Note :-

The Upper Age limit for any of the categories, shall not exceed 45 years, while availing the above mentioned age relaxations, in any case, as on the last date fixed for submitting 'On-line Application'.

Reservation : Reservation for various categories and classes shall be in accordance with the various provisions therefor, as adopted and made applicable by the High Court of Gujarat, to the different Cadres on the establishments of the various Courts in the State of Gujarat.

Fees and Mode of Payment : a) The candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, Disabled Persons & Ex-Servicemen are required to pay fees of Rs.250/plus Bank Charges and all other candidates are required to pay fees of Rs.500/- plus Bank Charges. The candidates are requested to make payment of requisite fees in Current Bank Account No.30725811785 with the State Bank of India, High Court Complex Branch, Ahmedabad, held in the name of Registrar General, High Court of Gujarat, Sola, Ahmedabad, through any of the Core Banking Service branches of the State Bank of India, from 21/02/2012 to 20/03/2012 during bank working days and hours, using the Cash Voucher in the special format appended to this Advertisement which can be downloaded from the website www.gujarathighcourt.nic.in or http://hcrec.guj.nic.in:8080 and collect from the Bank, the Cash Voucher, marked as 'Office Copy' and 'Candidates Copy' with the unique Deposit Journal Number assigned by the Bank and preserve the same. Candidates must ensure that on deposit of fee, the Bank issues them a receipt which invariably mentions (i)Deposit Journal Number (ii)Branch name (iii)Branch Code Number, (iv)Date of deposit and (iv) Bank charges, etc., b) Fees once paid shall not be refunded in any circumstances. c) Payment made by any other mode viz. Cash/Cheque/ Money Order/Bank Demand Draft/Bank Pay Order/Postal Order etc. will not be accepted. 6. How to apply : a) All eligible candidates should apply 'On-line', through the link provided in High Court website www.gujarathighcourt.nic.in or http://hcrec.guj.nic.in:8080 in the prescribed format from 21/02/2012 to 20/03/2012. Candidates should have his / her own valid e-mail ID and the same should be kept active during the recruitment process. This will help him / her in getting the 'Call-lettercum-Admission Slip'. Candidates are advised, in their own interest, not to give any other persons' e-mail Address, but to create his/her own e-mail A/c, and invariably give his/her own e-mail ID in the 'On-line Application'. Branch Code and Branch Transaction Journal Number noted on the Cash-Voucher should be correctly 'filled-in', in the Application at appropriate place. The Candidates should remember/note the Application Number and Confirmation Number for future reference and use. Please note that the above is the general procedure for applying on-line. No other mode of application or incomplete application will be accepted and in such case, the application will be rejected outright. After applying on-line, the candidates should take a print out of the system generated on-line application form and retain it for future reference. They should not send this print out to the High Court of Gujarat, which they will have to submit at the time of Interview, along with requisite documents, if they qualify therefor.

Scheme of Competitive Examination : The Competitive Examination shall consist of : (A) Written Examination (Objective type MCQs) [100 marks] (B) Practical/Skill Tests [50 marks] & (C) Viva-Voce Test (Interview) [50 marks] (A) (1) Written Examination : The language of Question Paper of Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) will be Gujarati and English.

// 7 // (2) The Written Examination(Objective type MCQs), conducted as above, shall have Negative marking of 0.33 marks for every wrong/multiple answer. This Examination will be of 02 (Two) Hours duration. Syllabus :a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) i) j) English Language Gujarati Language General Knowledge Arithmetic Current Affairs Indian History and Geography Basics of Computer Applications Sports Analytical Reasoning Mental Ability etc.

(3) Only those candidates who secure minimum 50 marks in the Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) shall be called for Practical Test/Skill Test. A candidate belonging to any of the Reserved Category [such as SC, ST, SEBC & Disabled Persons(Differently Abled Persons)], shall have to secure minimum of 45 marks. (4) The Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) will be conducted either at Ahmedabad or at any District place/places as may be decided by the High Court depending upon the number of candidates, for which the candidates will have to make their own arrangements. (B) Practical / Skill Tests : (1) For the posts of Stenographers, the candidates who qualify in the Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) will have to appear in the Speed Test of 50 marks in Stenography and Transcription thereof on Computer(English or Gujarati as the case may be), at Ahmedabad.

For the post of Assistant (Junior Clerk), the candidates who qualify in the Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) will have to appear in the Typing Test of 50 marks on Computer (English or Gujarati as the case may be), at Ahmedabad. A candidate shall have to secure minimum 40% marks in the Practical/Skill Test, in order to qualify for Viva-Voce Test (Interview).

