoom Alauddin Ali Ahmed Saabir (RA)

Article By: Irshaad Ahmed Siddiqi Sabri

Hazrat Abdul Quddoos Gangoghi was the 6th Khalifa of Hazrat Makhdoom Paak Allaudin Ali Ahmed Saabir, the saint whose wrath devastated the city of Kalyar in the UP North India. The leaders of the town challenged his right to spiritual leadership. When the saint invoked Allahs curse on Kalyar, the city was utterly annihilated. Not a soul was living except those who served the saint. Almost 200 years later the situation has not changed. Kalyar was still a ghost town. Anybody who ventured a few miles within the radius of it felt a piercing unnatural burning sensation and would be forced to turn back. Despite this the Saabri Silsilah, a new branch of the existing Chistia order was flourishing. It was exactly because of this, the swelling numbers, that voices were now been raised about a visit to the resting place of Hazrat Saabir Paak. Hazrat Abdul Quddoos was also a saint of wide repute. He felt the time had come for a trace in Kalyar. Going into spiritual communion with Hazrat Saabir Paak, he pleased the case of disciples. On 4 Rabi-ul-Akhir 907AH, he left with a party of 150 leading khalifas, and mureeds to Kalyar. On the outskirts the usual obstacles met them and the group came to a halt. Going ahead alone Hazrat Abdul Quddoos fell to his knees and with outstretched hands, he pleaded for mercy. After a while the party waiting in the background noticed a calm in the atmosphere. The tension was gone. As they presses forward they noticed their leader was performing the namaz (prayer) of gratitude. By the following year a magnificent mausoleum was constructed and the devotees of Allahs most unique saint began to bring life back to normal in Kalyar. Early Life The unique make-up of this saint manifested itself the day he was born. His nurse had to make wuzoo (ablutions) whenever she wishes to touch the child or she would experience a stinging sensation. When his eyes first opened and he happed to stare upwards, the roof blew off and a reddish hue descended upon him. While this happened a holy fragrance was noticed to fill the air of Heart, the town of his birth. As he grew older the first words he spoke were : La Moujooda Illallah (there is nothing present except Allah) Daily the boys life became more and more amazing to those around him. After losing his father quite early in his childhood, his mother decided to get other options on what to do with her strange son who was growing stranger and stranger by the day. A pious man in the neighborhood suggested the boy be put in the care of his brother, the great Khwaja of the age, Hazrat Baba Fareeduddin Ganje Shakar. When Baba Fareed met the young Ali Ahmed he perceived greatness in the lad. He assured his sister that all would be done to rear the boy with the best education and training. Baba Fareed initiated Alauddin Ali Ahmed as his mureed and gave him the task of running the kitchen and distributing the daily food for the poor. With his mother gone back home, and with the adaptation to the new life at the Khanqah (sanctuary) of this spiritual master Hazrat Baba Fareed, the young disciple began to process spiritually beyond expectation. He was given a little room into which he was fond of retiring at every spare moment to engage in prayer and contemplation. Soon the word spread among the disciples and the family of the master that Ali Ahmed preferred being left along to his prayers and his chores of distributing food to the poor in the kitchen. Strange Manifestations One day Baba Fareed heard him sobbing in his room. Enquiring from his nephew as to what was the cause of his grief was, the stunning revelation that finally convinced him of the exact nature of his disciple, poured out.

Allah has just taken me off the path of Sulook (the normal part of a sufi adheres to) and has separated me from all worldly life. With the exception of his Walees and spiritual beings, no ordinary human being will be in my company, the disciple lamented. Baba Fareed listened silenty. Owing to the overwhelming Jazb (intense divine attraction) I will not be able to conduct the common duties in Sulook. The powers of Jazb even in this very moment are taking possession of me. May Allah forgive me, I wonder what is in store for me! Whatever is the will of Allah, I remain in obedience, he continued, leaving his master in deep thought. The shattering impact of Alauddin Ali Ahmeds words were felt a short while later when a series of unnatural tragedies disrupted the peaceful atmosphere of khanqah, in quick succession. The two infant sons of Baba Fareed died mysteriously outside the room of Ali Ahmed on separate occasions, one of them accidentally having discharged urine at the entrance. Hardly had these tragedies subsided, than a worse one followed. A third son of Baba Fareed noticed that Ali Ahmed was late in distributing food to the poor who has assembled in the kitchen, and decided that he would take over the chore for that day. A while later Ali Ahmed who had been totally absorbed in the devotion arrived to fulfill his task, not realizing that he was out of touch with time. He was in a strange mood, silent and brooding. Noticing that there was no food he questioned the staff about it. Learning that somebody else had interfered with his duties, he became possessed by a silent rage. No food left? he quipped, so how is he still left? No sooner were the words uttered then the son of Baba Fareed dropped dead. An uneasy gloom spread over the khanqah after this. Baba Fareeds only reaction was to warn the others to treat Alaudiin Ali Ahmed with greater caution. When the news reached Heart about what had happened, the frantic mother of Ali Ahmed decided that the time had come for her son to marry, perhaps in the hope that marriage might bring the boy back into normal social behavior. She journeyed to Hansi where she anxiously sought the son she had left in the care of her distinguished brother seven years earlier. Title of Saabir But the figure that appeared before her bore no resemblance to the picture she had in mind. Standing before her was a drooping skeleton with sunken eyes and a look that frightened her. Summoning her brother she demanded to know why her son looked as if he had not seen food in a long time. Dear Son, Baba Fareed began questioning his disciple in his mothers presence, I asked you to take over the work of the kitchen and to serve the food so why do you look like you havent been eating yourself? Most honorable master, he replied, when you asked me to feed the poor I did just that. How could I disobey your command by feeding myself when you did not ask me to? The answer sent the master into a spiritual ecstasy. When he came into his senses he conferred upon his disciple the title of Saabir, by which the saint came to popularly known in the ongoing years. Now the mother who had firmly resolved to get her son married approached Hazrat Baba Fareed for his daughters hand. After much reluctance he agreed. On the night of his marriage, he bride stood waiting in his room for many hours, until the early dawn prayer when at last her husband seemed to take notice of her. Who are you? he mumbled.