After the Practical/Skill Tests, is/are conducted, marks scored in the Written Examination (Objective type - MCQs) and Practical/Skill Tests on Computer, would be combined together to call successful candidates for the Viva-voce Test (Oral Interview). ( C ) Viva-Voce Test(Interview) : (4) (1) Viva-voce Test (Interview) shall be conducted at Ahmedabad, at venue(s), as may be decided by the High Court. The object of the Viva-voce Test (Interview) is to assess the candidate's mental alertness, General knowledge, current affairs, clear and logical exposition, skills, ethics, power of assimilation, power of communication, character and analytical ability. A candidate must secure 40% Marks in the Viva-voce Test (Interview) for being eligible for inclusion in the Select-List for appointment as Stenographer/Assistant (Junior Clerk), as the case may be. The final Merit List shall be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in Written Examination (Objective Type MCQs);, Practical /Skill Tests and Viva voce Test (Interview).

9. Preparation of Select-List : (1)

// 9 // (2) The High Court shall prepare the Select List for the respective cadres, in the order of merits. The number of candidates to be included in the Select List shall be equal to the number of vacancies notified, provided eligible and suitable candidates scoring minimum marks are available. The High Court shall also prepare a separate list containing names of those candidates who shall be placed on the 'Wait List'. The said 'Wait List,' shall comprise a list of candidates, not more than 20% of the size of the 'Select List,' for making appointments arising due to unforeseen circumstances, during the period of validity of the 'Select List'. The 'Select List' shall be published on High Court website and/or through any other mode, as may be decided by the High Court. The 'Select List' shall remain in force for a period of Two years, from the date of its publication or until the publication of a fresh Select List, whichever is earlier. However, if the vacancies in a particular year are not substantially higher than the number of candidates remaining in the existing Select List, the period of such Select List may be extended by the High Court not exceeding one year, so as to make appointment against such vacancies from the said Select List. The candidates whose names are included in the Select List so prepared shall be recommended for appointment in order of merit having due regard to the preference for the Districts given by the candidates. The District wise list of candidates recommended for appointment shall be forwarded to the Principal Judicial Officer of the concerned district / court, as per available vacancies. Such list shall be prepared as far as possible on the basis of merits of the candidates and preferences for Districts indicated by them. If on the basis of merit position of a candidate or for any other reasons, it is not possible to recommend him in any of the Districts of his choice, he may be recommended for appointment in any other District.

If a Candidate's position is down below in the Merit-List, and places of other districts of his/her choice have been filled up from amongst the candidates, who are higher, in the Merit List, in that case his/her name may be recommended for any other district, which may be district nearer to districts of his/her choice.

On the basis of recommendations made by the Committee, the Principal Judicial Officer of the District shall issueAppointment Letter to the concerned candidate.

// 10 // Any candidate who does not accept such appointment shall lose his right to appointment and shall not be considered for appointment in future on the basis of the select list in question.

10. General Instructions : (1) It may be noted by all concerned candidates that all the applications, made earlier, for the above notified Posts/Cadres, pursuant to the Advertisements issued by Principal District Judges / Appointing Authority, of the State of Gujarat, in which procedure has not yet reached finality, would now be treated as cancelled, and those candidates may apply afresh, if they are eligible as per the conditions/criteria/qualifications, prescribed in this Advertisement. A candidate will have to apply separately for each post with the requisite amount of fees in the prescribed proforma of Cash-Voucher, in support of his/her candidature. Candidates, desirous of applying 'On-line,' can avail of the assistance from the Facilitation Centers / Kiosks, which will be opened in the Registry of the District / Taluka Courts, as necessary and practicable. However, in the event of any difficulty of any kind, no responsibility shall lie with the establishment (Annexure - B). A Candidate will have to opt for three Districts, of his/her choice, indicating the precedence of their preferences, for being appointed to the post in question and the fourth District will be determined by the High Court, depending upon the availability of vacancies against the relevant category of that particular post, in accordance with the merit. List of Candidates, who have submitted 'valid' On-line Applications, would be notified on the High Court website, for appearing at the Written Examination (objective type MCQs), as would be communicated. In case of large number of candidates applying for the posts/cadres, as advertised, it will be the discretion of the High Court to limit the number of applications on the basis of permissible legal parameters. The decision of the High Court as to the eligibility or otherwise of a candidate for admission to the Written Examination, Practical / Skill Tests and/or Viva-voce shall be final. No candidate, to whom Call letter / Admission Slip, has not been issued, by the Recruiting Authority, shall be admitted for the Examination/Test.

// 11 // (8) The candidates shall have to appear at their own cost (toand-fro) for Written Examination, Practical Test / Skill Tests and Viva-Voce, at the place and time that may be decided by the High Court. Benefit of relaxation in upper age limit & fees as well as reservation of posts shall be granted to the Disabled Persons, provided that requisite Certificate in respect thereof, issued by the Competent Authority of the State, is produced by the candidate as and when called for. The decision, as to the suitability of a Candidate, for a particularPost/Cadre, will be taken by the High Court, finally.

(10) Relaxation in upper-age limit shall be granted to Exservicemen provided relevant Certificate & Identity Card, etc., in that respect is produced by the candidate as & when called for. (11) Candidates would be required to download his/her 'Callletter-cum-Admission-Slip', from the Gujarat High Court website i.e. by using his/her Application No., Confirmation No. and Date of Birth, for appearing at the respective Written Examination / Practical / Skill Tests / Viva-voce. The same may however be also sent by the High Court to the concerned candidate on his/her respective e-mail Address, if valid. (12) Candidates will have to produce, at the time of appearing for the Written Examination / Practical / Skill Tests / Viva-voce, one's own Identity Proof, viz., Election Card issued by Election Commissioner; Pan Card; Driving Licence and/or Identity Card issued by the Head of the Department, in case of Government employees, in original, along with the 'Call-letter-cum-Admission-Slip.' (13) A candidate who is found indulging in unfair practices, viz. copying or any other misconduct during the course of examination or using electronic gadgets, like Mobile Phones etc; tampering with the Question paper; influencing any person concerned with the Competitive Examination, at any stage, will be expelled forthwith, and may also be debarred from appearing for such examinations for any number of years or permanently, as may be decided by the High Court. (14) Lists of eligible candidates for Written Examination, and those qualifying for Practical/Skill Tests & Viva-voce (Interview), would be made available on the High Court website and/or by any other mode that may be decided by the High Court. (15) Mere success in the Competitive Examination, shall not confer any right of appointment, on any Candidate.

// 12 // (16) Result of successful candidates would be made available on the High Court website and/or published by any other mode as may be decided by the High Court. (17) Candidates must not send copies of any Testimonials/ Documents, to the High Court, unless called for. (18) Candidates shall however submit 'print-out' of the 'On-line Application,' duly signed at the space provided, along with all necessary original testimonials (for due verification), as well as one Set of attested xerox copies thereof, at the time of viva-voce to be conducted by the High Court, as follows: (a) (b) (c) Recent passport size photographs. School Leaving Certificate or Birth Certificate issued under Birth & Death Registration Act. All Mark-sheets and certificates pertaining to educational qualification e.g. SSC/HSCE/Final Year Graduate or Post Graduate etc. Certificate of GCC showing the requisite speed in typing/ shorthand as may be applicable. Certificate showing basic knowledge of computer application /operation. Certificate showing the Caste/Category in respect of candidates belonging to Reserved Category and in case of those belonging to Socially & Educationally Backward Classed, non-creamy layer certificate, issued by the Competent Authority of the State of Gujarat, during the respective financial year. In case of Physically Disabled candidates (a) a certificate from a Competent Authority to the effect that he has a locomotor disability of not less than 40% and (b) a certificate from the Standing Medical Board at Ahmedabad to effect that he/she would be able to perform the duties of the post in question. No objection Certificate in case of candidate working in any department of the Government of State of Gujarat. Identity proof i.e. any of the following : Original License, PAN Card, Election Card or passport.

// 13 // (19) While applying 'On-line' for the post, the applicant should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility and other norms mentioned above and that the particulars furnished by him/ her are correct in all respects. If it is found that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility norms and/or that he/she has suppressed / twisted or truncated any material facts, his/ her candidature will stand cancelled. If any of these shortcomings is detected even after appointment, his/her service is liable to be terminated. (20) Candidate should preserve his/her Application Number and Confirmation Number after submitting On-line Application, for future correspondence as well as for downloading the 'Callletter-cum-Admission-Slip' for appearing at Skill Test/ Viva-Voce (Interview). (21) Candidate should scan his / her photograph having 5 c.m. of height and 3.6 c.m. of width (10kb) and signature having 2.5 c.m. of height and 7.5 c.m. Of width (10kb) in jpg format for uploading the same at relevant space on the 'On-line Application. (22) Candidates are required to fill up the 'On-line Application Form within 20 minutes (Count-down shall begin after having filled-up the information in the first box). (23) The Candidate shall fill-up the required data in the Application in accordance with the instructions. Applications which are not in accordance with the instructions, shall be summarily rejected. Decision of the High Court of Gujarat in respect of all matters pertaining to this recruitment would be final and binding on all candidates.