She shuddered at the look of his face. He had been so deep in prayer and meditation all night that he seemed to have forgotten the events of the previous day. She gulped nervously. Sir, I am your wife, she answered shyly. My wife? he repeated, there is no place for wife in here since that place is already taken. Hardly having finished his words, a flame suddenly roared off the floor consuming the hapless bride, reducing her to ashes in second. Such seemingly endless tragedies took their toll on his mothers health. She had placed so much hope in seeing her son been raised under the esteemed tutorage of a most famous saint in Hindustan. But daily her hope of seeing her son growing to live a normal life was vanishing. Eventually after a short illness the heartbroken woman was laid to eternal rest. When the funeral procession left, it was noticed that Hazrat Saabir Paak was not present with the mourners. He was dutifully serving meals to the poor. Khilafat By now Hazrat Baba Fareed who himself exercised the highest degree of patience during the development of Hazrat Saabir Paak, decided that his rare jewel was ready for the ultimate bestowal of khilafat in the Chistia order, along with the title of Makhdoom (a high state of Sufism), he awarded him the spiritual leadership of the city of Kalyar. With the ambassadorship of Khwaja Muinuddin Ajmerys spiritual monarchy, and the honour of his Peer-O-Murshid bursting in his chest Hazrat Saabir rode into the horizon towards Kalyar eagerly wishing to do service for Allah Almighty. When the inhabitants of Kalyar first saw the shabbily clad ascetic arrive with his companion they were amused, more so when the faqeer proclaimed himself as their spiritual leader and Imam. The declaration was repeated for several days, but the stiff-necked leaders paid no heed. Eventually when the name of Hazrat Baba Fareed was mentioned, a more positive response was elicited. But the message returned that the city of Kalyar would not be dictated to by outsiders, and that its Peer was with the Quran while there was already an existing Imam by the name of Kazi Tabrak. Waiting to have some fun the leader challenged Hazrat Ali Ahmed Saabir to perform some miracle to prove his worth. The saint accepted the challenge to perform a miracle that would solve the mystery of a goat that had gone missing. The voice of the goat was heard in the stomachs of all those guilty of stealing it and feeding on it. But this was still not good enough. They claimed that he was merely a magician. Alhamdulillah. Hazrat Ali Ahmed Saabir exclaimed, this faqeer is able to fulfil a sunnah of the Holy Prophet. When he, the Holy Prophet, proclaimed the Truth of Islam they called him a magician. Deciding that the best course was to refer the matter to his master for judgement, he dispatched his companion to Hazrat Baba Fareed while he himself remained in Kalyar. Hazrat Baba Fareed sent a stern warning in writing to the leaders of Kalyar half hinting all the dangers they were courting by annoying this particular saint of Allah. But this people were adamant that they should remain aloof, and in sheer contempt tore his letter. The sight of his masters torn letter brought an instant change to the mood of Hazrat Saabir Paak. The Wrath of A Saint On Friday 10 Muharram 651 AH, Hazrat Alauddin Ali Ahmed occupied the Imams mussalah (prayer mat) at the mosque still determined to lead the prayers in accordance with his Peers instructions. But soon the mosque got filled and the existing imam rudely ejected him from his place. In like manner he was jostled from front row to back row, until he found himself out on the street. The strange emotions that Hazrat Ali Ahmed had grown accustomed to were starting to seize the control of him. Only this time more intensely. He was staring blankly at the mosque, hurt at been rejected, hurt at his masters letter being torn up, hurt at been thrown out of the mosque, but most of all hurt at missing the congregational Friday prayer.

The voice of the Imam reciting Allahu Akbar broke his thoughts and he realized that the congregation was already going into Ruku. Thinking aloud he wondered how it would be if the whole mosque, building and congregation should go into ruku and remain so till the Day of Judgment. And lo, the mosque obeyed and plunged into the position of Ruku, shaking the entire city and taking the congregation down to the depths of the earth. The wrath of Hazrat Saabir invoked the wrath of Allah. The city of Kalyar was engulfed in flame, and all those that remained alive scattered out of the city as fast as they could. The only safe spot was the place where the saint stood, the graves of the pious, and the homes of those that entertained him during his stay in Kalyar. When the news of the divine devastation of Kalyar reached Hazrat Baba Fareed the latter uttered: Our Saabir does not rule like a saint, he rules like God. Arrival of a disciple During this time a caravan of dervishes arrived from Turkey with the express purpose of joining the Chistia order at the hands of Baba Fareed. But the great Khwaja sent them away, asking the leader whose name was Shamsuddin to go to Kalyar. Your share is not with me, your share is with my Alauddin Ali Ahmed Saabir. When the group arrived on the outskirts of the devastated Kalyar, they stood on the boundaries waiting for the companion of Hazrat Saabir to escort them safely to the saint. The majestic saint was seen standing in a motionless position, his left hand holding the branch of a tree, and his right hand pointing at the sky. His eyes were fixed on the sky. Remaining in that position for many days, the travelers grew tired of waiting and eventually left, except for Shamsuddin. When he came out of his spiritual trance, he initiated Hazrat Shamsuddin Turk as his disciple and ordered him to return to Baba Fareed for his training, and to offer himself for a service to that saint until he left the world. The instruction was carried out most dutifully by the only mureed of Hazrat Saabir Paark, and when Hazrat Baba Fareeduddin Masood Ganje Shakar (RA), eventually breathed his last on the 5 Muharram 661AH Hazrat Shamsuddin prepared himself for the long-yearned for meeting with his Peer-o-Murshid once again. Arriving at Kalyar he found Hazrat Saabir Paak to be in the exact position, holding the branch and pointing at the sky, as he had left him for four years previously. On the arrival of his mureed Hazrat Saabir Paak regained his consciousness and expressed happiness at the latters arrival. At this stage he further honored his disciple by conferring Khilafat on him. He commanded his mureed to practice severe mortifications, including a six year stint in a grave for spiritual excellence. Having concluded his training successfully, the spiritual master sent his khalifa to apply his spiritual powers in assisting at a battle that was raging nearby. Remember to come back as soon as the fort of Amber falls in the battle because that would also be the day of my parting this world, being 13 Rabi-ul-Awwal 690AH. Looking at his master for the last time, the khalifa parted with a heavy heart. The Final Miracle As prophesized the fort fell on the said date, and Hazrat Shamsuddin rode with great speed to Kalyar knowing that the worst had already happened, and that the most unique saint that ever lived had left forever. There was a strange atmosphere in Kalyar. Nothing moved and not a sound could be heard. With tear-filled eyes and a heavy heart, the khalifa slowly approached the spot where the body of his departed master lay in peaceful rest. He noticed a strange red hue spread around the body of his master, which descended from the sky. And now he would have to proceed with the funeral.

He remembered word for word the detailed instructions given to him during their last meeting. He would not be allowed to touch the body during ghusl(bathing ceremony). He was not even to look at the body during ghusal. Everything would happen the way you would be planning in your mind, so dont touch my body, the master had warned. And true to the demised saints word, the ghusal passed off exactly as he said it would. The next event being the performance of the Janaza Namaaz(funeral prayer) The dazed mureed was getting ready to spread the musalah, sadly pondering over the loneliness. Thinking in his mind that here the greatest saint in the world was going to be buried and nobody but himself and the odd few companions of the saint were present. He proceeded with heavy limbs to perform the namaaz. Suddently a galloping horse came thundering by. A veiled rider dismounted and quickly occupied the mussalah before Hazrat Shamsuddin could position himself on it. Stunned by the sudden event that the khalifa obeyed the veiled strangers action by standing behind him and allowing the latter to begin the namaaz. When he turned his face for salaams (the last act in the prayer) he was dumfounded to notice the large congregation present who seemed to have appeared from nowhere. The blessed body of Huzoor Saabir Paak was then lowered to its resting place. The veiled stranger was mounting his horse getting ready to ride away. Running behind him the mesmerized Hazrat Shamsuddin was pleading: Sir, you have just performed the funeral prayer of my Peer-O-Murshid, who are you? The rider was getting ready to leave. At least let me have the pleasure of knowing your name , please Turning for a brief moment, with his face unveiled the stranger declared: The funeral of the faqeer is performed by the faqeer! It was too much for Hazrat Shamsuddin and he fell down unconscious. The stranger who performed his masters funeral prayer was the same Hazrat Makhdoom Paark Alauddin Ali Ahmed Saabir!
